We booked this far in advance in order to see both the sights and the Christmas Markets. Viking did a great job keeping us informed about the low water levels and the workarounds (buses). But even after the “final” ship/bus itinerary was announced, we were fortunate to get enough last-minute rain (8 feel of water added to the river in 48 hours) that the original all-cruise itinerary could be maintained. Kudos to Viking for what had to be a lot of behind-the-scenes logistics! The three-day pre-cruise addition in Prague was well worth it, and the Art Noveau Palace hotel had a great location (easy walk to the Old City Square), excellent room amenities (more electrical outlets than a typical American hotel), and a fabulous breakfast buffet (including multiple gluten free and vegan offerings). This being our second Viking river cruise, we expected top notch friendly shipboard service from the crew and first-rate food. We were not disappointed in either of those two respects. The one-star rating for Fitness & Recreation is not Viking’s fault. It was just too cold to use the sun deck at all, which was empty throughout the trip. Read Less

We are very dissatisfied with the overall ‘cruise’ experience and the compensation offered by Viking to make up for the changes in our anticipated vacation - a 7 day CRUISE on the Romantic Danube River. Our group of three couples was aware of the low water situation a week prior to the scheduled sailing. We contacted Customer Relations and spoke to Megan Miulli on the Monday, August 13th requesting an opportunity to cancel our trip and plan our own itinerary since we were all committed to non-refundable airfare. Customer Relations refused to allow us a full refund prior to the trip and requested that we travel to Europe, embark the ship, and then file a complaint within 24 hours if we were still dissatisfied. We were officially notified by Viking Tuesday, August 14th at 6:16 p.m. that water levels were low and that the itinerary had been changed. We again reached out to Megan and left a voice message that we were interested a refund and scheduling our own trip. We did not hear back from her before it was time for us to travel. We flew to Europe and took the train to Nuremberg. Fortunately we took an early train or we would have missed the bus to the ship. We quickly realized how disorganized, stressful and disappointing the trip was going to be. The refreshments at the Le Méridien Grand Hotel Nürnberg were second-rate and were depleted when we arrived. We received mixed instructions from the Viking representatives on hand, an apparent foreshadowing of the days ahead of us. The bus left earlier than we were earlier told, we had no time to explore Nürnberg. After a 2 hour bus ride, with no comfort stop, we arrived in Passau and embarked the Egil on August 18, 2018. Upon arrival we discovered our cabin’s view was blocked by another ship. We did however have a great view of the other ship’s guests dirty socks drying on their deck chair. Eventually the ship moved and we had a view, sadly our friends who were on the other side of the ship now had a blocked view. The night of the 18th the on board crew relayed to us the itinerary changes for the next day. They said they were unable to tell us about the rest of the cruise days because conditions downstream were volatile and changing. We were told that the excursions the next day would be leaving at 8:00 a.m. by motor coach. Unlike most of our fellow passengers we are not retirees. We are employed individuals who came on vacation to relax and get away from the stresses of our busy work lives. We anticipated relaxing evenings on board, cocktails in hand, long restful nights of sleep, awakening leisurely in port before excursions in the adjacent port. Getting up at 6:30 a.m. was not any of our ideas of a good time. None of us wanted to get on a bus first thing in the morning. We therefore skipped the excursions on the 19th and filed an official complaint, as your brochures instruct passengers to do, within the first 24 hours of embarking. Hotel Manager Davis Thomas relayed our complaint to Customer Relations via email that day. On Sunday, August 19th, Mr. Thomas relayed to us that because the water levels were out of the control of Viking Cruises, no refund of our expenses would be given. We were very disappointed and frustrated with the lack of refund or financial compensation offered. Viking’s offer of 25 percent off a future cruise was completely a slap in the face. We wanted to get off of the boat, not think about planning a return cruise! We wanted to get off and derive our own itinerary. We are very capable of doing so and it would have allowed us to have the relaxing, stress-free vacation we anticipated. While we realize that the water levels are out of control of Viking, what was in Viking's control was the forthcoming communication of information and/or the opportunity to offer financial compensation that would have helped to make us feel less trapped and less taken advantage of. It was very difficult to have our itinerary communicated to us piecemeal by the crew and we feel strongly that this was done intentionally. When we arrived in Budapest we saw a Viking ship that we were told had been stuck there for a month! So, Viking was aware of the water conditions downstream and was not forthcoming with that information. Our trip was not relaxing. We spent many hours on motor coaches. We spent only 1½ days cruising. We were deprived of hours of relaxation on board that we had looked forward to for over a year. We came home stressed, frustrated and feeling that we had been taken advantage of by Viking Cruises. Our outreach to Viking has been just as stressful as the trip. They first offered 25% off a future cruise, then 50% off a future cruise, and then finally $500 with the condition that we sign a non-disclosure statement. Obviously, those offers have been declined in favor of informing as many people as we can so that others will make more informed decisions regarding who they cruise with. Where to begin?!?! It was disappointing from beginning to end. We actually "river cruised" 1 1/2 days versus the 7 days we were expecting. We were bussed around, lied to, stuck in an industrial "port" for three days, had our excursions cancelled (and only told "Viking is not offering these excursions at this time") A refund for the excursions that we paid for still has not been received after almost SIX months! I know there is a lawsuit from one of the travelers on our ship. We sent a letter to the head of customer relations, but guess what: we didn't get any response. They do NOT take care of their customers and blame everything on low water levels that they can't control.....which has been going on a LONG time. This is their business! They need to understand what customers expect and treat them fairly!! I can't recommend this company. Do your homework and read reviews carefully! Read Less

This was an anniversary gift to ourselves. Clearly a gorgeous part of the world and to see it from the river was very special. The cruise itinerary had been changed because of low river water and we wondered if the changes would make us regret our fortunes but alas, Viking's extended effort to make us happy worked and we had no complaints. I commend their staff and crew for their dedication and diligence. Our cruise director Oliver deserves special mention for his professionalism and unflappable demeanor the entire cruise. The cook and his team deserved applause too for never failing to delight us with fabulous food treats in the restaurant and aquavit terrace. Our cabin service was excellent. We always had clean bottled water delivered to our room to drink. They must have straightened our room several times a day because it was always magically neat and clean whenever we returned. I loved the ports we visited and the shore trips were well organized. It felt good to feel pampered for a week. Good job Viking. Read Less

Our friends, celebrating their 50th Anniversary, invited us to join them on this cruise. My husband gets seasick so we were a bit nervous, but decided to go. The river was calm and usually we didn’t realize the boat was even moving. The cabin was smaller than we expected, but everything was well thought out. The entire crew was excellent; personable, professional, and friendly. The included tours were excellent, though we thought all tours should be included in the price rather than offer extra charge tours daily that often had conflicting times with the included tours. WiFi was frustrating, but we expected that it might be a problem. The food was good and there were a variety of selections each meal. Our waiters were excellent. A suggestion is to serve small plates on the Bavarian night as the rush to the buffet of the entire dining room at the same time was awful that one night. Every evening before dinner our program director, Oliver would give a little talk explaining the next day’s activities etc. He was just great, handling everything with ease, answering all questions, and providing humor and entertainment. We would definitely do another river cruise if we saw one that went to cities we might want to visit. Read Less

We selected this cruise for the destinations and for the small river cruise experience. It was fantastic! We started our cruise in Budapest....sailed along the Danube to Vienna, Krems, Passau, Regensburg, ending in Nuremberg. There was so much history along the way to learn and to share with others following each excursion. The crew was so friendly and very accommodating. We upgraded to a veranda suite -- it was great! The ship was spotless and well maintained. We did explore Budapest for two days prior to embarking on our cruise. Friends have asked if we'd go on another river cruise -- without a doubt! We were treated royally from the start to the end of our trip. We had a little glitch regarding our return travel arrangements, but Viking resolved our issues accordingly. We are happy to say we met a wonderful couple on our river cruise that we are now planning to take a ocean cruise with them next summer.....can't wait! Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the Interesting ports to visit. We added the pre and post extensions to Budapest and Prague. Absolutely loved the section of Budapest where our hotel was located. The Hilton Budapest Hotel was excellent! Lovely room and complimentary breakfast. Best breakfast buffet I have ever seen! The Hilton Prague was not so great. Not a good part of town. The hotel itself needs lots of updating. However, the breakfast buffet was excellent. Hilton knows how to do food! The Budapest Viking Host was excellent. He was informative and professional. He gave us great tips. The Prague Viking Hosts were lackadaisical and didn’t seem knowledgeable. The included tours were very interesting. The guides did their jobs well. I wish we had chosen more extra excursions because they offered more in-depth information. Our Ship program director, Oliver, was excellent and entertaining. The ship’s food was very good. Our accommodations were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. We hope to go on another Viking trip. I love the small boat experience. Read Less

We had been considering a river cruise with a group of close friends for several years. Other friends had already taken a Viking river cruise and had nothing but praise for the experience. So on May 26 a group of 12 of us sailed on the Viking Egil for a Romantic Danube cruise. The staff onboard was terrific, particularly our Program Director Oliver Grozner, and our waitresses Julie and Jesse. The food was excellent and the service very attentive. Most of us purchased the Silver Spirits package and the selection of wines and cocktails was outstanding. The excursions were very interesting and educational and I felt that the guides were all very knowledgeable. The sole exception would be Szentendre (outside of Budapest) which we felt to be a tourist trap We extended our cruise on both ends with 3 extra days in Prague and 2 in Budapest, both beautiful old cities with many great sites to visit. Our hotel in Prague was the Art Nouveau Palace and was very nice. The hotel in Budapest was the Hilton Budapest City, not quite up to par. The ice machine on our floor was broken and there was no safe in our room. Returned home exhausted but extremely happy with our experience. Read Less

The ship was very clean, our room was well laid out. also very clean and comfortable. We have upscale cuisine for all three meals with exemplary service. The events planned for each port were well organized and planned for all activity levels. The local tour guides were knowledgeable and the walk and/or roadway excursions were very informative and entertaining. When the weather was a bit inclement, we were greeted and offered hot tea upon our return to the ship by the staff. Local entertainers added so much to the ambiance of our dining and evening experiences. I've not had such an intimate, comfortable and entertaining cruise like this one! We booked this trip over a year ago, chose the room we wanted and we chose perfectly. We had room 324, it was one of the larger rooms, a bedroom and sitting room, two TVs, a much larger shower, very comfortable. The Stewart was in twice a day, restocking the fridge, changing the fruit tray out, replenishing the diet cola and water, he left the wine and champagne just in case we changed our minds and decided to have some. The beds were comfortable and you could set the temperature for each room. The balcony was large enough for two to sit on, and a pair of binoculars were in the room. There is a coffee station on the third floor just outside the lounge, several different coffee selections are available plus hot water for tea and hot chocolate. There is always pastries or cookies provided in baskets in case you get the nibbles during the day. The loung is where you meet up with fellow passengers and the cruise director each night, he runs through the next day’s activities and this is where you find out about the included excursions and optional excursions. We ate all our meals in the dining room, the breakfast had many selections to choose from, from porridge to scrambled eggs, fresh made omlets, toast, pastries, fruit, or you could order off a menu, French toast etc. For lunch they had soup, sandwiches, salads, at the buffet area there was usually a pasta dish, fresh made, or again, you could order off a menu, usually from a selection of two items. Dinner was fantastic, each night there was a different selection, or again you could order off the menu, I did have the steak a few times from the menu, as it was very delicious, ALWAYS a great dinner and the wait staff were fantastic, if you wanted to taste something from the menu, but you had taken the buffet, they brought it to you right away, always, ALWAYS there with water, wine, coffee anything you wanted, you got, can’t say enough good things about them The included tours were very good, nice guides very informative then you would have the rest of the day to discover the cities on your own. May I suggest, if you have on board credits, and you plan on purchasing items from the ships gift store, used your credits early, as we found out, they don’t replenish the items, and I was disappointed twice on items that I wanted to get. When it came time to leave, Viking took us to Prague for our cruise extension, they provided shuttles from our hotel to the centre of the city all day and until late in the evenings, every hour, and when it came time to leave for the airport, a guide came with us on the tour bus, checked us in at our airline, provided us with a box of food as we left the hotel so early and pointed us in the right direction to security, always, they were always there for our needs, what ever we thought we might need or desire, can’t say enough good things about the viking crew. When you returned from the included excursions there was always staff waiters no to greet you and offer either a small hot chocolate to warm you up, or a small treat to help tide you over, totally awesome Read Less

This was our second Viking Cruise. After the first we were hooked! Only on viking do you get the utmost superior service. The ships are pristine and inviting. Our cabin although small had every amenity we could have needed. The daily cultural food choices only enhance your cruise. We wouldn't dare miss our evening gathering with our Cruise Director to hear what tomorrow held in store for us! As for service, well it speaks for itself. Within 24 hours, our Headwaiter, our table waiter, the Cruise Director, and the bartender knew our names and our preferences. I have food allergies and they never missed a beat. Our cabin maids within one day knew our morning and daily schedules and we were never bothered by uninvited knocks on the door but miraculously our cabin was neat and tidied whenever we returned from scheduled or unscheduled excursions. Even on off-boat excursions, our Head Waiter would meet me at the door to tell me what not to eat at our available meal stops. Wow. They are over the top. This is big business to them and their waitstaff. They are professionals and it shows in every little detail they do not miss. Read Less

From the moment Viking met us at the Prague airport till the moment we were personally escorted to the security line at the Budapest airport, we were immersed in Viking's special treatment of their guests. Small ship (less than 195 travelers) made it idyllic to get to know your companions and yet not feel crowded nor rushed. Staff was so friendly and went out of their way to accommodate your requests. Overall, Viking provided a top notch experience. Lovely ship, very friendly staff, good food and we met some great co-passengers. Viking had EVERYTHING well organized and there were no glitches. The staff were ALL very friendly and accommodating. We often took advantage of eating somewhat lighter fare in the Casual dining area in the front of the ship, which had outdoor seating. The food was very good in general. It was Very relaxing to sit and watch the riverside slide by. The Only thing I wasn’t crazy about was going through the many locks— a bit claustrophobic. My husband didn’t seem to mind. Having done several ocean cruises in the past, we enjoyed this change of pace and would love to do another Viking river cruise. A river cruise is very different experience—not much entertainment, no pool, no fitness center, no gambling etc. However, we did mind that a bit. Read Less

This was our first, but not last, river cruise. Have been on ocean cruises before and enjoyed them, but fell in love with the slow pace, small ship, and no crowds of the river cruise experience. Viking is terrific! The ship was delightful, crew was outstanding, good food and nice fellow passengers (mostly Americans and British). Viking has everything organized to a "T." Local guides, buses when required; everything on time and very well done. We had a suite, which was a super extra splurge. Probably wouldn't do that again because of expense, but it was nice having two rooms! Also, all the free wine, beer, bottled water, etc. you could want in the minibar and free laundry was part of the suite experience. We enjoyed the dining room but especially the more casual Aquavit. We had most breakfasts there as we didn't want more than yogurt, fruit etc. The dining room offers just about anything you could want for breakfast. All the food was very good! We did both pre-and post-cruise extensions and the Viking staff in the hotels are very helpful. If you want lots of on board activities, etc. this is not for you. But if you want a lovely relaxing time, we highly recommend it. Looking forward to another. Read Less

We have received advertisements for cruises for ages, but the time was never right. This was the year! We flew into Budapest on Friday night and were met by pleasant and efficient Viking representatives and transported to our ship quickly. Crew members greeted us by name when we arrived (were they waiting for us to make the quick night cruise in Budapest to reach another dock in honor of the country's holiday celebration taking place the next day?). We entered our Veranda suite and were thrilled with the beautiful accommodations. Everything was pristine and first class. Our housekeeper promptly introduced herself and asked us to let her know if we needed anything. She was bright, intuitive and thorough. Our suite was perfect every day. The cruise was conducted with professionalism throughout. Our program director was fun and enthusiastic. I enjoyed his port talks daily because he made the information fun to hear. He was also knowledgeable on the route and made his lectures entertaining. The chef was first-rate and we enjoyed every meal. The chocolate peanut butter crisp will live on as my favorite thing to eat ever! Every crew member was polite and busy but always willing to answer a question or solve any issue. There weren't many issues. Sailing on the Danube was smooth and the skill of parking a ship that size in a lock that was almost the identical size was impressive. I rarely felt any movement on the water. But we saw so any beautiful things as we sailed along. The other passengers were fun and friendly and we met many wonderful folks and will stay in touch with several. We took every included tour and a couple of optional tours. All were informative and allowed us time for shopping or having a cup of cappuccino or a beer. My personal favorite was Passau where we had lunch in a delightful outdoor cafe. The guides were well-versed and presented so many facts and information but made it all interesting and answered questions very well. We also greatly enjoyed a side trip up the Danube Narrows to the Weltenburg Abbey. What a magnificent church! Simply stunning. The organ concert in Passau was also outstanding. The German feast on Thursday night was great fun and absolutely delicious. We enjoyed the entertainment of a couple of talented crew members and there was always something going on in the evenings for those who could stay awake. Disembarkation was smooth and well thought out. We left for the airport on time and in plenty of time for our flight. I am looking forward to sailing another river with Viking. They did everything just right and we enjoyed every minute. Read Less

Best of all, EVERYTHING was included in the price of the trip...including internet (unlike some cruise lines, which charge $75 per minute...) and beer, wine & soda at lunch and dinner. Viking was a class act from the moment we stepped aboard until the moment the cruise ended. Viking went FAR BEYOND our expectations in every way. There was an included excursion at every port...sometimes two, and every time we left the ship, Viking gave us a cold bottle of water so we wouldn't get dehydrated. (Other cruise lines have the audacity to charge several dollars for a bottle of water.) When we returned from our excursions, they frequently had treats for us... The staff was fantastic, service was amazing, the rooms were spotless, the food was fabulous, the wifi was free (unlike other cruise lines that charge $ ..75 a minute.) The excursions, which were also included in the price, were exciting, interesting, educational and fun. The tour guides are well-spoken, engaging, entertaining, and knowledgeable, Viking was a superb value and an amazing cruise! Read Less

From Prague to Budapest the Viking family went out of their way to make our trip the best ever. The crew treated us with kindness, respect and great humor. Yanna and Ales in Prague went out of their way to help us with some difficulties there. Our room was always outstanding thanks to Ria and Vinnie. Thanks to chef Rene' the food was always great especially the fourth of July cake! Boril, Florin, Mr. Wong, and Natasha made our dining experience the best. Oliver and Sandar (also known as Shannon and Shorty) have a great sense of humor and worked hard to make our tours and entertainment entertaining and fun. The rest of the crew whose names evade us, except Ricardo, worked hard helping us make the transitions to tours and hotels easy. For those going on a trip like this a word of caution. Be careful to not wind up like me with a broken ankle six hours after arriving in Prague so you don't have to work the Viking folks so hard! This was our second river cruise with Viking. There is no better way to cruise. We wished we had taken the pre-cruise, didn't feel we had enough time to explore Budapest. We won't make that mistake again. The entire staff cares about you and your every need. I had to have lactose free meals, everyday the head waiter came to my table at breakfast with the days menu. He had crossed out items I could not have. I sincerely appreciated his every effort. I did not get sick once. We celebrated our 25th anniversary on board. Dinner was excellent every night, but this night we were sung to, with a delicious passion fruit cheesecake. Made it memorable. The entertainment was great, especially the arranged "Octoberfest". We went to an excursion to an Octoberfest location, which was not "Viking Quality." We expressed our disappointment to "Oliver", and that night we had an Octoberfest that was great, food, drinks, and great entertainment . That brings me to Oliver, our Program Director. This man did everything possible to make it a fantastic cruise. He listened when we spoke and took action. He never missed a beat. I have never met someone with so much energy. The excursions were well thought out and mostly done by locals who knew their stuff. We are planning to go again in Dec. of 1918 and bring two of our friends. Read Less

We chose the Danube Cruise mostly because we wanted to see the sights of Europe. We chose wisely, the ship Egil was just the right size. Embarkation was smooth from the airport to our port in Passau. There was always someone there to make us feel we were in the right place. Boarding the ship was easy, inviting, clean and exciting. Our cabin was beautiful & all the comforts of home with a beautiful view off our room. Dining was easy, we sat where we liked and met new friends that we ended up chumming around with! Our waiter was pleasant, funny and took care of our wants & needs. The food was delicious, got to try new things! Always such a variety, and to have a glass or two of wine with lunch & dinner was a plus! Entertainment was just alright, nothing elaborate. Cabin Service was okay, we were missed the first day and had to ask if there was daily service....(our gal was stationed on the bottom floor and we were on the top floor, so we didn't see much of her) We REALLY enjoyed having an Included Port Excursion in EVERY Port. Beautiful countryside to walk around in and we took great advantage of our time off the ship. All in All it was a Wonderful Cruise!! Read Less

We wanted to do a river crise as we had heard so much about them . We have done a lot of ocean cruises but never a river one. Flew from Heathrow with BA one and a half hours had to collect luggage and take to bus. The transfer seemed a bit long winded, as we seemed to get to the Danube from the wrong end. We had to drive in very heavy traffic a long way past the ship and back so we were on the correct side of the road to get off.Check in very quick with not airport security as with ocean cruises. cabin as expected same as other ships, we chose the cheapest at the waterline. We only sleep and get changed there. We went with another cou[ple explored the ship. tea and coffee making machines on entrance tot he laounge always working except once when it was being worked on. The ship apart from our deck with only cabins next one up was reception and the main dining room. One deck above was the main lounge with a bar and lots of seating. The back park had a small self service at meal times and on nice days you can sit outside to eat. Above this was the top deck fine views and plenty of seating two mini golf courses and a deck quits. We only used it a couple of days due to the weather. Trips some trips included some you paid for. As far as we could see they all involved walking a bit. Viking coaches at each port to take you to the destinations. First night deal with food later after dinner we went for a walk over the chain bridge fantastic Budapest is a lovely city at night, large buildings a palaces all lit up. Next ay trip round Budapest time on our own when we got back on the ship we were greeted with a soft drink and canapes. Almost all trips get you back for lunch. Sometimes lunch is to make sure you get some. Estergom strudel making very good had as much to eat as we liked. Vienna nice walk around town and time to ourselves to browes the shops that evening we went to a musical recital the best i have ever been to fantastic would recomend. Vienna naxt day We went on our own to Schonbrunn Palace underground there, our director showed us how it worked went round the palace with translators tube back to the town. tube abck to ship cost 42 Euiros for the two of us. The ship wanted 59 each result. Krems went to monastry not bad back for lunch Afternoon cruised the Wachau valley it poured with rain and visibility was poor. Passau trip round not bacd Regensburg Easy walking tour walked back to ship for lunch Nuremberg. Went on the WW2 trip to nazi rally point and courtroom. Very good trip thoroughly enjoyed it Overnight and left for the airport at 7.45 the next morning a bit early. STAFF The best and most helpful of any staff I have come across on any ship or hotel. Absolutely faultless always spoke and could not do enough for you. FOOD very good breakfast in full in dining room or at the front of the ship for continental. Lunch three courses or buffet at the front of the ship. Dinner Three courses or buffet at the front. Not a large choice three items every night and three different ones for main. All the food was very good and plenty of it DRINKS free during lunch or dinner weather you had the meals or not no limit to the amount you can have during the set times, the rest you pay for. CABIN got what we paid for our steward mucked us out in the mornings and turned the beds down at night. SHIP almost new could not find a fault with it. ENTERTAINMENT in main lounge pianist every night music we all knew. There is a small dance floor buit most of the time he did not play music you could dance to. Pity. We had a humorous german lesson, german/Austrian music, and a presentation about Viking cruises. The choice of music was nice to listen to but a few of us wanted to dance. Was it good value? Yes Did we enjoy it? Yes Would we go again? Yes Read Less

To start, we've cruised Viking before and discovered it to be a far superior and personal cruise line than many of their competitors. Cruising up the Danube from Budapest is probably one of the most scenic river cruises in the world. It was not only relaxing, but Viking docks almost every morning for an included tour of the local area sharing with us the local culture, and in many cases encouraging us to interact with the locals. It's always positive and fun. We also enjoy Viking's attitude towards it's passengers. They are always there to help and explain anything to us. The crews attitude is "you are on vacation, and we are here to make sure you enjoy yourself". I asked on our first Viking cruise, "do I have to dress up for dinner?'. Numerous responses to me were, "your on vacation, so dress casual and enjoy yourself" (I might add, they killed all future desire to ocean cruise ever again). Our cruise director is always there to explain what is happening when you pass through interesting areas and river locks, etc. We never felt so pampered, it was almost as if they couldn't do enough to please us (not that we expected this approach). The Viking Egil captain, as very busy man, was personable and always happy to explain ship operations, etc. This trip was taking by only my wife and me. Our children are all grown and we encourage them to try Viking too. Read Less

We have done a previous Viking cruise and really enjoyed it. We did the cruise from Paris to Normandy & back. We loved Budapest, one of the most beautiful cities we have ever experienced. We were so glad we added 2 extra days to explore it more. Highly recommend a visit to this city. We were disappointed in Vienna, a blah city to us. Maybe we were not exposed to the better parts of the city All of the amenities that Viking offers are excellent, from the rooms, wonderful food/meals with multiple choices, the daily land excursions included. We signed up for 3 additional excursions (additional cost) and enjoyed all of them. The local guides were very knowledgeable and provided insightful information to the area. We will do another Viking cruise to a new area of travel for us. Read Less
