Wanted to go through the Panama Canal locks without spending too many days at sea. Perfect for experiencing the operation of the locks. Our prior Viking experiences are with the river cruises. This was even better.
The rooms were exceptional, especially the layout of the bathrooms. Food is exceptional, especially Manfredi's, the Italian food and wine, the service could not be better. We ...
We liked the itinerary and the small ship size. Too bad we had to drop the scheduled port of the Grand Cayman. We had been to Jamaica before and do not much care for that country so we didn't mind losing that stop. We loved the staff--all were super friendly and outgoing. Viking Ocean definitely cares about its guests. We were disappointed with the dining experience at Manfredi's. We ate there 2x. ...
We did a river cruise for my retirement two years earlier and loved the Viking experience, with the exception that the food was not what we expected and very disappointing compared to other cruise lines we have experienced, i.e. lacking vegetables, salads, healthier foods, chef had poor choices/poor preparations. Then we tried the ocean cruise for my husband's retirement, because we wanted to ...
This was my second Viking cruise and I was not disappointed. I traveled with a couple.
The embarkation process was flawless. Disembarkation was delayed about 35 minutes from the scheduled time. When we arrived at the airport there were other buses from other cruises at the curbside area so there was a wait to check in and in the beginning there were only two agents checking people in. When ...
We chose this cruise because we wanted a warm climate to escape from the winter, because we had never seen this part of the world, and because we love Viking cruises.
We thoroughly enjoyed Key West, especially Truman’s Little White House. Our guide was excellent and made the rich history come alive. In Colon, Panama, we visited the Embera Native Village and were enthralled with the people and ...
Food was delicious. Champagne and other little treats were a nice surprise at different times. Specialty dining room experience was a very enjoyable experience with fantastic food and wait staff. All the staff including those cleaning were always very friendly and welcoming. Very talented entertainment crew. Although the entertainment staff was small each night they mixed up the performers ...
Another great trip on Viking. The Sky is a beautiful ship and the service is the best. The food in Manfredi's, Chef's Table, and the Restaurant was always superb. The World Cafe was good with lots of variety. Some choices were better that others. We love the made to order eggs benedict in the mornings. We also tried sushi in the World Cafe twice as our tours got in late. They do a great ...
Enjoy the smaller ship ,lack of a casino, and ports visited.
Restaurant food good but service a little slow. However this is more than offset by the wonderful selection and prep at the buffet for dinner. The grill and Ramsons offset for a fine lunch.
Only negatives were average entertainment and average movie selection.
But the outstanding staff attention and ship itself are second to ...
An early 2018 Viking Cruise from Miami to Central America was a very enjoyable first exposure to ocean cruising and a first experience on one of Viking’s new ocean cruise ships. The Viking Sky crew were great hosts making this a memorable “first” all the way around. The ship is very comfortable, the cabin was quiet and always clean, the bed inviting at night affter very busy days when we had port ...
The many repeat Viking cruisers on this ship provides proof that they enjoy the itineraries and accomodations Viking provides. Excellence in service is the norm, but the way the crew attends to the "one-offs" and occasional mis-steps by going above and beyond to make things right is the real proof of this high class operation. The ship is cleaned inside and out each day. The cabin service is ...
