Might try Viking again in another 30 years when we fit their target audience

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Viking Sky

We had originally booked this as a Cuba cruise (until Trump put and end to that) but decided to stick with the booking after Viking offered some decent incentives. I love cruising having previously sailed with (Oceania x 2, Norwegian x 2, Celebrity x 2, Disney, Holland America, and Princess). We have sailed everything from the 4,000 passenger Norwegian Bliss to the 650 passenger Oceania Nautica, ...

I had such an incredible experience when I was on the Baltic Sea cruise in July 2019. It was my first experience of a cruise ship, and I decided that I would only travel on Viking. Unfortunately, the Caribbean cruise was a great disappointment. I chose this particular cruise so I could visit the Chicken Itza Mayan Ruins. Unfortunately, because the ship had "technical difficulties" the ship did ...

Beautiful ship & amenities, terrific crew, but too many days at sea

We selected this cruise because Cuba was originally on the itinerary. Through no fault of Viking, this port of call was cancelled due to a change in government policy. We still kept the reservation, as we wanted to visit the Central American places on the itinerary, as well as part of the Panama Canal. We knew we had some days at sea, but because of winds and rough seas, in addition to the Cuba ...

Disappointing

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Viking Star

We liked the ship, the Star, very much -- size, etc. We had a suite and it was great -- large and very comfortable. We were very disappointed with the food and the service. The food was just average -- like a Princess or Royal Caribbean cruise ship. Certainly nothing special. The service in the restaurants and buffet was very spotty -- sometimes good but sometimes very lax. The staff seemed ...

Expected better

We chose this cruise because we had heard such wonderful things about Viking River cruises. The timeframe and itinerary fit our needs. Our expectations were of luxury and perfection. Pros: The ship was beautiful and well maintained. The staff was so friendly. We were in Explorer Suite 3095. We have been on other high end cruises, also in suites. The suite was the largest one we had been ...

Great Ship but Cuba Ports are horrible

Review for a Cuba Cruise on Viking Star

We chose this cruise due to the high Viking reviews. The Star ship was a great ship, but the ports in Cienfuegos and Santiago De Cuba are horrible. We took a private tour to Havana, and Havana is a great city, but it was a 3 hour plus drive. We would recommend you finding a cruise ship that ported in Havana before choosing the Cultural Cuba Itinerary. What we loved about the ship ...

Nice ship but the ports are poor

We are currently on the cultural Cuba cruise, and I would not advise anyone to take any cruise to Cuba unless you can be in Havana for 3 days. The Cienfuegos and Santiago ports are very lame. Havana was fantastic but the drive is over 6 hours on very poor roads. We will try to plan another trip to Havana only in the future. The ship is beautiful, but seems to shake more in the ocean than other ...

Nice hotel; poor travel experience

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Zhao Shang Yi Dun (Viking Sun)

The GOOD: Kudos to Ahmed, Restauant Supervisor, who personally extended himself to be sure my dietary restrictions were met . The spa, gym, Meet & Mingle, cooking class, all outstanding! The cabin, crew, Wi-Fi and amenities on the ship were great. The BAD: Only a few hours in most ports so not enough time to really see or do on Turquoise Caribbean. The Ugly: The excursion.vendors frantic to ...

Not competitive with other luxury cruises

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Zhao Shang Yi Dun (Viking Sun)

We have cruised previously with both Seabourn and Silversea, as well as Viking River and we chose this cruise because we had read superb reviews and we were curious about Viking Ocean. The Viking Sun is a beautiful ship with absolutely stunning common areas. Housekeeping and cabin service is superb. Everything is clean and shiny and new. The problem is that service elsewhere on the ship is ...
