The cruise was outstanding. Meals were excellent. Cruise ship was immaculate. Enjoyed this cruise immensely. Viking is more expensive but no extra cost on the ship and includes a lot that other cruise ships charge for. The Prestine Alaska pre-cruise tour was great. 2 days in Fairbanks, 2 days in Denali, 2 days in Talkeetna and 2 days in Seward. This included most meals and several excursions. ...

Outstanding Ship and Service!

My husband and I sailed on the Viking Orion to Alaska on July 10, 2023. The ship is beautiful and so clean! The service was impeccable in all aspects of the ship. The food was excellent. We ate most of our meals in The Restaurant and ordered room service many times for breakfast which was always served promptly, and the order was always complete with hot and cold food. For a buffet, the World Cafe ...

Great Trip

We chose this cruise because we had credits from a cancelled European river cruise that was scheduled during Covid. Alaska seemed like a safer bet at the time we had to make a decision for our itinerary. Before the trip I wasn't overly excited about it, but the cruise turned out to be very enjoyable and enlightening. Viking offers exceedingly professional yet friendly service by its employees. ...

we chose Viking because, as mature people we like their focus on "no kids, no casinos", assuming that they target individuals like ourselves. while the ship was impressive and the crew delightful, we traveled with a friend who has difficulty walking long distances, and Viking had NO options for him, nor did they respond--both before and during the cruise--to his requests for assistance. They ...

I had a credit from COVID and had never seen Alaska. Viking did a great job with everything. The food was outstanding - I only had one item I didn't love - the eggplant cannelloni! The guest lecturers were very informative and well-spoken. My only suggestion would be to move up the 6:30 lectures to 5:30 because I feel more people would attend. The cruise director, Heather ...

Excursions not up to Viking Standards

We chose this cruise because we always wanted to go to Alaska. For the first time we had Viking book our air and unfortunately United Airlines turned out to be a nightmare. We had to fly to Anchorage and then take a two hour bus ride to Seward where we met the Orion. We didn't arrive until late afternoon and at that point had no idea where our room was since we were not assigned a room. At 4 pm ...

Senior leadership were wonderful. Wait staff was great. Customer service agents on board could improve. Loved the restaurant. Did not care for the Chefs table menu. Manfedis restaurant was good. A little disappointed with excursion description on a few of them. The whale watch we thought would be more informational as described in literature versus being taken out to the middle of water and ...

We chose this cruise because Alaska was on our Bucket List of things to do and because we enjoyed our previous Viking River Cruise. As always, Viking does an excellent job of taking care of its passengers. The Deluxe Veranda room was wonderful--both clean and comfortable. And the restaurants were excellent!! Servers, Room Stewards, Guest Speakers are all top notch. For entertainment (as ...

The ship is very nice. Viking does a good job with the entertainment and education opportunities. Rooms are very nice. Common gathering areas are excellent. The food is good ... and sometimes great. All Viking staff are friendly and professional. Most of the excursions are excellent. Alaska is amazing. Would highly recommend kayaking around a glacier, see the Iditarod dogs, fishing for ...

Beautiful scenery except for the fog

We wanted to see glaciers, the calving of glaciers, visit the town, learn more about the culture, see totem poles, and enjoy the journey. Getting our luggage when we arrived in Anchorage was delayed. The port authorities (only two of them) took a few hours to check everyone's vaccines, etc. The scenery on the bus from Anchorage to Seward was spectacular. We didn't see much scenery because of heavy ...
