I choose the cruise because I was interested in this area and it was such a bargain. We were lucky with perfect weather and were able to see each scheduled excursion point. Beaujolais country was particularly lovely. The old towns were such a delight to see and I understand why folks want to own a home there. Atmosphere, rolling hills, vineyards - all delightful. The gorge at Ardeche and train ...
We have been in ocean cruise many times, on different ships and companies. This was our first river cruise, and our first one with Viking. Everything went extremely well. The service, location, attention, all top notch.
The experience of a smaller ship, to get to know people, even get to know some of the crew, which were fun people to be with.
Loved the attention to detail. The excursions ...
I was very interested in the ports of call on this cruise. Many people still were not traveling so there were no crowds and all shore excursions were a delight. I especially enjoyed Lyon. Our local guide was excellent, even introducing us to the best candy shop and treating us to a sample. The walk of the Old City of Lyon was the highlight of my experience. The small passageways throughout the ...
We were invited by another family member to accompany them. We travel a lot but had never been on a river cruise or any kind of cruise before. It was wonderful! The Viking staff was extremely organized and all travel to and from airports and then each destination was executed perfectly and in an extremely timely manner! All the buses for transport were luxury. I have some food allergies and ...
Staff was great. Services are excellent. Foods are excellent. Entertainment and ports excursions are adequate. We love the pre-extension in Nice with excellent excursions. The Viking staff there also were very helpful. Our flight came late and Viking host was there to greet us and helped to process the hotel room and the following day excursions. The whole trip would be great if our cabin were not ...
We wanted to take a cruise and looked first at cruises within the United States but it was actually less expensive to go to Europe with Viking and the airfare was outstanding with Viking taking care of all the details. It was a "no brainer" to us.
Viking met us at the airport and provided bus transportation to the ship. They took care of our luggage and delivered it to our room. Disembarkation ...
Having resisted river cruising for many years, we finally capitulated (ran out of excuses for not taking one) and booked a Provence cruise on the Viking Delling. The booking and upfront experience was good. The website was easy to navigate and the cruise materials arrived in plenty of time with luggage tags, cruise book and other information. Good first impression.
Our package included free ...
This was a special trip for our 50th wedding anniversary as we had never been on a cruise before. Ship was lovely crew were very friendly. Food was not so good the buffet was the best. We personally felt out numbered as 98percent Americans , we asked before we booked if they had small tables but this was not the case and not in our comfort zone. River was not the prettiest lots of industrial sites ...
Prior trips to France were in the north and west. This was a nice opportunity to view the arts, ruins and food of a culturally rich region.
The staff was flawless and provided us with opportunities to relax as well as sight-see.
Dining was excellent, and excursion guides, especially in Paris, were well educated and entertaining. Our Notre Dame/Left Bank guide was especially amazing. Few ...
We had heard that Viking did a great job on their river cruises. We had tried AMA on the Danube and Uniworld on the Rhine prior to this trip. Viking on the Rhône was just as nice or in some cases even better. Check in was smooth and the director actually checked us into our room with a smile and a handshake and explained all of the amenities onboard. The cruise director was truly excellent and he ...
