My three positives and a negative because the world needs more positivity:
+ Stunning ship, well thought through with loads of areas to explore, read a book, and relax. We did two back-to-back cruises (for a total of 28 days) and never felt ship claustrophobia
+ Service-oriented crew that consistently showed how a simple smile can make a day
+ Little to no up charge pressure. Everything ...
My husband wanted to cruise the Suez Canal & this part of the cruise was fantastic for both of us. The narration done by the historian made it perfect. Every talk from the historians was excellent. The ship was great...service, staff, food, cleanliness, port talks, & Viking Daily with clear information about each port regarding what each country required for us to enter & leave. Negative some of ...
The itinerary looked wonderful and the end in India intrigued us. What we found less pleasurable were the included daily trips ashore.
Many were not stimulating even though our guides tried hard. We are more adventurous and would have liked on shore options that were more individual, allowing us to explore the people and the cities.
We knew there were options but to spend a long time on a ...
The Viking Mars is a lovely ship. Very modern. The food and the service are outstanding. The two 5-star restaurants are wonderful, the general restaurant and the buffet also have excellent food and wonderful choices, from steaks, chicken to fish, to sushi, really something for everyone. The staff did have a bit of trouble keeping up with all the guests at peak dining time clearing a resetting ...
I chose this cruise because I have been on a few Viking cruises and have been extremely impressed by them. The thought of spending 2 days in Bali and 2 in Bangkok, going to Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand sounded very exotic and far out of my normal travel destinations. The first day in Bali was really traveling as was the second day in Bangkok. Unlike other cruises I have been on, the ...
Before I start on anything else, let me say that Viking is still my preferred cruiseline.
I loved my days and nights on the Viking Mars, surrounded by (mostly) like-minded people and crew members who went out of their way to make things as (Covid-)safe and as serene and comfortable as they might be. I loved our cabin and all the different onboard spaces, and I even enjoyed the smooth “At Sea” ...
Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia is a relatively new destination for Viking. The Mars is new as of 2022 and is a beautiful ship. Viking doesn't appear to have the knowledge or connections as of yet in this area. The excursions were generally poorly planned and executed. On-ship excursions and customer service support appeared to have no knowledge of the regions visited. I'd rate the ship ...
We have cruised on 5 different Cruise Lines in the past so feel we have a good point of reference to review a Ship and this one gets (in our opinion):
A++ for Ship's Public Spaces, Service, Organization, Cleanliness, Internet Service, Crew, and Itinerary!!!
C- for cabin space.
D for FOOD. The fresh Seafood/Sushi selections were great, otherwise the food was terrible.
In the Café, not ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary. Bangkok, Singapore and Bali were places on our bucket list that we wanted to experience. Overall, the cruise was great. We have cruised with Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises many times in the past. We did a river cruise with Viking right before Covid hit, the Rhine Getaway, and was totally blown away by Viking. So, we decided to try their ocean ...
50th Birthday present for my wife. We took the Viking Danube river cruise in 2019 and loved the Viking experience.
with this cruise, the information regarding arrival in Bangkok was poor. We booked a hotel ourselves as the flight arrived in the early hours. There turned out to be many people arriving at the same time. Viking representatives (excellent as always) met us (a surprise as there was ...
