We had always wanted to go to France and try a river cruise. This was our first for both. Viking took care of all the flights and transfers to the ship. The ship was elegant, service was impeccable and the tour guides were exceptional in their knowledge of each small town. The variety of shore excursions, from little walking in a half day to all day strenuous walking made for many choices to ...
A wonderful way to learn and experience France from Avignon to Lyon. Every detail of the trip was expertly managed by Viking staff from arrival at the airport in Marseille to walking us through security at Lyon and everything in between. The staff was marvelous and made us feel welcome throughout the cruise. Everyone we interacted with from housekeeping to wait staff to ship’s officers were ...
It was me and my husband’s first trip with Viking. We liked everything from the pre excursion in Paris throughout the entire cruise. The tour in Paris was very enjoyable. The tour guide and bus drivers did excellent job. The excursions were fun, interesting and educational. On the cruise, the food was very good and has lots of varieties. The waiting staff were amazing, they were so attentive and ...
This was our third Viking river cruise, and picking Viking is now a no-brainer: We know it's going to be terrific. From the minute we were met at the airport in Marseille by a Viking rep to the moment we entered the airport in Lyon, we were in great hands the whole time. All the land tours were wonderful (even the one the day it rained) and we can't say enough good things about the ship and crew. ...
The cruise package was delightful! The cruise has a bit of a slow beginning as we were in the beginning port of Avignon for the first two nights. Excursions took us to the town of Arles and then we joined the ship that had sailed to a new port. We loved that we had a nice selection of tours and chose to take a Van Gogh painting class. As we sailed along the Rhône river, we began to enjoy the ...
Loved the Avignon to Lyon itinerary. South of France is spectacular. The cruise itself was good also, they were short staffed but everyone worked very hard to compensate for it. The food was a bit inconsistent, but overall still good. We loved our french balcony room and the set up of the ship including the self serve coffee bar with snacks available all day. The excursions are organized so ...
There was nothing to complain about. The food was varied and exceptional, reflecting the region. For the unadventurous there was standard American food also. The regular guided tours were fascinating, and so were the extra tours which went into more depth. The service was exceptional; I will probably never be treated quite that way again unless I take another Viking River Cruise. The staff ...
Had never been to France and we were able to add 3 day visits to Paris and Nice on either end of the cruise. Viking still took care of us on these extensions and had set up great tours and experiences like lunch in Canne.
The boat and its crew were exceptional and our every need was taken care of. We had great local tour guides in every port and the experiences into the cities and immersion ...
This is probably our fifth or sixth cruise with Viking. Needless to say, we really do like their ships, their staff, pricing and their professionalism. It would take a lot to get us to switch to another river cruise line.
We thoroughly enjoyed our cruise in Provence earlier this year. Lots of very interesting sights and information to learn about the history of this part of France. The only ...
The Viking Buri was as exceptional as other river cruises we have taken with Viking. I was amazed at the number and quality of Roman ruins along the river--so much amazing history that we rarely hear about. When one inland trip wasn't available the tour organized an evening walk through one of the most complete medieval towns, almost all in darkness--it was spectacular. Really enjoyed the ...
