We are a married couple (no kids) in our 40's who are early retirees and travel permanently. We added cruising as a mode of travel over the last couple of years and are no sailing around 100 days a year. Most of our cruises have been on the mid size ships of the major lines (Celebrity, HAL, NCL) with one cruise on Regent. We are in the midst of trying a variety of new lines.
Overall we thought ...
Wanted to go to Bermuda and see a bit of the Western Caribbean. It was relaxing with good music and entertainment. The special speakers were very interesting. Liked the convenience of free washers and dryers. Met some very nice people. Staff all very helpful. The spa looked very nice, but never went in- afterwards someone said that it was free - don't know if this is true. We used the walking ...
We are just off of the Viking Star...around the Caribbean Sea cruise. We left oct. 18 from Manhattan, NYC. It was a blustery warm day. This was our 1st ocean cruise after several river cruises (also w viking).
It is a fabulous ship. Clean...very clean...with a tremendous staff. They always went above and beyond....from the housekeeping staff to waiters on up! We had done a ...
I've heard wonderful things about Viking river cruises, and wanted to try the new ocean itinerary that didn't require overseas travel. Admittedly, the Caribbean is not my favorite destination in general, but it was a lot more accessible than any of the other itineraries.
The most unpleasant part of the trip was the redeye flight on American. The lights from all of the video screens, constant ...
Wanted to visit the Amazon on a luxury cruise line. The ship was very nice and never a crowd at any one area. The service was outstanding from the steward , restaurant, and service staff. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars was the quality of the food. Presentation was very nice but some meats were overdone and tough. Fish dishes were a little over cook and dry. Would travel again . The ...
The cruise embarking from Miami and into warm weather in February was the main reason we took this cruise. Seeing the Amazon was a bonus.
Warm weather (from Ohio), ship is wonderful and people friendly. Entertainment- we enjoyed the carnival show at one of the stops. Didn't attend most of ship shows. Did go to chef's cooking demo and napkin folding. Was nice afternoon diversion on at sea days, ...
After experiencing an excellent Viking River Boat cruise a few years ago, we were eager to sail on one of the new ocean voyage cruises. We were not disappointed. The ship, cabin, staff, food, etc. could not have been better. However, the staff entertainment crew was less than expected, other than the Viking Band, which was the highlight of each evening's entertainment.
Viking staff have gone ...
This cruise was a replacement cruise for a similar Caribbean Cruise offed by Viking a few weeks earlier. The original cruise sailed out and back to San Juan, Puerto Rico shortly after a major hurricane came through PR and several of the Caribbean Islands on the itinerary. Viking customer service was WONDERFUL booking us a different cruise several weeks later.
What is there not to like about ...
We choose this cruise because we hadn't been to the islands before and the cruise was half price with free air.
This is our second cruise with Viking. We really enjoy the small ship. There are no big crowds. It's very relaxing.
The only problem with this cruise was that the first day we were in a storm and it was pretty rough. Once we got through that it was great, although we had ...
We chose this cruise around the Caribbean sea because it matched up with our wedding date/time off for a honeymoon. We had a nice time, even though we were the youngest on the cruise by about 40 years. We did not take our teenage daughter, even if we had wanted to because on the ocean cruises your child must be over the age of 18.
The food was top notch, impeccable. The quality and the ...
