A wonderful way to experience the European traditions
"If you LOVE Christmas and you LOVE Europe and you LOVE cruises, this is THE cruise to take!I was stationed in Germany near the end of the Cold War and had experienced Christmas Markets in the past, but none that were as big or as festive as the ones included on this cruise...."Read More

A wonderful way to experience the European traditions

We have taken this same route before, only during the summer. This was the first time we have done it during the Winter/Christmas season. To say this is the best cruise we have been on would be a tragic understatement! This cruise was absolutely wonderful! As always, Viking goes above and beyond. All our guides were native to the location we were visiting (the one in Strausburg actually lived ...

First, but not our last, cruise with Viking

Review for Viking Einar to Europe - River Cruise

The first reason that we were attracted to this cruise was the inclusion of admission to the Passion Play in Oberammergau, which had been delayed two years by the pandemic. As it only takes place every 10 years we decided that, at our ages, to wait could be risky. The second reason was that, despite being avid ocean cruisers, we had never taken a river cruise, nor had we been in that part of ...

Disappointed Traveler

First let me say, there are some things Viking does well and other things, as we've learned on this cruise, can be disappointing. This was a last minute deal that was too good to pass up although in hindsight, maybe we should have waited. Cruising during the summer in Europe is something we normally avoid and given all the airline problems, this would have been.a good year to not make an ...

The Rhine is wonderful, as is the on-board experience

Review for Viking Einar to Europe - All

I was pleasantly surprised that the Rhine was less industrial than I was expecting (having been on the Rhone and the Danube, both of which were scarred by some heavily industrial portions). I also liked the option of a leisurely excursion group. I didn't feel like we saw less but that we saw things more in depth. Instead of moving at top speed from site to site, we seemed to linger more, learn ...

We have looked forward to seeing all the Netherlands' tulips in full bloom for many years and it didn't disappoint! The Keukenhof Tulip Gardens were breathtaking. We went on all the included tours and many of the optional ones including "Cheese and Windmills"; all were well planned with knowledgeable guides. Don't miss the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam. The Captain, Cruise ...

A Perfect Vacation

We were so fortunate to vacation on the Viking Einar. From the moment we were picked up at the airport in Basel to our departure in Amsterdam we were treated as royalty. Every member of the staff was excellent. It was the norm for staff members to greet us with a smile and a hello. The cruise director was excellent. She was always prepared and saw to it that all the passengers were having a ...

From my first call regarding this cruise with Masha Givelber ( who was fantastic through the whole process ) this cruise was everything I had hoped for and more. It was my very first cruise and I can’t see taking any other cruise line. The website video showing the ships public areas was spot on. The staff were beyond AMAZING and you want for nothing. Check in was extremely easy ( of course I was ...

We have never cruised before because of getting seasick. When our travel agent told us about Viking we said sure. We found everything about Viking to be superb. From the moment we arrived at the Einar in Basel till the time we departed in Amsterdam we had nothing less than an exceptional time. It started with the curbside drop-off of our luggage and ended with our luggage being taken to the ...

Truly memorable

This was the first cruise for us . Right from the start the Viking crew were there to attend to us. They handled our luggage from curbside and made sure it was delivered to our cabin. We found our cabin immaculate and well appointed. The meals for the next eight days were of excellent quality. There was not one we didn’t enjoy. The staff never kept us waiting for any of our needs. They were always ...

We had heard from friends who went on this particular cruise. We searched other cruise lines but felt for a first cruise this was perfect for us. Viking handled everything from the time we got off the plane until we were dropped at the airport. We were treated like valued guests. Everything from cool cloths at the end of an excursion to the bartender knowing us by drink! We especially enjoyed our ...
