Southern Caribbean.-small ship-Inclusive package Embarkation from airport cumbersome--check in @ terminal very efficient. Disembarkation @ 5:15 AM very organized with coffee & transport to airport. Ship was very sleek & clean. Cabin layout/storage above expectation. No children. Not handicapped friendly--wheel chairs on board for emergencies only. Dining-Buffet variety excellent -rock crab claws had no flavor(probably soaked in water to defrost). The 2 upscale restaurants were below par--ate at each & canceled 2nd chance and ate mostly @ THE RESTURANT. The music in the Atrium was boring & repetitious. Room service excellent. Overall staff service very good. Mini Bar included the Penthouse Veranda replenished daily--2 beers,1 mini bottle each of scotch, gin, vodka, rum. Sodas & candy bars. Shore excursions included were extremely disappointing. Winding rough bus rides in the hills to visit a church, graveyard with tombs decorated with blue and white tiles. The expectation visiting the Caribbean is the water, beaches etc. Read Less

We had never sailed on Viking and wanted to try a new line. We did not explore our departure city but did the Bacardi rum factory instead. Embarkation and disembarkation were very smooth. Getting through customs was very easy. The ship was beautiful, the staff were exemplary and the food was great. The salt shakers in the upstairs dining area need updated and the mini bar supply needs improved.. we would love to do Costa Rica and the Panama Canal just not sure if on Viking or another line.. We were pleased with the spa area- we had massages and took advantage of the Nordic spa room. We were a little disappointed with the main dining room - when we ate there the first night we were there for three hours with a lot of waisted time. The food food was not bad but the service needed improvement. Our experience with the Italian restaurant was the same the first night - service was not top notch. Overall the cruise was very nice and we would do Viking again. We would like to do a river cruise one day. Read Less

Been on Start in the east Mediterranean and loved the ship. This trip was even better! We had a suite for a reasonable price and the best part was being able to be at a different Island every day. Learned a lot, snorkeled often, enjoyed the beaches and towns. We started actually in Puerto Rico and island hopped down to Barbados and back. The ship is excellent and well maintained. Staff are helpful and courteous. Just a good, memorable experience. Not sure what else I can say - this was 3rd Viking trip, we have 2 more already scheduled. In May we are Paris to Normandy and back, France river trip and in October 2017 we are going to the Mekong. We like the Viking trips because they are a good value and we feel safe and comfortable. Cabins are comfortable, there are dining choices, service is good, and the excursions are usually good. Read Less

The date of departure fit our vacation and destination. Viking is still struggling to be an Ocean operator. The crew to passenger ratio seems to be be 1 to 2 or less. Included tours was not worth our time - mainly a bus ride nothing worth $200 per person. No Viking staff were on any excursion which was a disappointment. The shore talks reflected the fact that the staff had not been on many, if any, of the tours. The shore excursion reminded me of Oceania when they were just beginning -- I will give them more time to improve. Their embarkation was the best ever - HANDS DOWN! Our cabin was a suite, but had no butler or other amenities one has come to expect on a Luxury Vessel. I agree the Entertainment was hit or miss, mostly miss, but the Paris Review was great and not to be missed. Service at mealtime was terrible (get rid of those handheld devises) and dining room very noisy. Don't be put off by the line after the the shore talks or other get togethers it goes fast, fast than the rest of the meal. Prepare to spend 2 hours or more for dinner. The wait staff seems to be able to do only one table at a time, the waiter has on assistant and has 20 plus dinners to wait on. They are also the bar staff, pouring the wine and getting water and other drinks, When each course is ready the waiter brings it our, that is really hard for a 10 top! Our cabin staff was very good and experienced. we had some problems with the a/c and they were on top of it! I can't say the same for the maintenance staff. The Hotel Manager was on top of thing and the Customer Service Manage was very helpful and ready to assist whenever needed - she seemed to be everywhere. We did not use the Fitness & Recreation area. The overall experience was different I would say. The layout around the pool and Wintergarden was great, Loungers facing out to sea and a very cool area for reading and relaxing. Wonderful areas to play games and talk to fellow passengers. The Explorers Lounge is the most under used area on the ship. Continental type breakfast is served as well as a lite lunch. The 270 degree view will wow the most experienced cruisers. I am not use what they are asking for. The ship does not have many public room but rather long hallways with game tables, chairs and tables and easy chairs and sofas. The value for the money I said was average. I was expecting a luxury cruise and got an up scaled river cruise. Read Less

Overall, we had no complaints about our recent cruise. We were pleased and plan to book another cruise or river tour soon. Our favorite free tour was the walking tour in Old San Juan. Some of the other free tours weren't of the same quality, but I think some of the islands are better tourist destinations than others. We booked specials tours: beach, snorkeling, a sugar cane train, and visit to a rain forest. We enjoyed the wide selection of dining opportunities and most especially the Chef's Table and the Italian restaurant. We found our cabin to be "roomy" for a ship and appreciated things like a larger shower, vanity table with mirror, and storage options. The entertainment was varied, and we celebrated welcoming in the New Year at a fun, memorable party. Spa and exercise facilities were nice; we had facials and massages. We appreciated the smaller cruise ship. We noticed that Viking passengers didn't have the long lines to embark and/or disembark the ship as did some of the other ships in port. We attended two of the visiting professors' lectures and found them to be informative and interesting. We would not hesitate to recommend Viking; this was our second experience. It won't be our last. Viking lived up to their reputation. This was the most restful cruise I have ever been on and the crew, although most were fairly new to ocean cruises, were very polite and helpful. The ship was beautiful with their spa like bathroom (which included heated floors) and the cabin was very clean and modern. The toiletries were name brand and replenished regularly. Selection of movies great, but other TV shows catered to Europeans and not Americans. The food in the World Café was top notch with the food in the dining room being a little less than what I expected (not always hot). Loved having the shore excursions included. The extra touches they provided, like cold bottle water when leaving the ship and cold towels and some times champagne on the return puts them over the top. Shows were professionally done. Only complaint is if you didn't get tickets the second they were available (no charge) you couldn't get into some of the shows (like the Rat Pack) I will definitely be cruising with Viking again.
