Very nice ship with a few shortcomings

Overall, we loved the ship - the size was about perfect to have more amenities but not too many people. The stateroom and public spaces were very comfortable and well done without being ostentatious. The food was generally very good but there were some definite misses. The asian style dishes were generally excellent as were breakfasts and lunch in the cafe. We found most pastries to be ...

High expectations, mixed results

Our first cruise on Viking. We'd heard a lot of good things so wanted to try them. Since they offer a premium experience at a higher price, my bar was higher. I'm comparing them to our usual line NCL where we are Latitudes Platinum so get some additional benefits. Some of the benefits were as advertised. No crowds, no nickel and diming, no casinos, NO KIDS. Embarkation and disembarkation were ...

Cruise was great / airline accommodations was bad

The cruise itself was fabulous. The state room was beautiful and spacious, food was amazing, staff members outstanding. After the fabulous experience throughout the cruise, the last leg of the trip was a complete flop. We were booked (through Viking) for a connecting flight in Istanbul on Turkish Airlines. Turkish Airlines was awful and I would specifically request to never be booked on any of ...

My wife and I have had wonderful experiences with Viking River cruises. We've always wanted to see Greece so we decided to give their Ocean cruises a try. The education and history on the ports is a major plus. I also like that they aren't trying to sell me something all cruise long. The tour guides on the included excursions were excellent. We booked an extension called Secrets of the Doge's ...

From the minute we walked on board we could feel the elegance of a Viking Ship. Our State Room was ready and it was what I expected and more. The choices of food are outstanding, and many I have never had before. Service on the ship made us feel like family, all crew members we encountered go above and beyond to help you. Some excursions were cancelled due to high winds at port. Whenever ...

Comfortable and clean

The ship was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very pleasant, and the customer service was outstanding. The spa was incredibly difficult to get an appointment in with their limited staff. The two exclusive restaurants were only easily accessible to those that had larger suites. Me and my traveling companions are incredibly nice tippers so we were able to enjoy extra visibility by the staff ...

A great cruise could have been even better.

Oh, how we wanted to love our first Viking cruise! All the advertising and all our friends and family said Viking’s the best, with all-balcony staterooms, a truly all-inclusive program, no one under 18 and lectures instead of casinos. And we fully understand that weather happens, and the storm that trapped the Viking Venus in Tromsø, Norway, definitely was beyond Viking’s control. And Viking ...

We loved this voyage! The trip is for someone who is adventurous and doesn't mind being cold, wet, and blown around. Be prepared for 3 hours max daylight each day. The ship rocked substantially but I found it was manageable with a seasick pill every now and then and wrist bands. I didn't know of anyone who got sick. If anything the banging and creaking wall noises during the rough seas was the ...

Very Nice ship but disappointing Itinerary

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Neptune

We chose this cruise in 2019 for my husband's 70th birthday in 2020. The Holy Lands was a Bucket List destination. However, with COVD in 2020 and 2021 we pushed our cruise to November 2022. Then a death in the family forced us to push the cruise to 2023. Little did we know a war in Israel would start only days before our sailing and would prevent us from visiting the Holy Lands. It was now too ...

Expected more activity on board and enthusiastic excursion guides

Viking shipboard service was impeccable. The included excursions did not always match their descriptions, especially the driving excursions. Some of the excursion guides seemed to lack training and enthusiasm which made the excursion below expectations. Viking food was okay, nothing special Twice menu items preselected for medical diet were unavailable because the wrong menu was ...
