At the Vatican at night, we took a night tour through Viator. We paid $260 for a night tour that took us to all the main spots throughout Rome and included dinner and gelato. It was incredible to see Rome at night. Our guide was not the best, more of a taxi driver than a guide, but we enjoyed seeing all the main spots at night with lights and would never been able to navigate through the city on our own.

We chose Viking based on cruise ratings and have sailed on over 30 ocean cruises. Our review benchmark used 2019 sailings on HAL and Regent. The Star passenger areas are in good shape for the ship's age. However the ship is small and suffers from excessive pitch and heave in the typical Pacific 6 to 9 foot swells as compared to larger ships such as the HAL Westerdam, which we took on a nearly ...

Amazing French Polynesian Cruise

This was a great cruise, and the sea days were filled with as much activity as you wanted. However, the included excursions in Hawaii were not good. They were poor choices of places to visit, and the trip to Pearl Harbor was too short. You had to rush through the exhibits and this should have been the only thing scheduled for the day. There were also hidden charges at Pearl Harbor that we were ...

Long cruise impressions

The ship appearance, crew attitude, pianist performance were great. The theater we visited once. There were long lines to get in. We were not too impressed with the variety of food in the cafeteria (World cafe). They also did not extend lunch beyond 2:30 on port days, so you missed the main lunch then. The hamburger counter had to be used instead if you took an excursion. The included ...

I love sea days. This cruise had 20. We went to tropical paradise places I could never had dreamed possible. Viking has absolutely the best service I have ever enjoyed on a ship. Happy, friendly and exceedingly helpful staff everywhere. Viking should not be anyone’s first cruise. You need to experience the others to really appreciate the difference. Twice a day cabin service, fresh water and ...

Changed itinerary but had a great time

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Viking Orion

This cruise was initially headed to Alaska and Japan (cancelled Russia), however the itinerary changed and we went to Alaska and then to Hawaii. We had 12 days total at sea, and the staff made it fun. Always something to do. Loads of goodies to eat provided by the most top notch staff we've had. Had some very rough seas, but that was actually pretty interesting. Saw cool sea creatures. ...

An outstanding cruise which combines a repositioning with multi country/culture adventure. Seeing Alaska, Russia and Japan all while gaining extra sleep every other day made this relaxing. This ship (like all the Viking cruise ship) is as near perfect as you can get. Comfort, food, service, public spaces, what’s included and what’s not ( no casino, kids, photos, auctions, crowds, etc) makes it a ...

This was our third cruise with Viking ocean. We chose this trip for the itinerary. We had never been to Asia and liked the ports in both Asia and Alaska. Crossing the Int’l Dateline added to the attraction. We were in the Orion in Jan-Feb visiting New Zealand, Tasmania and Australia. This crew was better trained and worked well together. We were pleased with most aspects of the ship. A few little ...

If you want a ship with a casino, climbing wall, giant water slide, etc., ignore this review and Viking Oceans. If you seek a family cruise with you and your (non-adult) children, look elsewhere. If you like cruising with thinking people and a remarkably intelligent, attentive crew visiting an itinerary of a lifetime on an impeccable, smallish ship, read on. We are just back from Viking’s ...

Not Really Ready for Primetime Ocean Sailing

First Time Cruiser • Age 70s

Overall thing wer going well. The television had a tendency to stop and start at random, but that was minor. Crew was efficient and friendly. Food was very good. Leaving St Petersburg noticed that a Costa ship had passed us shortly after leaving port. When we awoke we were not in Tallinn and the Captain announced the engine problem. From there things quickly went down hill. Everything the ...
