First off, the the cruise was perfect - the cabins, the service, the food, the amenities. The ports were generally nice - to take pictures of from the ship! But if you have trouble walking, forget it! For a cruise line that supposedly caters to the older crowd, there is NO accommodation for the even moderately impaired. Even when a shuttle bus was offered to get into town, it was pitiful ...
We booked the cruise a little over a month before we sailed. It was the best thing we ever did.. My wife contacted a travel agent and they managed everything. The ship was great. Clean, well built and well laid out. Everything was spotless. It was easy to find your way and find what you wanted. The cabin was also spotless. It was a joy to stay there. The cabin steward was very proficient, ...
What we liked: Everything Viking did was great! The ship was modern, spotless, right-sized....just an overall wonderful ship. The staff and crew were very friendly and always willing to help. We always found something good to eat and gained the customary poundage. The destinations were fabulous on this itinerary.
What we didn't like as much: Sea days were somewhat boring. Yes, we could ...
Two problems - skipped a key port and challenging for someone with a dairy sensitivity! The itinerary for this trip looked great but we were unable to stop in Edinburgh, one of the main stops we were interested in. We spent the day cruising around the Orkney Islands instead. The scenery was beautiful, but we were really looking forward to Edinburgh. Rumors were that the ship that was blocking ...
For celebrating our 50 th anniversary we chose Viking for it’s high ratings and ideal itinerary.
Pros-
Ship is beautiful.
Embarkation was easy and well organized.
Bathroom storage is very good and heated floors with nightlights was great.
Food quality was very good.
Cabin stewards were excellent.
Cons-
Guest services- Literally, never gave us the right answer to any ...
This was our third viking cruise, (the first two were euro rivers,) and second ocean cruise ever.
I appreciate everything Viking does and tries to be. A quieter, more intimate experience with cultural enrichment and classical entertainment. The loud, roudy ocean liners with casinos, kiddos, and cigarette smoke are so not our scene.
Viking ocean cruises are a better compromise for those who ...
After 25 cruises, we thought we'd try Viking due to excellent reviews. We were underwhelmed. Firstly, two important ports were canceled (Edinburgh- another ship unexpectedly remained in the berth reserved for our ship) and Dublin due to poor weather. We received no compensation for port duties and missed excursions; we were offered $500 credit towards a future cruise. The service in the dining ...
We booked the Iceland and Norway cruise in 2020, but were unable to go. We finally made it in 2022. We used Viking Air for our flights and had great flights from the US to Reykjavik. We arrived early in the morning so Viking picked us up and took us to a conference hall for breakfast and to wait until we could board our ship. Once on the ship, all the staff were friendly and willing to help. ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary, which did not disappoint. It was our first time cruising with Viking (but we are experienced with many other cruise lines). It would take a lot of thinking to find fault with the trip.
The staff in the Explorer’s Lounge learned our names and drinks before the ship set sail and remembered us every time we visited. Staff in the World Cafe similarly got to ...
We chose this cruise because of the ports they visited and the pre-cruise extension. The pre-cruise extension had 2 nights in Oslo and 2 additional nights in Bergen. In both locations the hotels Viking booked us in were excellent. We loved their central locations where we could walk to everything or have easy access to transportation. The train ride from Oslo to Bergen was beautiful. The fjords in ...
