What Happened To Viking?!!

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Sky

My wife and I had a major Viking cruise credit left from the pandemic in 2020. As we did not wish to lose the major dollars in our account, we chose a cruise really based on using up the dollar balance, as Viking would not let us sail on multiple cruises leaving us with a zero balance. Initially, we boarded the Viking Sky and yes, the ship is clean as any cruise ship we have sailed on. We ...

We typically do viking river cruises. This is first viking ocean cruise, but unfortunately started with italy. The italian government instituted a policy a few weeks earlier (?) to stop cruise ships from docking next to venice proper. Viking had to dock a loooong way away. Took us nearly two hours to reach venice, had short tour, given 30 minutes for out-on-our-own time which included a 20 minute ...

We choose this cruise, due to the many interesting ports, we'd not visited. Viking Oceans is trying to do, too much, too fast, and losing sight of the small details, involved in "Luxury Cruising". We'd sailed on Viking River Cruises numerous times and on Viking Star, loving everyday. Not so with this cruise, Bay of Bangle, involved a different 'hurdle' daily. Embarkation in Mumbai was a ...

LAUNDRY: Many of my fine linen items came back shrunken even though my instructions were specific about their care. FOOD: Nothing to write home about - staff had difficulty communicating in English. BUFFET: Seafood buffet had a "fishy" smell quite evident even when just passing. WINES: Overly disappointed with our "included wines" which were a simply a " red or white" PERIOD! My husband is ...

We were so excited about this, our first cruise that we had booked a Christmas cruise for 2017 and paid for that before we left. We wouldn't have done that, though, if the phone staff hadn't promised me that the price advertised in the mailing was the very lowest price we would be offered. In fact, on the boat, they offer a standard $500 per person discount for a future cruise. They specifically ...

The cruise was suggested by friends and we arrived in Venice with reasonable expectations of Viking's usual efficiency. This was our third experience with the company. At the airport we we told we had no transfer arrangements and I had to dig through luggage to prove it had indeed been prepaid. We arrived at our cabin which was filled with paint fumes. we thought they would disperse and ...

This is our 4th Viking cruise, having sailed the Danube, Rhine, and Seine rivers with Viking. There were 1000 passengers on Viking Star, rather than 200 on a river cruise, and the level of service was considerably less than on the rivers. We enjoyed itinerary, there was not enough entertainment, tours were disappointing, and the staff was still in training and didn't have the knowledge or ...

We just came back from our Mediterranean Cruise, and the experience is pretty POOR. We embarked in Istanbul & disembarked in Venice, which was in the reverse direction as stated in the "Viking Cruises 2015 & 2016 Ocean Cruises" booklet. In the booklet, it clearly stated that on Day 1 (if you embark in Venice), there's supposed to have an included tour, which bring you to St. Mark's Square, en ...
