Chose this trip because the itinerary visited the parts of Scandinavia we were interested in. All ship staff were exceptional, well-trained and friendly. Our penthouse veranda room was excellent. The entertainment was better than expected. The food was good but not exceptional. The pretrip excursion was enjoyable. The port talks were well done. Excursion options were expensive and were included ...
We traveled on the Waterways of the Tsars with Viking a few years ago before covid hit. It was an exceptional experience. We decided to try the ocean cruise combined with a river cruise for my wife's and my 65th birthdays. Together we totally enjoyed the ship. The staff was superb and the food outstanding. We were quite disappointed with all of the land excursions. I guess we were spoiled on ...
The impetus for choosing the British Isles Explorer Ocean cruise was the discovery through ancestry searches that both my husband and I had family origins in Scotland. This specific cruise afforded us the opportunity to visit six countries and 12 ports including five in Scotland. The four speakers who gave daily talks about the places we were going to visit, along with the ship's Norwegian ...
This was our second Viking Cruise, and it didn’t disappoint! The Venus is less than two years old and was still immaculate. All of the five onboard restaurants offered wonderful selections and great service. We didn’t take advantage of very much of the onboard entertainment; but enjoyed what we did attend immensely. As for the shore excursions, some were delightful; especially Bergen, Shetland ...
Northern lights cruise. We saw them several times. Food was good overall, although pastries and deserts were sub standard with the exception of the blueberry muffins which were great.service was very good in the dining room. Food over cooked in the buffet.
Room was a deluxe balcony with large bathroom. Very nice balcony. Would sail again with Viking. Comparable. to Oceania. The room steward ...
We choose this specifically to see the Northern Lights–which we did!
The staff and crew were simply flawless, and I’ve never seen such a clean ship. The food was quite good. Very nice fitness center!
Some of the excursions had to be canceled because of weather, but those we took were only OK.
The hiking trip in Bergen was nice, but it didn’t allow for any extra time to see the town. ...
This trip was postponed from over a year ago due to Covid. The excursions we were able to choose from were exceptional. We are history buffs, so being able to walk the beach of Normandy and Stone Henge was quite memorable. We were also able to explore Puerto by Segway. That was a new experience. We went into many ports that were small, so the towns were not over crowded with the exception of ...
The ship: A+. It’s gorgeous. Beautifully decorated and furnished. The common areas look like something out of a magazine. Lots of thought (and money) went into it. Stateroom was tight but adequate.
The food: B. It was good, but not great. We’ve had better in mid-range restaurants. With the cafeteria-style World Café serving almost the same menu as the white tablecloth Restaurant, we found it ...
I chose this cruise to visit many places that were new to me. The ship facilities and crew were very nice. The food and wines were delicious and varied. I enjoyed dining at the specialty restaurants also.
My biggest disappointment was lack of free time to shop after included tours. Because of the distance between the port and city downtown area ( in many ports), it was difficult to get ...
This cruise left out of Bergen Norway, to the Norwegian Fjords, Oslo, Denmark, and ending in Amsterdam. We ended up not being able to stop in Denmark because of high winds, so they headed to Amsterdam, and we got two days there instead.
We chose Viking Ocean initially because we had heard such great things about them, and we prefer a smaller ship with less passengers. They are more ...
