Huge disappointment for firm Viking Fans

Review for a World Cruise Cruise on Viking Sky

Review of Viking Sky 2023/24 World Cruise. For 4 months per year my wife and I have been avid cruisers. Firstly 18 with Azamara, but since their sad decline we switched to Viking. Now with 8 completed, and enjoyed, it was sad to see how far Viking standards have fallen. We found this on our recent segmented 2 legs on this world cruise. This was after we were initially notified that we were ...

Not good Value

Review for a Europe - Western Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Saturn

Experienced cruisers on multiple lines over many years, Regent, Oceania, Seabourn, Celebrity, Cunard, Carnival, Royal Carribean, and in our opinion Viking is not good value for money. Room attendants were excellent. Another postive is that only over 18 allowed on board. Embarkation and disembarkation good. In room TV entertainment good. Food was medicocre and lacks options. Only 2 ...

Chasing the High

"The first high is nearly impossible to duplicate. As users try to escape the rebound low and recreate that initial feeling, they take more and more of the drug." - Methproject.org This was our 2nd cruise with Viking Ocean, and 10th overall. It was a 7-night cruise embarking at Barcelona and ending at Civitavecchia. We had the best cruise ever on the Viking Sky in March 2022, and we were ...

Not for me

Smart clean ship with brilliant staff but not for me. Not a good start to find no tea facility in the cabin, binoculars, dressing gown, slippers and an umbrella, but no tea. Don't Americans drink tea? Food was nothing special, P&O's used to be just as good in fact the self service choice on P&O is better. The free wine was just ok but was easily available. Cold plates were common and the cheese ...

Love Viking, but not this cruise

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Sea

We typically do viking river cruises. This is first viking ocean cruise, but unfortunately started with italy. The italian government instituted a policy a few weeks earlier (?) to stop cruise ships from docking next to venice proper. Viking had to dock a loooong way away. Took us nearly two hours to reach venice, had short tour, given 30 minutes for out-on-our-own time which included a 20 minute ...

A bait and switch cruise line?

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Sky

We booked a cruise from Barcelona to Venice (Fusina). We travel independently, and planned four days in Barcelona before taking a taxi to the ship. A week before embarkation, we were told it would now take place in Tarragona (105 km away). Any transfer plans for independent travelers? Sorry, said Viking. You are on your own. Our 90 minute taxi to Tarragona cost $185 euros. A week after we got ...

Viking not for us

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Sky

We have done over 70 cruises with a number of different cruise companies and had read, and seen on You Tube, very positive views on Viking so we thought we would try it out - in retrospect a mistake. The good points - the ship is well planned; the décor was pleasant and it’s easy to find your way about. There is ample deck space and the retractable roof over the pool is a great facility. The ...

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

We booked this cruise over 2 years ago and was seriously thinking about cancelling it and rebooking for a later date. We didn't due to no availability until 2023. Hind site is 20/20 and we should have canceled. We embarked in Barcelona and disembarked in Venice. This was first ever once in a lifetime cruise. We had high expectations due to great Viking reviews. Viking was being very cautious ...

Not what we expected from Viking

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Star

We went for our 50th wedding anniversary so we felt it was worth spending the extra monies. We expected to be impressed with the vacation, we expected too much. Viking advertises no surprises and excursion in every port. We had plenty of surprises and there is NOT an excursion in every port. We spent our anniversary on the plane for 10 hours then the worst bus you can imagine for 4.5 hours to ...

Intermittent Sewer Odor in Cabin 8017

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Zhao Shang Yi Dun (Viking Sun)

User Avatar

10+ Cruises • Age 70s

We have been Viking fans for many years but this was our first sailing on the Sun. Our biggest issue was intermittent sewer odors coming through the ventilation system (not from the bathroom area). Although maintenance and Engineering attempted to resolve, they did not resolve, possibly because this is a design issue or requires a bigger fix than they could do at sea. Either way, Guest Services ...
