Ship rooms comfortable and elegent. Ships food- top notch. Crew Service-exempliary. Above and beyond, near fanatical in ensuring you want for nothing that they can provide. All you need do on a Viking Cruise is sleep, get up and slog off to a tremendous breakfast selection. Then go back to your stateroom and get ready for the tours they will take you on, fully arranged of course. They fgeed you some wonderful lunch somewhere or catch you own. After touring and walking about in new places, return to the ship for a 5 star meal. The bar is always open and great beers flow. Sit in laxurious lounge to view the fabulous scenery from a riverboat. Enjoy the evening river sights and smeels with new friends, good beer and great cigars. It just doesnt get any better. Viking strives to handle any and all logistics related to travel and to make your experience enriching. They sure did. Read Less

We booked this far in advance in order to see both the sights and the Christmas Markets. Viking did a great job keeping us informed about the low water levels and the workarounds (buses). But even after the “final” ship/bus itinerary was announced, we were fortunate to get enough last-minute rain (8 feel of water added to the river in 48 hours) that the original all-cruise itinerary could be maintained. Kudos to Viking for what had to be a lot of behind-the-scenes logistics! The three-day pre-cruise addition in Prague was well worth it, and the Art Noveau Palace hotel had a great location (easy walk to the Old City Square), excellent room amenities (more electrical outlets than a typical American hotel), and a fabulous breakfast buffet (including multiple gluten free and vegan offerings). This being our second Viking river cruise, we expected top notch friendly shipboard service from the crew and first-rate food. We were not disappointed in either of those two respects. The one-star rating for Fitness & Recreation is not Viking’s fault. It was just too cold to use the sun deck at all, which was empty throughout the trip. Read Less

We have been thorough Europe, but never had the opportunity to experience an ambling cruise from Prague to Budapest. Looking and the brochures, this cruise looked like a wonderful opportunity to travel uninterrupted with a 5 star line. WE WEREN'T DISAPPOINTMENT! From the moment Viking met us at the Prague airport till the moment we were personally escorted to the security line at the Budapest airport, we were immersed in Viking's special treatment of their guests. Small ship (less than 195 travelers) made it idyllic to get to know your companions and yet not feel crowded nor rushed. Staff was so friendly and went out of their way to accommodate your requests. Food was spectacular, and so were the wines served from the regions we were cruising in. The Egil was fairly new, and the cabins were comfortable and spacious. If you like small ships with excellent service and a thoughtful itinerary, this is the way to go! Read Less

This river cruise was wonderful! Well organized in every respect. Food excellent. Cabin a little small (French Balcony) The french balcony was great and a savings from Veranda. Going thru locks was fascinating. Unfortunately due to flooding, the top deck was closed for the majority of the trip. Also, could not make it to last 3 destinations for same reason. We took busses. Cruise line was great. Ship very clean, well kept. It was less than a year old. All excursions were fabulous. Very different that ocean Caribbean cruises. No beach, no pool, no casino, essentially no shopping. Ship much smaller that typical ocean cruise. A lot makes it difficult to compare to an ocean cruise. 2 different animals, like comparing apples to oranges. They are both fruits, but that's it. Lots of exercise doing all the walking with the excursions. There is no fitness center on board, but there is plenty of walking. I walked 40 miles during this trip. Would I go again? In a heartbeat.
