Durnstein. Delightful Village that was an alternative port of call. Spent a lovely afternoon and even attended a craft fair where my daughter got some hand dyed yarn! Also had a delicious pint and some wild mushroom soup!

Viking Danube cruise was fine

I chose this cruise because I wanted to do a river cruise. Viking may be the best river cruise operator but I found the cruise to be average. When we went to destinations, we were all on buses following a leader with a paddle board…..and not only would our 190 passengers be there, but several other Viking ships’ 190 passengers. The bedroom was small, the food was good. I did not like the ...

1) Biggest concern--illness on board that Viking covered up My husband and I just returned from cruising the Danube on the Viking Ingvi. While we went on this cruise with great anticipation, the cruise quickly turned disastrous. Many people became sick by halfway through, coughing and dropping out of excursions because of sickness. My husband and I both became sick on Day 6 of the 8 days, as ...

Chose this cruise for the Christmas Markets from Passau to Budapest with a 3 day pre cruise extension in Prague. The extension in Prague was outstanding, a beautiful city especially during this time. Viking offers ‘included tours’ in each stop. Some were walking tours others were bus tours so check to see which you sign up for. We used Viking Air service and were booked on Lufthansa. ...

Our first river cruise; wife and I, and 2 grown girls wanted to see some of Europe and thought a river cruise was a good way to do it. Booked 1 of 2 suites for ourselves and I standard balcony room for kids. I booked with Viking because told "the best" and seemed to have good overall reviews. Expensive. Booked the airfare with Viking travel; excellent value and flexibility (started with a few ...

Don't mean to sound negative, but didn't have the fantastic experience so many others report. Airport pickup at Budapest went well, as did the pre-cruise experience, despite poor weather. Guide for Jewish Budapest one of the best on entire trip. However ... Had no lunch on embarkation day as it was supposed to be provided on board. We were a bit late arriving at the dock, so nothing available ...

I enjoyed last years Danube cruise so much I had no hesitation to re-enlist with Viking. However, since ours was a last minute choice I WOULD HAVE TRIED ANOTHER LINE IF ONE Had been available. I received no discount for signing on to a previously cancelled stateroom. We were on the bottom level, whereas last year we had a French balcony. We feel the French balcony was not worth the extra ...

I understand that river cruises have smaller ships and therefore smaller cabins. This was my first river cruise and I can only compare it to Regent Seven Seas, Paul Gauguin, and Carnival. This is not an inexpensive trip and the price per day excluding airfare costs more than RSS and PG but not Carnival. Viking does not come close to RSS in terms of food quality and the quality of the included free ...
