"Other ships (including another Viking longship just like ours) apparently had no trouble managing the low bridge, but our captain decided instead to dock a mile or so away from Passau, so we had to take a shuttle bus. There was some music trivia and a strudel-making demonstration, but very little in the way of entertainment or educational lectures (there was one lecture, but the topic was so uninteresting that I don't even recall what it was)...."Read More

1-10 of 27 Viking Atla Cruise Reviews for River to Europe
I wanted to see Vienna & Budapest, so I got that accomplished. Frankly, though, I think that I would've preferred to simply rent a car and drive to these places for a whole lot less money. The ship was basically a floating hotel - there isn't much in the way of amenities on the ship other than a restaurant & lounge (which wasn't really much different than the restaurant). The piano player got ...
I Loved the itinerary and all the ports we visited. The guides were very informative, although the excursions were very strenuous. Excursions were definitely not for the weary traveler. They were interesting and worthwhile. The service was impeccable, from the front desk who went totally out of their way to please all the guests. Very capable & friendly. The cabin person was adorable and ...
We were invited to accompany some friends on this cruise and the ports sounded interesting. There were 8 of us in total. This was the first river cruise for all of us. We had all gone on many ocean cruises covering just about all cruise lines. Our first three days were rainy and windy and we were not able to enjoy the ambience of the upper deck. Beyond that Viking and the crew did their best ...
My wife and I have done numerous ocean cruises, including two with Viking, but this was our first river cruise. Viking did not disappoint.
We chose Viking, because of its ability to provide an encompassing service with airfare, transfers, extensions and tours in a casino and kid free environment.
Airfare and transfers were seamlessly handled. We used Viking’s Air Plus service to make early ...
The overall cruise was excellent. Everything was first class from the cabins, meals and service It was also very nice in that meals and activities on board were not formal. We tried to sit at the same section for dinner every night as our waiter was outstanding. We got personnel attention from him. The only drawback to the trip was the pre and extended cruise excursions which were not as well ...
Due to Covid, we were delayed 2 years for our Danube River Cruise. Viking had wonderful service on-board and on most of the excursions. Several "Panoramic" tours were drive-by sightseeing [disappointing]. The tours were good for those which were walking tours. Many thing to see and do. Cruise changed from Budapest to Regensburg from the Budapest to Nuremburg we purchased in 2020. We met many ...
Coordinating with another couple, this was the best timing and length of cruise. Very impressed with flight assistance from Viking and the overall level of communication and assistance before the trip. Transportation from airport felt somewhat disorganized, but did smooth out. Lovely atmosphere on ship, very comfortable veranda cabin, excellent dining and service. Unfortunately, I was injured ...
Just finished Viking Romantic Danube cruise. First time this Viking ship sailed, without interruption, from Nuremberg to Budapest. Only, maybe, the second week that any Viking ship made the cruise end-to-end without a ship swap. The low water levels on both the Rhine and Danube will likely continue into 2019 season (begins in March).
The cruise, when uninterrupted like ours, was great. ...
Wanted to try a river cruise based on TV advertisements. This was my first river cruise and probably my last river cruise because of the cabin space. I enjoyed all the excursions which were very educational despite even though it was a holiday so some places were not available to tour, the meals was great, and staff was friendly and went above and beyond to make it an enjoyable experience and I ...
We lived in Germany several years ago and had traveled to many places, but we had not traveled to Eastern European locations. Budapest was wonderful, so pretty, all lit up at night. We stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel until we boarded our Ship on Sunday. Viking had an overall tour of the city and we also had free time to explore.
Right here I have to say that Viking does a great job ...
