We wanted a cruise over the holidays for our family, including our son and daughter in their mid twenties. We chose this as we had never been to Athens and our son had never been to Rome. We wanted a family trip over the hoiidays to interesting places and not just beaches. We got off to a bad start with travel complications and rather than arriving at 1:00 PM we did not arrive until close to midnight. Once on board the rooms were very nice and the food was great. We had only done river cruises before and liked the small size of those ships so wondered a bit about being on a larger ship with 900 plus people. It was surprisingly uncrowded, there were several bar areas and food options and it never seemed crowded. Unlike the river cruises, you did not see the same people repeatedly. There were several times where I met interesting people and hoped to see them again and did not. You needed to get names and contact information if you wanted to see them again, it usually did not happen by chance. December 24 the sea was quite rough and it was a bit of a challenge walking around the ship. We did have a lot of family meals together which was nice. We enjoyed most of the shore excursions, the first day walking the Acropolis with a great guide was nice. At Ephasis the guide gave the impression Viking had endorsed the carpet market we were taken to and there was huge pressure to buy a carpet as we were the last ship of the season. Viking should have made it clear in advance about this situation. Read Less

Our short but sweet “Journey to Antiquities” cruise is over but will remain a special memory for a long, long time! We boarded the beautiful Star in Athens and we were able to go to our stateroom immediately. A last minute upgrade put us in a Penthouse Junior Suite which was a lovely space but the inclusion of free laundry (including dry cleaning!) was the biggest perk! Our housekeeping team was phenomenal … at every step they were eager to make sure that we were comfortable and had whatever we needed and/or wanted. This was a somewhat abbreviated version of the cruise. We had two sea days which were the 24th and 25th. That meant that we had only four ports before disembarking in Rome. We really didn’t miss the extra stops as we truly enjoy the time we spend on the ship and we were looking for some R&R on this trip. There were two sea days (back to back the 24th and 25th). There were lots of on board activities planned but the first day we had some really rough seas and ended up hunkering down in the cabin … navigating the ship was a challenge for all but the most sure footed! Things finally settled down during the night and we enjoyed a calm and peaceful Christmas day! Dining was, as always, a pleasure. We are not fussy eaters and although I love to cook I do enjoy occasionally having someone else do the shopping, chopping, serving and clean up! We skipped the Chef’s Table this trip as the menus were ones we have had twice before but we enjoyed two lovely dinners at Manfredi’s. We always enjoy The Restaurant and enjoyed most of our dinners there. The service was great and the food as good as we remembered! This trip we enjoyed some lunches at the Pool Grill which were very enjoyable … we often skip the grill as it can get crowded but they seem to have added some seating to the area around the grill and seating was much easier than it seemed to have been in the past. We did a mix of included and optional tours and enjoyed them all. Athens - We did the combination Acropolis & Plaka District by Foot in Athens. It was a nice tour and not as physically challenging as we anticipated. We had thought we might stay in town and take the shuttle back to the ship but when all was said and done it would only have been about an hour and a half of extra time and the traffic was pretty awful so we headed back to the ship with the tour guide. Kusadasi (Ephesus) – We took the Ancient Ephesus tour which was great … the only thing we noticed was the fact that we were shadowed throughout the tour by groups on the included A Gentle Journey Into the Ancient World tour. Several members of our group commented that they weren’t sure what we were doing that was different but weren’t sure it was worth the cost of the excursion. Another note on the Ephesus/Kusadasi stop … we were, at the end of the tour, taken to an establishment that sold goods that were made by local artisans who were subsidized by the government and apparently recommended by Viking (and a host of other cruise lines) as authentic and of good quality. While we appreciate knowing where good quality products (rather than “made in China” junk), we weren’t in the market for high priced (no matter how high the quality) souvenirs. The people in the shop were very nice but it felt a little high pressure (we were outnumbered two to one!). If they continue to make this stop on the tour(s) keep in mind that it is easy to skip and get back to the ship on your own. The port is across the street from the shop and the ship was easy to see from the place where they have you exit the bus. Chania (Crete) – We did the included tour here and enjoyed it very much. It is a charming town and there was a lot to see. I wish we had had more free time but it was adequate enough for non-shoppers. In Naples we did the Sorrento and Pompeii combination. We did Sorrento first thing in the morning which was a change from the printed itinerary but our guide suggested that traffic along the main road into the city could be problematic later in the day. Sure enough as we were leaving town the traffic into town was horrendous! We enjoyed a relatively quick trip to Pompeii where we had time for a quick piece of pizza before we began our tour. Pompeii was fascinating and we would have liked to have had more time there but we did feel that we got a good overview during our tour. We enjoyed a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice after the tour and enjoyed a lovely drive back to the ship. Another highlight of the trip was the extension Ultimate Italy / Umbria. The castle (yes, we stayed in a freaking castle!!!) was amazing and our guide took good care of us. There were only ten of us on the extension and everyone was friendly and respectful of the schedule and we enjoyed a great deal of friendly and lively conversation during some wonderful meals. The food was terrific! Although we had a crazy early departure time on the day we were to fly home Viking provided a private driver who got us to the airport comfortably and in plenty of time for a pre-flight breakfast. I would absolutely recommend this extension … or the one to Tuscany which we enjoyed last year! Both were awesome … but then of course Italy is awesome, isn’t it? All in all … great cruise, great time! Can’t wait for the next one … summer on the river! Read Less

A new experience for us to see ancient sites in Greece and Turkey and to again explore Pompeii with family. A new ship put into service in May 2015, Viking Star is state of the art cruising limited to 930 over 18 age passengers. This is our second Viking Christmas week ocean cruise in the Med with grand daughters. Everything was fabulous- the weather, cabin, dining, activities, and shore excursions! A day and a half at sea was a bit much and we would have liked to have stopped in Sicily which was on the original route when booked. Christmas dinner was very special with lobster and beef Wellington. The spa has many amenities including a unique snow grotto. The salute to ABBA show was very lively and everyone was in a festive mood. We stayed an extra two days in Rome to explore the Vatican and ancient sites with great Italian food. We would definitely go again. Read Less

I had never done an Atlantic crossing, and the itinerary looked great. And - it was on Viking, so I felt it would be the best experience. For the most part, it was really interesting and met/exceeded my expectations. Only a few drawbacks for me: 1. Really bad weather and rough seas the first 4 days, obviously NOT Viking's fault, but I did not enjoy that much time being very seasick. Thank goodness meclizine was available free of charge. 2. Due to the weather, we stopped in Maderia rather than the Azores, no big deal except for the timing. We stopped there after one day of sailing, rather than 2 to the Azores. Then we sailed all the way to Miami with no other stop. That was a VERY long stretch at sea, and despite interesting speakers & presentations, it got boring. We seemed to have had ample to make a more southern Caribbean port call on the way to Miami, as we spent most of 2 days cruising in north-south runs to kill time. It would have felt better if the Captain had told us that we were unable to stop anywhere else due to contract issues, or whatever. Many people on the ship were unhappy about this situation. Otherwise - it was our usual fabulous time with Viking - great cabin, absolutely outstanding service, good food & wines. While I don't feel the need to do another Atlantic crossing, I certainly will continue to be a very loyal Viking fan, and have already booked my next cruise! Read Less

I saw the December cruise from Rome to Athens advertised in August. It was a good deal so I booked the cruise for my husband and me. We had taken a Viking River Cruise in 2018 and have a Viking Alaska cruise booked for June 2020. Our first ocean cruise was fantastic, despite the fact that we missed the Naples port and our Pompeii excursion due to 65 mph wind and 17 ft seas in Civitavechia. We sailed directly to Sicily on the following morning-definitely the correct decision by our delightful Captain, " a Viking from Norway". The ships are beautifully decorated in clean Norwegian style. The Christmas decorations were beautiful! There is no feeling of being crowded on these ships because there are so many places to "hang out". The staff was fantastic! Service is great in every way and everyone is so genuinely friendly! Our cabin steward, James, saw that my husband uses a C-pap and ordered demonized water for him-without having been asked. We had great service from and great conversations with my husband's favorite bar-tender, Apri, and Margerite, the adorable server who introduced me to a Proscecco and raspberry liqueur drink: Fantastic! And the best part is that Apri is scheduled to be on our Alaska cruise in June! Shore excursions were very good. Tour guides were knowledgeable and spoke good English. The only excursion that disappointed was in Turkey. Not being familiar with the geography, we booked a tour to St. John's Basilica and the Temple of Artemis-not realizing they are outside of the ancient city of Ephesus, so we did not visit Ephesus. Also the last step of the tour w a s to a carpet store, where the sales people were very high pressured! Food was good. Manfredi's and the Chef's Table were very good. I had one of the best burgers I've ever had at the pool grill. I did not think the choices in The Restaurant were as good as on the River Cruise. You could always have steak, but I usually prefer the Regional offerings. Entertainment was fine. We became groupies for Mark, who went entertained in the lounges. The Viking band was very talented and the four young entertainers that did the Abba and Beatles shows were great. I'm not into casinos and lots of shows, so the entertainment was great to me. I liked the port talks before dinner each night on the River cruises better. The Times varied for them on the ocean cruise. The his experts talks were good. There were no lines at demarcation. Going through security leaving and returning to the ship was easy. Again, there were no lines. We love Viking so much that we don't consider taking other cruise lines. Since returning, we have booked a Viking cruise to Australia and New Zealand in January 2021, so we are now eagerly anticipating two cruises. We are also planning to take another Viking River cruise within the next two years. Read Less

This was our first Viking Ocean Cruise, it will NOT be our last. We have done many ocean cruises over the years, about 26 or so. The Viking group know how to give service and do it with a smile. During the entire cruise there was NOT one time when we ever came across a staff member that did not have a smile on their face. The food was great, the service was incredible, the ship it self was fabulous. I have to say from the time we arrived at the airport until the time we left to come home, there was ZERO complaints from any of us, there were four of us. The rooms are very well appointed, the bathrooms were amazing. The showers were top notch. You know the old saying, you get what you pay for, well, we did..... Viking is a little more money, however, if you sit down and look at it apples to apples, it really is a great value. Beer and wine with lunch and dinner in included, they did not scrimp on what they gave you. We received one FREE excursion in each port, they were well organized and gave you a great experience of each port. I totally recommend everyone try Viking. It was amazing. We enjoyed the fact there were no children on this cruise, not that we don't love them, just need adult time, which we had on this cruise. There were so many different things to do during our time on board, we never had an opportunity to be board. Read Less

This was the first cruise my husband and myself have been on. We have done quite a few land tours, but hadn't done a cruise yet. We were pleasantly surprised to find out how relaxing it was and really enjoyed the experience. We especially liked the ease of embarkation & disembarkation. One of the pluses of a cruise, is not having to repack your suitcase every couple of days when you move on to the next location, like you do on a land tour. All the ship personnel were so pleasant and helpful. They went out of their way to make everything special. The ship was kept spotlessly clean the entire time we were onboard also. And there were so many different entertainment choices to pick from. The dining was excellent, having different places you could choose from too. Wonderful food at all of the restaurants. We were so pleased with the Viking Cruise, we have already booked another cruise. Well done Viking Cruises!! Read Less

To see Australia. Ship and staff were wonderful. Food in all restaurants was exceptional. Loved all the cities we visited. Wish the cruise had been longer. The weather was hot in some areas but was always comfortable aboard the ship. Met many wonderful people and made many friends. Lots of entertainment and activities to keep us busy while out to sea. Very informative information was given before each excursion. Cabins were always clean and well stocked. The ship was handled very well by the crew. We often did not even feel us leave or arrive in ports. Loved that the cruise was all adults. We are already looking for another cruise. Would like to do another ocean cruise but would also like to do a river cruise in Europe. We stayed in Sydney for two days after leaving the ship and feel Sydney is a beautiful city. Would love to visit there again sometime. Read Less

The special-ness of Viking began before we even set foot on the ship. Because of a death in the family, we called to see if we could board the second day when the ship was still in Puerto Rico. It was not only allowed, but a Viking rep arranged for a new flight and someone met us in baggage claim, took our bags outside to the taxi and loaded them for us, and sent us off with the taxi driver to our ship. This was above and beyond and we will never forget Viking's kindness. Although we had been to the U.S. Virgin Islands on a previous cruise, we hadn't been to the other islands and wanted to see more! The cruise was seamless--our captain even commented at the Farewell event that he had never seen such calm seas as we had for the entire trip. The islands have similarities, but they also have differences. We (2 couples) enjoyed all the "included" excursions on open-air buses (younger people might like more active excursions but we are heading toward 80 now) and they gave a great overview of the area without requiring a lot of walking. We did an extra excursion in St. Kitts, on the historic scenic railway, and saw some really beautiful country from the open-air train cars. Just gorgeous. This was our first Viking ocean cruise. We took the Viking river cruise down the Rhine River a couple of years ago and that's what introduced us to the Viking style. The ocean cruising did not disappoint... I can't believe how perfect everything was. Our Deluxe Veranda cabin was sleek and beautiful and cozy, I loved having a balcony with table & chairs, the bathroom in the cabin was gorgeous and roomy, the special touches, like a bottle of wine and 2 wine glasses waiting for us when we arrived, the quick attention at the Guest Services desk, the excellent staff everywhere, the smaller size of the ship meant no crowds for anything!, how spotless the ship (including the bathrooms) is kept, the beauty of the ship, and the food was excellent whether it was in one of the specialty restaurants or the pool bar -- all special and delicious. I particularly liked the chocolate croissants every morning with the great coffee, and the GELATO!!! What a surprising and delicious treat that was -- every day for lunch and dinner and sooooooo good. Oh, and a special thank you for the beautiful wash basins available just outside the restaurants, always spotless of course. We really appreciated that the ship had so many game tables on the floor above the Atrium. We play dominoes every night, and it was heavenly to listen to the piano music while we played. We also loved the guitarist who played out on the World Cafe deck in the evening. What a treat, to eat dinner al fresco while listening to his lovely music. The Viking Sea vocalists were all excellent, too. How talented they all were! We enjoyed all the shows we attended in the wonderful, comfortable theatre. We hope to do another Viking ocean cruise in the future. Thank you for a wonderful trip! Read Less

We had done three river cruises with Viking and throughly enjoyed them. This was our first ocean cruise with Viking and the experience was excellent (food, cultural enrichment, customer service, excursions). They always treat you special. They know you name and your likes and dislikes. Our Veranda Suite was great. It was spacious and very modern. The rooms were well appointed and having the mini bar included was great. The restaurants were excellent and had a good variety of food. The shore excursions were excellent, especially the whale watching in Dominica. We also had an included tour each day that gave us a good overview of each island. We feel that Viking provides the best cruises both ocean and river. They focus on cruises for adults and have appropriate activities. We highly recommend Viking cruises due to the overall experience. We will be planning more cruises with Viking in the future. Having previously cruised with Viking I knew what to expect and was not disappointed! I heard no negative comments from other guests only praise at the quality and value of a Viking Cruise! Let there be no doubt Viking is at the top of my cruise list! The Viking Sky is not the newest ship in the fleet but very well maintained -kudos to the Captain and crew! The dining was excellent with a good variety to choose from. Compared to some other companies, Viking is a standard to meet! I especially enjoyed and appreciated the assistance from arrival to departure, someone was always there to make you feel special; luggage was whisked away and properly deposited, rooms were ready, great tours were available with outstanding guides! All in all Viking can be proud! If I had to note an area that I wished to improve it would be the dinner wine list, it is purely a matter of taste but my wife and I prefer a lieblish or sweet wine, and only dry or half-dry was available without charge. I recognize most people prefer a dry wine so it’s no big issue! Read Less

We can’t say enough of the great service we have had from the ship’s crew. Our kudos to the house keeping staff for the great work they did as well as the waiters and waitresses for the excellent service most especially for the food service staff. Shore tours are well planned and included. There’s also other tours that you can do if you decide not to go on the ones that are included. We thought it would be a great trip. This was our 3rd Viking cruise. The first two were very good. This cruise was extremely disappointing. The service was very poor in dining. Sometimes there were no dishes and you had to wait and the cafe wasn't even busy. Dirty dishes piled on the table not removed, lack of beverages served. Some of the employees were miserable; on the other hand some were very nice. It was the miserable ones we had to deal with. I really feel we were discriminated against. The shore excursion manager would not assign us a bus number for our shore excursion although most people were already on the bus waiting for us. Passports were taken away for two and half weeks without an explanation. The excursions in Cambodia were a waste of time. I would not recommend Viking cruises. It was a waste of money, terrible service, and I really believe we were discriminated against. I would not recommend Viking Cruise to anyone, very rude, and expensive, My wife and myself were treated very poorly. I wrote a letter to home office expecting to hear from someone with authority, but I was wrong, I received a phone call from a low level employee, who really did not care. Never Viking again. This was a family cruise picked because the dates and ports were of the most interest to the majority of the group. The ship was a good size, easy to get around in and offering a good opportunity to get to know most of the crew and passengers. The crew was exceptional, from the housekeeping, to the beverage and dinning crew and the entertainment group (special kudos to Heather and Eion ). The cabins were comfortable and the bathrooms a good size. The planetarium and the Nordic Spa (with its steam sauna and snow room) were a unique and pleasant experience. All of us enjoyed the lectures offered, the nordic museum, and the common areas. Was somewhat disappointed with the food on the Chefs Table and Manfred's specialty restaurants and would not rate any of the excursions ( the included ones and some of the optional ones) more then mediocre. My brother, who had taken previous Viking Ocean cruises, talked me into it because my wife and I had taken several river cruises on Viking and had enjoyed them. The four of us had cruised before and enjoyed each others company. We very much enjoyed and were impressed with the Amazon River experience. I would have greatly appreciated wider WI-FI coverage. We had to very frequently rejoin the wi-fi because of lost signal. Perhaps some wi-fi repeaters placed strategically throughout the sip would help. I was very unimpressed with the pancakes and waffles on the breakfast buffet. An improved batter recipe is needed! The disembarkation in Buenos Aires amounted to a completely wasted day. We had to get out of our cabins before 8:00 and had nothing to do until leaving the ship at 10;30. Upon arrival at the Hilton, we were unable to get our rooms until 1500 and the luggage wasn't available until 1800. An entire day spent waiting. Perhaps a four to five hour shore excursion beginning at disembarkation and ending at the hotel.could be arranged. Read Less

We have sailed on multiple lines and have a number on premium lines like Oceania. Having had a positive experience on Viking River, we took our first cruise with Viking Ocean. The ship was very comfortable and the service was extraordinary. The 900 passenger size made it feel large enough to have the amenities we wanted, but small enough to be cozy and make new friends. The entertainment was very good and had a nice variety. The shows were understandably smaller than the mega ships, however very enjoyable. The restaurants had delicious food great service. The specialty Restaurants were excellent. The buffet had a good variety and was acceptable, but not outstanding. The grill-to-order steaks were excellent, but other dishes left room for improvement. We enjoyed the informative port talks and several ment lectures. Interesting subjects presented by knowledgeable folks. We thoroughly enjoyed the excursions. We appreciate the included excursions and took many with great experiences. We also took several optional excursions with positive Experiences and good value. My wife and I enjoyed our 2 additional pre cruise nights at the Hilton Midtown Hotel, New York. This was our visit visit to New York and hopefully it will not be our last. Prior to our arrival we had booked private tours of both the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building. We also enjoyed a show on Broadway. Our departure from New York was very special and made an excellent start to our cruise. The captain and crew coped extremely well with the bad weather we hit heading to Bermuda. Viking should be extremely proud of the staff who provide an excellent service onboard Viking Sea. They keep the ship beautiful clean and tidy. The ship is beautiful furnished and has a calm, relaxed, atmosphere. With there being so few passengers sun beds and tables in the various restaurants are freely available. The quality of the food is superb as was the spa. The infinity pool is a wonderful facility, it was nice when staff did not fully fill it so guests could stand. Excursions were well organised. We booked some of the included excursions and paid for some of the enhanced trips. We enjoyed our day at the Galley Bay Hotel and rail and sail excursions. Because our ship was so small it could dock in excellent locations. 2 of our visits included over night stays in harbour which was greatly appreciated. Our stateroom was in a superb state of repair and kept nice and clean by cabin staff. We twice enjoyed breakfast on our balcony c/o room service. The pool and gym facilities are superb. It would have been nice if Yoga sessions were provided free of additional charge and at better times to suit guests. Spa treatments and items for sale in the shops were extremely expensive. The various talks/lectures were highly informative and well presented. Our only constructive comments would include improving the evening entertainment and increasing the number of staff in the restaurants. Viking could benefit from trying to attract more younger passengers as many of those on board were very elderly and frail. Some of the classical music which was performed in the atrium seemed quite morbid. Some more cheerful music, ie jazz, should be provided which will add to a happier, fun, holiday atmosphere. We look forward to cruising with Viking again in the future. Read Less

My husband and I were looking to do something special to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We wanted a memorable event, and particularly a cruise. So we narrowed our choices down to travel to the Galapagos or travel to China. After doing our research it seemed almost a no brainer to choose the Viking cruise with so many excursions included, the quality of the ship and the excellent service and amenities reported by previous travelers. We are avid travelers, but frankly like to stay in 4 or 5 star resorts. So, for us luxury at a good price is important. We've travelled on many other cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean, Disney, Carnival, Princess and MSC. However, this cruise far exceeded our expections in so many ways. We departed out of Beijing and ended in Hong Kong, a 14 day trip. The embarkation process was fairly easy with no surprises. Our luggage arrived very quickly (within 90 minutes of our arrival) which was a far cry from what we've experienced on other cruises. We were greeted by an enthusiastic and very friendly staff. It seemed like everyone anticipated your every need. The crew consistently greeted us wherever we went onboard. The cabin was very comfortable (we were in DV2) which was spacious enough to store luggage and lots of compartments for clothing. The ship was absolutely beautiful with so many places to sit. Everything was in working order at all times. You never felt like there were alot of people around until it was time disembark! The pool deck was cool with the retractable roof. Meals and movies were great here. Speaking of meals, the food was absolutely superb. Loved the idea that you could making dining reservations at the restaurants in advance and that they were included in your cruise price. I think that was the best thing about the cruise, you didn't feel like you were nickled and dimed about everything. Most everything was included. Excursions were terrific and the guides were superb. We did so many tours and learned so much by the resident docents. All in all, this was one of the best vacations we've ever been on. We definitely look forward to our next Viking cruise once we are empty nesters! Read Less

We chose this cruise because we wanted to try a Viking Ocean Cruise. And the itinerary was the Norwegian Fjords, which was an itinerary that we wanted. We have over 40 cruises on another cruise line but we wanted to experience a smaller ship. The cruise, and Viking, exceeded our expectations. The service, the food, the entertainment and the excursions were all simply outstanding. In the fall we did a cruise with the cruise line that we usually sail with and it was impossible not to compare it to Viking. I’m afraid that Viking has hopelessly spoiled us. The quality of the food on the other cruise line that we sail with could not begin to compare to Viking. And we found the constant sales pitches/photographers/art auction on that cruise line irritating. Viking does none of that, which is so refreshing. We have already booked another Viking Ocean Cruise and we are so looking forward to this cruise. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we have always wanted to see Iceland and wanted to go back to Bergen. So this was the perfect cruise for us. This itinerary was perfect as we got to visit Greenland, Newfoundland and Canada. We have been to Antarctica so this was our chance to go to the Artic Circle. The service from the staff was great especially our cabin stewards and Ronald our waiter at Dinner. Every night at dinner he would go over the menu and discuss each dish by telling us what was in the dish and how it was prepared. We especially enjoyed the talks given on the Human Planet. What beautiful pictures and very interesting about how the photography was done. The excursions were very interesting to visit some of the old Viking villages to see how they lived. Also got to see a replica of an old Viking ship. Couldn't image how the survived in those boats. Read Less

We chose this cruise because we love cruising. We find this way of travelling very relaxing and at the same time interesting. You can visit many cities and have a general idea of all the places the ship stop. The ship has all you need to have a fantastic vacation time. We never have to wait for a table to eat. The restaurants, all of them are amazing. The chef Ivan, from Chile took really good care of us. He showed as the kitchen and we were surprised how everything was being prepare for each meal in all of the restaurants. The cabin was very comfortable, as well as the bed and pillows, but the best part in the cabin was the bathroom. Really big for a ship bath with warm floor. They have service twice a day to keep the cabin always tidy and clean. We love the entertainment, the 4 young vocalists were exceptional, same as the pianists and the 2 girls who played stringed instruments. We only were sad because the ship couldn't stop in Poland port due to weather conditions. The excursions were very interesting same as the guides, specially Helen in Saint Petersburg. We did some included excursions and some prepaid ones. We already booked a future trip to Egypt in a Viking river for 2021. We recommend the pre and post cruise extensions, both great options, we enjoyed them a lot. We value very much; the quality of service Viking has. Although we did many other cruises with other companies, this last one was overall the best ever. Thanks Viking crew and everyone on the ship for a great experience and a phenomenal vacation. We did the Baltic cruise and it was wonderful. We extended at the beginning of the trip in Stockholm. In the past, with extensions there were some planned city excursions; however, we were pretty much on our own here. There were Viking people available to help with any questions and/or suggestions of things to do. Once aboard the ship, it was like coming home again! Everyone was so welcoming and from the housekeeping to the Captain-everyone is treated first class. The seas weren’t too rough at all and we made good time into our ports of call. The cabin ,we always get one with a balcony , was waiting clean and ready for us with our luggage in the room. Daily housekeeping staff, we always right on top of making sure everything was perfect. We especially enjoyed the food in the World Cafe and the sandwiches from the deck restaurant. Food is always good and you can find something to suit your appetite. We took advantage of seeing parts of Russia, Norway, Sweden and Poland. One of our favorite excursions was to Tallinn. We also took the day trip to Berlin. Well worth the time. We traveled by train. When we got back, it seemed the whole staff was out to greet us!! The shows produced were a great addition especially the Beatles tribute and ABBA! All of our transfers were handled with ease and made us feel very secure and confident that we would be where we needed to be when we needed to be there! Read Less
