Durnstein. Delightful Village that was an alternative port of call. Spent a lovely afternoon and even attended a craft fair where my daughter got some hand dyed yarn! Also had a delicious pint and some wild mushroom soup!

Beautiful Christmas experience
"Absolutely loved Prague, will definitely try to go again and spend more time. When you book your excursions, they say you will go to the Christmas Markets but usually we had very limited time, less than an hour...."Read More

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on Viking Ingvi

Had never visited the interior of Europe. Viking provides an excellent way to see the wonderful landscape and scenic splendor. The Danube river winds through much of Europes rich history. The bridges that cross it, starting in Budapest, are magnificent. It is hard to imagine that these cities were treasured prizes of so many conquerers. The cruise ended in Passau which is a charming town that ...

Beautiful Christmas experience

We chose this cruise mainly for the Christmas atmosphere, the interesting and unfamiliar locations, and the Christmas Markets. The weather was a bigger influence than we planned on. We weren't expecting so much ice and snow and such cold temperatures. The tours were mostly good and the scenery was amazing. I wish we could have had more time in the markets. When you book your excursions, they ...

We have been wanting to do this cruise for sseveral years and finally did it. We were able to catch the begining of the Christmas Markets in Vienna and Budapest and they were wonderful. We are happy we did not go on the specific Christmas Market cruise since we found the same vendors and items for sale at the several we visited. The tours were very nice and just the right length of time. We ...

I'd been intrigued by Viking river cruises for years but thought they were a bit pricey. The deals this year have been amazing, though, so I booked two river cruises. The Rhine Getaway was nice, but it was too hot (late June) and that made it harder to enjoy the port cities/towns. The Danube Waltz in October was more fun for me. If you are cruising to see lots of castles from a distance or want to ...

Negotiating foreign airports, customs, etc can be daunting. Viking, if you choose, takes you from your 'home' airport to your destination. Meets you after you are through customs. Makes sure your luggage is with you. Loads you on to a very comfortable bus and whisks you away to begin your long awaited trip. From the airport, you are taken either to a hotel (to recover) from your long trip or ...

We chose the cruise on the advice of our travel agent and it was a great offer at the time but our cruise was cancelled due to COVID and the offer didn't remain the same it was more expensive even after the 25% discount the gave us. That couldn't be helped though. The deal was a casualty of COVID. The cruise was very nice. We loved all the things that were included like the excursion at every ...

We chose this cruise from Basel to Amsterdam because of the diversity of the the ports and we were not disappointed. From the Swiss Alps to the below sea level Holland, every view and port were extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, every staff member made us feel appreciated and special. Every local tour guide was knowledgeable, personable and entertaining! We loved hearing their ...

We want to do several European trips and started with this one on the Rhine. Going back to go on the Danube cruise with Viking later this year. The included tours were really good, interesting tour guides, a lot of background and history provided at the places we went. The Viking staff was (by and large) outstanding, my wife even tipped one of the waiters 10 Euros as he remembered our ...

We arrived in Budapest 2 days early. Fanni and Andrea were wonderful. Great concierge service. Gave us great ideas and directions. Agnes took us on the Taste of Budapest tour. She was a wonderful guide. Carmen in Melk was also a terrific guide, wonderful sense of humor. On our post extension tour to Salzburg and Munich, Fred was so knowledgeable and was an outstanding guide. It was also ...
