This was our third Viking ocean cruise and second on the Star. We have been on numerous Viking River cruises. The cruise had very good food for the most part, and some outstanding dishes, although during the first three dinners, despite notifying the staff, they served food (onions) that my wife could tolerate. After that, management got involved and the problem was solved. There was no wine ...
This is our second time on the Viking Star and our first "post covid" Viking Ocean Cruise. For the most part we were very pleased with our cruise. The service at all levels and from all departments was outstanding. Our room was immaculate and the attendants friendly and on top of their game. Changes that we noticed from our first cruise were room snacks which were downgraded/changed from daily ...
Our cruise overall was very good. The Star being built in 2015 and Vikings oldest ocean ship is still in lovely condition, as the crew is continually doing upkeep and maintenance. There are many comfortable public areas to sit and relax to where one would never realize there are ~900 passengers onboard. The quality of musical entertainment was outstanding. We had some great nights in the Torshavn ...
I have been on a few cruise lines and always heard that Viking is top tier. I am disappointed to say that it was not as good as it could of been.
I found it to be just above mediocre due to a couple of reasons. 1st, the food was simply average. The service in the specialty restaurants was spotty, with one night sitting there for almost an 45 minutes before getting served our food. I ...
Overall this was a very good cruise. However, since this was our first Viking Ocean cruise, I had higher expectations. The best part was the crew - they were fantastic. The ship was beautiful and our cabin (we stayed in category DV6, deck 3) was spacious enough and clean (could have used a little more drawer space - had to live out of suitcase for some items). The bathroom was also very ...
My overall rating as a 4 has mostly to do with the excursions. This trip was a typical 5 Star Viking voyage and through no fault of Viking this area just doesn't have the most exciting excursions. The Panama Canal was the highlight. Viking is still watching out for everyones safety as all the crew were masked all of the time. Our cabin attendants would have our room ready by the time we came back ...
Having sailed with a number of cruise lines, my husband and I prefer the serenity, dignity, and quality offered by Viking.
Two months prior to this September 2022 cruise we had taken a family cruise with Royal Caribbean, and the differences between RC and Viking were stark. The Royal Caribbean cruise, while fun for the younger crowd in our group, was loud, frenetic and boisterous, and the ...
We chose this cruise since we wanted to visit the Scandinavian countries. It was our first Viking experience and it met all of our expectations. The service was outstanding and the food was extremely good in all the restaurant facilities. Ample activities were offered on board ship. The entertainment was very enjoyable. The excursions were extremely organized. The entire trip was a very delightful ...
We had been looking forward to seeing St. Petersburg but understood why that stop had to be changed, of course, as well as Finland and Estonia. However the replacement stops were mostly unremarkable.
We still enjoyed the trip due to the excellent staff who were always kind and friendly making each day a joy. The entertainment was awesome! And the food was fantastic. We also very much ...
Although at the end of the active part of the pandemic Viking Star provided an excellent cruise experience. Daily PCR testing kept the management ahead of any problems. Several missed ports due to Covid. No refunds of port charges. Not much on board program offerings. Staff was excellent. Enjoyable, but not remarkable experience. Food was very good, but not up to Oceania standards. ...
