We traveled via Viking Air Business Class going and Premium Economy upon return, arranging our hotel in Istanbul for three days before embarkation and doing the post-cruise extension in Athens upon disembarkation. We traveled as three seniors.
Travel to and from the cruise was arranged through Viking Air months before the cruise with recurrent notices of dates times, airline booking codes, and ...
Had the opportunity to cruise with Viking for the first time recently. We've done 21 cruises with most of the major players out there, and a few of the premium lines.
Positives:
- Very clean cabins with 2X day housekeeping
- No cruisers under 18 years of age
- Perfect sized ship
- No upsell once on board
- Embarkation / Disembarkation very easy
- Decent selection of Video On ...
Ship, stateroom and staff were all great. For the cruise cost, other aspects of the experience were, in our view deficient. Our TV system was of such poor sound quality as to be inaudible and when reported it was clear that Viking had no more interest in a resolution than they do to responding to other constructive criticism. Food is generally quite good but not exceptional and some aspects are ...
Viking is known for its impeccable quality in cruises ; they did not disappoint ! Service, food, ship, all excellent. The stateroom was nicely appointed and serviced twice a day. Our room steward was extremely attentive. The bed was firm but comfortable. Dining was very good. Several restaurants to choose from. The world cafe buffet was a bit crowded several nights , but we managed and the ...
While on the boat and in the room all is wonderful. Food is fantastic and service wonderful. Purchasing the silver alcohol upgrade isn’t really valuable because half of the waiter/bar staff don’t seem to understand it and even charged me for upgrades beyond having paid for silver . The extensions of front and back as well as the flights picked by Viking are not just poor they are outright bad. We ...
This trip was a last minute plan in September, 2023. The draw was a discount fare with free airfare to the Holy Land. My siblings and I decided to sign up The Holy Land visit was cancelled due to the conflict, October, 2023. We agreed to continue with the trip. I received a single rate Was my first Viking Ocean cruise, but a veteran of other cruise lines as well as a Viking River Cruise. I was ...
We chose Viking’s 15 day Mediterranean Antiquities cruise because we had been on the Viking 18 day cruise, South America and the Chilean Fjords, and loved everything about it. In particular we enjoyed the lectures and other enrichment activities as well as the fellow travelers who seemed to have similar interests. The library was phenomenal.
Since all Viking Ocean ships are almost identical, we ...
Went two days early so I could see Venice. Had to pay $100 deviation fee no pre excursion available no transportation to ship either( normally included). Viking screwed up had me flying into Paris but not Venice. I had to sort it out myself (Viking no help , but very nice) the day I flew not knowing if I’d get to Venice.
So Viking Flew into Venice but then no time allotted or transportation ...
Loved the itinerary. Nice ship. Decent food but not great and lacking variety. Two lobster nights was really nice.
Included Excursions were disappointing with average to below average guides. Paid excursions had better guides but really poor planning relative to time. Many excursions returned to the ship as buffet was closing. Others did not allow enough time for shopping and enjoying the ...
I travelled as a solo traveller on this cruise last year from Venice (Chiogga) to Athens. It was my first cruise on Viking. My only previous cruise experience had been with Hurtigruten doing the Norway Coastal cruise. I found the ship itself to be lovely and very user friendly. I was also very pleased with my standard verandah cabin. Unfortunately apart from the main pool the other pools and hot ...
