Better weather, fewer crowds than summer

Review for a Mediterranean Cruise on Star Pride

Europe is incredibly hot and crowded in the summer, although still crowded for this trip. Did notice a drop in service level compared to prior Windstar cruises. Looks like they are pinching pennies in certain areas. Definitely less focus on customer service from corporate side. Nice to travel with smaller groups, but don't fall for "travel in private yacht style". Excursions are very pricey ...

Our cruise was called Venetian Passageways. Overall iit was excellent. All the ports of call with the exception of Albania were very interesting. Everyone loved swimming in the sea and water sports from the Marina deck while the ship was anchored off Dubrovnik. The open deck barbecue night followed by line dancing was sensational. Other highlights included Windstsr's complimentary private ...

Generally lived up to Windstar's high standards

Despite rather spotty reviews regarding Star Pride and the fact that it had a grounding episode last fall, we decided to give it a try. That was based on several factors. First, it fit with the rest of our travel plans and was the right length cruise. Second, we had sailed twice with Windstar on two of their sailing vessels many years ago and had really loved it. Third, the ship had just gone ...

One of Our Best Cruises Yet

On one of Star Pride's first cruises coming off of a very long dry-dock to the tune of $4+ million, I must say we found the ship looking great, and it was hard to believe she was first launched in 1988. Lots redone to the public areas - besides the new flooring, the designs of the two restaurants were tweaked and improved. Library updated, screening room replaces the old card room, main lounge ...

Ship Was Horrible, Crew Was Outstanding

Review for a Greece Cruise on Star Pride

We sailed from Venice thru two ports in Croatia (Hvar and Dbrovnik); Kotor, Montnegro; Butrint, Albania; Katakolon, Greece; Itea, Greece; Nafplion, Greece; then finished in Athens. As a side note, Katakolon, Greece is absolutely the worst destination I have ever experienced. The ship was in need of many, many repairs. The toilets on the Port side of the ship were inoperative everytime the ship ...

Star Pride - Windstar Veers Off Course

We chose to cruise on Star Pride because of the unique "Venetian Passageways" itinerary - particularly the stop at Itea Greece (for Delphi) and the transit of the Corinth Canal. The cruise was booked before the Seabourn Pride became the Star Pride, and I watched closely for reviews of the new ship. The posted reviews raised many concerns due to mixed reviews on the condition of the ship. As it ...

Twenty two years ago we took a Windstar Cruise in Tahiti and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We have taken about twenty cruises on small to medium-size ships. Our most recent cruise took us from Venice to small ports in Croatia, Montenegro, Albania and Greece, traversing the Corinth canal (thrilling) and ending in Athens We looked forward to returning to Windstar but found that our ...

My wife and I have been on several lines, all with medium to large ships. This was the first time on a smaller ship. First the highlights--except for one stop, this was a terrific schedule. ( the disappointing stop could have been excellent if the cruise line had been more open about what excursions MUST be taken. Second--the staff of the ship, from room porter to dining room folks to purser and ...
