A friend is a travel agent and she recommended the Viking. Because we are all over 60 with friends traveling together this cruise fits our needs. The ambiance is very important and the excursions as well. The Vikings provided all what we were looking for. Except for the cabin that we feel a bit too small especially the bathroom/toilet. We enjoyed the excursions and the point of interests. Our guide was very courteous and knowledgeable. The cruise director always made sure we are in the group when we go out on tour and when we go back to the ship. The food is fabulous, the entertainment is very nice. We love it when we were sailing and we can seethe castles and the beautiful houses on the hills. The Captain has a sense of humor and we took pictures with him on the last night of the cruise. Overall our 7 days cruise with the loft is super fantastic. Read Less

Hard to describe the attentiveness if the crew. The Lofn was simply wonderful. It was our second Christmas Market cruise, 2015 on the Danube, 2016 on the Rhine. The Shiip was spotless, Rene, the chef and 'big Rene', the cruise director were both knowledgeable and made the ten days fly by. Food was much better than in 2015....cabin was kept spotless by Robert. Svetlana, the concierge, was very helpful with her suggestions. I have some mobility issues and she found a solution to every problem I had. Rene the cruise director also had a wonderful sense of humor and went out of his way to make the cruise enjoyable for all....especially the entertainment that came on board, much better than in 2015....ditto the demos by the kitchen staff, much better. I simply loved the Lofn and her crew and did not want the cruise to end. Only one suggestion..Viking, would have loved to buy a Charm/ Viking pendent that was sterling silver...maybe they could be ordered?? Will definitely be cruising with Viking again...river, ocean, doesn't matter....excellent experience! Read Less

I enjoy traveling to new places and accompanied a friend, who is a retired History teacher. The Lofn was my first experience on a Longship and quite different from cruising on big ocean liners, but very nice. The ports were wonderful. Our guides were fantastic. Everything was very well planned. I would have enjoyed more evening entertainment. A dress code for dinner would have been appreciated-jeans are fine during the day, but no jeans and t shirts for dinner. Including a tour of Ann Frank's house would have been appreciated. My friend waited 2 1/2 hours in line. Visiting the many cathedrals was a highlight of my trip. The tulips were gorgeous the third week in April. The dining hours for breakfast, lunch and dinner accommodated our tour times. Rene was a great entertainment director. The waitstaff went above and beyond to make sure everyone was pleased with service, food and special diets. Being able to tour the galley was an unexpected treat. Read Less

we choose this cruise for the chance to see tulips and windmills. We saw lots and lots of tulips and windmills. The service was excellent, just ask and it was done. The food service was a bit slow at times, but it was the beginning of the season and everyone was just getting used to their jobs. The chef came out during the meals and talked with the passengers to get feedback and suggestions on how to improve the meals. We really appreciated the extra effort that he made for his passengers. The excursions were fun and the optional excursions were reasonably priced. It was easy to make new friends and we formed some wonderful friendships. The cruise director kept everyone well informed at the end of every day, and kept things moving smoothly all through the day. The tour of the captain's bridge was excellent and we really enjoyed the chance to see how the ship was operated. The laundry service was excellent, with laundry returned in a short amount of time. We used our shipboard credits for this. Read Less
