We decided to cruise with family and friends this time around. This was our 2nd ocean cruise plus we already have been on two previous river cruises with Viking. Our 2 adult nephews and their wives joined us and since this was to be their first time cruising, we choose Viking to make it a memorable trip for them. In addition two of our long time friends joined us to make it a group of eight ...
We had heard nothing but great things about Viking from several friends so we decided to give it a try. Our expectations were met on almost every level. Our room was great and the amenities were well designed and maintained. The staff who took care of out room were great. Food was excellent - several levels above what we have experienced in other travel. We ate most of our meals at the pool ...
We learned about Viking Cruises from our friends who had taken two Viking River Cruises and had signed up for the Viking British Isles ocean cruise and asked us to go with them. The Viking Sun was a beautiful ship with a comfortable amount of passengers booked, not crowded like other cruise lines. Other things we liked over other cruise lines were no camera photographers, no children, no ...
We wanted a Nordic cruise, and Viking offered an excellent itinerary with "Into the Midnight Sun." This cruise offers a great look at the coastal cities and fjords of Norway, with later stops at the Shetland and Orkney Islands and then Scotland and England. We added a three day trip to Oxford that included visits to Blenheim Palace and Highclere Castle (Downton Abbey) and loved it!
The ship was ...
I have always wanted to see the fjords, despite having no connection to Scandinavia. Cruising is the only way to fully experience these magnificent waterways and the majestic mountains that limn the coast for a thousand miles. Viking stresses education along with the fun of travel, and the lectures and presentations on board were enlightening and quite entertaining as well. Every effort was made ...
Loved Viking's selection of the ports of call in Norway and Scotland. They captured the beauty of the areas and most towns were small enough so you could see how the people of the area lived. The food in the restaurants - even the World Café - was top notch. The staff was excellent and helpful. Several staff (in the restaurants, Explorer Bar, room attendant) made a point to greet us by name in ...
This is our first Viking ocean cruise, our second Viking cruise and our fifth cruise overall. We chose Viking for our Norway-London trip because of the amazing experience on the Amsterdam-Budapest riverboat cruise -- and we are glad we did! We enjoy the "kids free" environment, the focus on local culture and, of course, the friendly faces of the Viking crew.
My initial impression of life on ...
I wanted to take this cruise from the first time it appeared in the catalogue. It did not disappoint! Norway was stark and beautiful, 24 hours daylight was disconcerting, and the ship was new and beautiful. The staff went above and beyond to make the cruise special. It's great to meet folk from all over the world (staff and fellow travelers). The entertainment was excellent. Our resident ...
I would not hesitate to recommend this cruise to anyone. The ship was beautiful and clean, and the staff and crew were helpful, fun, and entertaining. Service was top notch.
Our cabin was always clean and pleasant, and the views outside the sliding glass doors was phenomenal. The size of the ship was just right: under 1000 guests. We've been on the mega-sized cruise ships, but much more ...
Before this cruise, we have taken Viking River Cruises. Did no know what to expect on this, our first ocean cruise with Viking. We were more than pleased. .
The ship was immaculate, from the cabins to the public restrooms.
The size of the ship was perfect, including number of guests. Lots of open space to move around, comfortable lounges, private sitting areas, and open, airy general ...
