Have done a Viking River Cruise & had great experience, so decided to do Viking Ocean Cruise. Wanted a worry-free trip where all was paid for in advance from pickup at airport to pre-excursion to ship to post-excursion to airport. Embarkation and disembarkation went smoothly with no issues. Ship was top notch with well appointed cabin. Was a great Mediterranean experience with gorgeous views. Cabin service was great. Food and drink was top quality including days we used room service for breakfast and options for friends with dietary was taken care of with no issues. The Spa both free and with fees were top notch. Overall shore excursions good. Some ports were better than others for excursions offered. recommend the Pre-extension: Tuscany,Ultimate Italy. Favorite ports: Venice, Dubrovnik, Corfu, Santorini. Would take another Viking Ocean cruise for the Western Mediterranean area from Barcelona to Florence/Pisa, Rome, Naples & around the Amalfi Coast with possible pre &/or post excursions.Would also look at another Viking River Cruise as well possibly France, or Portugal. Had done Viking River Cruise in past and service and venue was excellent so decided to do a Viking Ocean Cruise. Embarkation to Disembarkation went smoothly and same quality as the river cruise with Viking. They set up pre-extension and post-extension and was excellent with excellent service, accommodations were very good. The pre-extension guide was superb. During the cruise itself, food was excellent, staff listened to concerns and addressed. Shore excursions and weather were excellent. Liked the included shore excursions as well as option to choose another excursion for additional fee if desired. Liked the educational information and UNESCO sites provided by Viking. It was nice to have wine/beer/ sodas included for lunch and dinner so no need to purchase a drink package. If desired additional beverages outside of mealtimes the prices were reasonable to purchase. The cleanliness of the ship and the service was good. The Spa area was a nice feature which was an included amenity unless you desired to purchase facials or massages. Fitness area was very nice. Our cabin was well appointed and looked new. Enjoyed the outside balcony area. The bathroom was perfect even though smaller than the bathroom on the river cruise. No children for the cruise and preferred this and was another reason chose Viking. Loved the sites and would use Viking again and recommend Viking to other travelers. The high quality of Viking is showed through on their ocean cruise as well. Read Less

The ship was very comfortable, perfect size. Service was wonderful, excursions were very informative. We did our air through Viking which was helpful all except making a change of planes in Frankfurt. We were very rushed and just made it to our connection when they were boarding. I would avoid that airport in the future. Embarkation and Disembarkation went very smoothly. Transfers to and from airport were perfect. The food in all dining options was excellent. All staff members that we had contact with were very friendly and helpful with anything that you needed. My husband had a sore knee from all the walking and our room steward made sure we had ice in our room every day for him to ice his knee. WiFi was spotty at times but I guess that can be expected. All in all it was a wonderful trip and we look forward to another Viking adventure in the future. Read Less

To celebrate our 30th anniversary, we chose the Viking Empires of the Mediterranean cruise and it was indeed fantastic. The Viking ship is beautiful and never feels crowded! The service is impeccable, the stewards are incredibly accommodating and personable, and the entire staff is to notch. The lounge areas are great, especially the Explorers lounge at the front of ship where we watched many a sun set while sipping cocktails. The restaurants are all fantastic and we also enjoyed room service breakfast every morning as we came into port at sunrise. The spa area is relaxing and fun with a unique snow room and cold bucket to experience Nordic traditions. The Winter Garden room for afternoon tea was a relaxing nice touch after a day of excursions. The ports and excursions were just unbelievable on this cruise highlighted by a gondola ride in Venice, the Acropolis in Athens, the sheer beauty of Santorini and the incredible walled fortress of Dubrovnik. We also did pre and post extensions with Viking which were very well run with interesting excursions, highlighted by a trip to Delphi and Olympus. Highly recommend Viking and this cruise. Read Less

Second time with Viking, first time on one of their ocean cruises. We were part of a group of 22 that go on a "big trip" every two years. After a successful 15-day Viking river cruise, we decided to do a Viking ocean cruise in an area that most of us had never been. We started in Venice, had four stops down the Ionian Coast ending with various stops in Greece. Dining was really nice. The World Café had great selection of standard and rotating items for all meals. We ate our breakfasts and lunches there. Drink service could be a little long when it was crowded, but you may also easily get your own. The dining room was always very nice with old stand-bys, the chefs suggestion, plus five other entrees and a vegetarian three course selection always available. I think there were a total of eight deserts each night. You may order ala-carte from any section of the menu and ask for changes. Gluten free was the only items we were a little disappointed in. It was hit or miss with some meals being as nice as everyone else and some meals being very bland and unimaginative. Viking does provide a particular officer who meets every day with special diet passengers to try and make their dining experience seamless. Embarkation was pleasant and as quick as possible. No delays and from entering the embarkation room to being on the ship was less than thirty minutes. Enrichments activities were nice, but we did not get to many of them as we were exploring the various ports. Entertainment was good, with a nice four-person song and dance team and a four-person band. The spa and gym areas were exceptional, especially for a ship this size. If you work out, you will be able find everything to do your cardio or your strength and fitness. The spa is really nice and the pools and snow room have to be experienced at least once. Overall onboard experience was great! Everyone (crew AND passengers) were so nice and easy going. Special requests were taken care of with a smile and surprisingly quick. I watched the guest services people perform minor miracles for their guests all day …. and with a big smile! The public rooms are phenomenal. They are comfortable, relaxed, easy for groups to meet or to find a quiet nook for reading. You have to check out the upstairs of the Explorer Lounge! I have mentioned service though-out this write up and you will not be disappointed. Sure a buss person gets busy or a barista takes a few minutes for your expresso, but everyone from guest services to security is pleasant and strives to help as best they can. The included shore excursions are generally quite good. Many times will do one and get a general look at the port we are in and then head off on our own. We did have one excursion where the guide was not knowledgeable of their subject and kept making political remarks. Viking provides critiques forms for each excursion. Value for the money is subjective, everyone would like to save some money here and there, but we did feel the trip was worth what we paid. Read Less

Highly rated and many other satisfied customers. Found it all to be true. Ship was amazing, everything was thought out and crew was always attentive and prepared. Staterooms were clean, well appointed and plenty of room. Food on the ship was excellent - plenty of selection and variety, regional dishes served, service was outstanding. Manfredi's (Italian restaurant on ship) was our favorite place to dine, excellent food, service, selection. Tours (with one exception) were well planned, educational with well informed guides, always some free time after the tours to explore, eat or relax. Evening entertainment on ship was outstanding, young performers that I would not be surprised to see on Broadway one day. There were also good lectures and discussions about the ports of call and related subjects. Without exception, all the staff working on the ship were friendly, courteous, attentive and efficient. Met a lot of enjoyable passengers as well, enjoyed meals together. The extension trip was wonderful, the best part being the Viking appointed hostess. She was well above all our expectations! Scenery, tours, restaurants and hotels were most enjoyable. Will definitely be taking another Viking cruise in the future. Read Less

The king size bedding was very comfortable. The bathroom was great for a cruise ship.It was clean and convenient and the appointments were great. The shower was a good size. The Cruise Director was amazing. She was very well organized, communicated very well, and was a talented entertainer. The Crew was efficient and friendly from the Captain down to the lowest ranking crew members. They were all amazing. I would recommend that some additional Shore Excursions are offered in smaller groups on smaller vehicles. Read Less

Viking Star was the second cruise out of a 4 cruise itinerary. I wasn’t sure it would be our style but we loved it from the first moment on board. We felt so loved and welcomed. The entire crew and staff were visible all the time with a cool towel and drink after returning from side tours. The food was very good but not as good as QM2. Room service was great! Explorer Lounge was our spot for after dinner drinks. The 2 guys that work that area are awesome. We loved that the ship had books everywhere. The pianist Andrea was outstanding along with the slack key guitarist. The entertainment was all great along with the lectures and port talks. We loved the included excursion at every port. Their side tours were very reasonable along with the premium beverage pkg. the spa was great. I got a pedicure and the technician was great. Our cabin attendant was great. We had a balcony cabin. We liked the Nesprrsso in the room. The bathroom was awesome! The large shower and heated floors were s huge plus. Thank you Viking. You finally got what cruisers want! The laundry room worked great. The daily program worked great with our lifestyle. Timing of the daily schedule is important to us due to sleeping times after long excursion days. The expensive excursion to the Vatican was not worth the $. It was not Viking’s fault but 45,000 people were in there on our day. We felt literally pushed thru and unsafe. The tour guides were wonderful and tried to make it bearable. The Panoramic Rome bus tour was great. We loved the itinerary, especially the Croatia stops of Split and Dubrovnik. We loved Corfu too. We also liked the night on the boat in Barcelona. The included tour was wonderful. We had a magical 12 days and will definitely take another Viking cruise. Read Less

First time on Viking and now I have no choice but to only use them. Have cruised on three other lines but once you go Viking it sets a standard that can't be matched. The ship, rooms, staff, food, drinks, etc., etc. are such a step above anyone else we have been with. It seemed like everyone of the staff knew are first names within 24 hours on being on board. I was especially impressed with stability of the ship. On our "day at sea" we encountered some rough weather but you didn't notice any extra movement of the ship. The rooms and amenities were fabulous. Can't beat it!! I would rate everything about our cruise as excellent with the understanding you pay for what you get. Not the cheapo cruise line but if you want an experience that you will remember then go Viking. Our excursions were mostly the included ones with the exception of Naples & Rome. For these we did a private tour with Italytours.EU. Would recommend them highly. Pricing is great and we had our 4 people in our own van with private guides and skip the lines for all attractions. Super job done by this tour group. Read Less

Viking cruises are for adults who want to learn something about the places they visit and don't want to be "nickel and dimed" for every little extra. Embarkation and disembarkation were quick and smooth. With only about 900 passengers, you're never fighting crowds. The service was exceptional on this ship, with very happy crew members. The ports were a good variety of Mediterranean stops. Because there is an included tour at every port, there was always an excellent guide describing the attributes of an area, telling you the best places to shop, and highlighting additional things you can do after the tour was completed. We chose a couple optional tours, such as the Opera at night in Venice, but for the most part, the included tours were enough. The ship is well appointed, with several lounges. The musical entertainment was exceptional. The band and singers were skilled and worked well together. The variety provided was good, with even a talented cruise director performing one night. By the way, the cruise director was the best we've ever had and we've done dozens of cruises. This is not a ship with lots of entertainment venues for youngsters nor a casino. What we enjoyed instead were very interesting lectures by guest speakers who gave us the history of the places we were visiting and many other TED type talks. I loved listening to these. Our veranda stateroom was roomy enough, but could have used more drawer space. Our cabin steward brought us as many extra hangers as we needed. A nice amenity is the free laundry facilities which are quite useful on a 14 day cruise. The fitness center and spa were fabulous. I used the fitness center every morning. It had lots of equipment, was very spacious, with windows looking out to sea. The dressing rooms were large and included were a sauna, cold dip, large vitality pool, hot tub, snow grotto, and steam room. On the last few days at sea, the snow grotto was closed for maintenance. The food was very good and they were very careful to plan for my allergies. We would definitely book a Viking ocean cruise again. Read Less

Our first cruise we decided to choose Viking. Smaller ships, less likely to have children and more people our own age. We are not explorers so we wanted to choose the best atmosphere for us. Viking gave us great options. Excursions to choose from were awesome. We enjoyed everyone of them. Free and the ones we had to pay for. I would recommend investigating and researching ahead of time as there are so many options. Always hard to decide which one you want to see more. I would like if we had more days in certain ports though so you didn't have to pick and choose. The cabinets were above our expectations. Balconies, beds and bathrooms were better than some of the great hotels in Las Vegas USA. I would sail again with Viking over any other one because of what we have experienced. The staff and crew.. I can not express enough how greatly they treat you. The cabin stewards assigned to us were the best. Always going above and beyond their job to make you feel comfortable and always took to the time to chat with you and get to know you. Every staff member from bartenders to the cleaning crew always took the time to see how you were, was there anything we needed or just said hi, "how was your day". The food was to die for. Never disappointed in the options you are given in those choices. We had room services every morning for breakfast and was never disappointed. I feel like I lost weight on this cruise. 3 meals a day and lots of activities.. No potato chips in sight.. GREAT!!! I just loved everything about this cruise. Entertainment was great. The singers and entertainers we met and some of their family members who were on the ship also. They were sweet and nice and the most friendly. I would tell everyone I know to do Viking. You would not be disappointed. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the range of countries, ports and variety of excursions offered. We loved Croatia, a country we might never otherwise have seen. Corfu was beautifully exotic. In Naples we toured Herculaneum rather than Pompeii and were surprised how immersive the tour was, being able to walk through the buildings and get up close to the frescoes, even walking on the original tiled floors. Then on to Florence. Every corner, every building was an architectural wonder. Monaco was underwhelming, we heard after that Nice is a better choice to explore. Marseille was a surprise being cleaner, friendlier and more relaxed than I remembered from the early 70s. Our cruise ended in Barcelona, a city I had looked forward to seeing but somehow didn't appeal as much as I'd hoped. In each port the bus drivers were expert at getting through narrow streets, tour guides were knowledgeable, though one or two should back off from the heavy sell they use to get tourists into favored retailers. All staff we encountered on the cruise were efficient, professional, welcoming and friendly. The meals on board were excellent, restaurant quality and never disappointed. The Viking Star was a smooth and stable home for our 12 days even in some overnight rough weather. Embarkation and disembarkation ran extremely well, obviously they've got it streamlined. We are looking forward to our next cruise, and it will be with Viking. It matches perfectly our choice for number of fellow passengers, age and interest profile and truly becomes an important part of the whole vacation. Read Less

We were looking for a special way to celebrate our 35th anniversary and decided on the Viking Mediterranean Odyssey. Neither of us had ever been to Europe and it had always been a dream of mine. We had heard so much good about Viking that we decided to go for it! Had a rough start-flight was cancelled and arrived late missing Venice...but that wasn't on Viking. Once on board, it was all good! The atmosphere on board was instantly calming and made it easy to forget the beginning and enjoy the ship and all the great ports. Our excursions were all very interesting with knowledgeable guides. Viking thinks of everything that you could possibly need and more! I especially enjoyed the breadsticks and limoncello after an all day excursion in Rome. The staff was so attentive and knowledgeable. Our room was kept spotless, the food was unbelievable and there were so many places on the ship to relax and unwind. I was also a big fan of afternoon tea in the Wintergarden. I will never cruise on one of the megaships again -- the size of the Viking ship was perfect. No pushing your way through the casino crowd after dinner or manuevering through the shoppers trying to get a "deal". This was hands-down the best trip ever! Read Less

This was our first Viking cruise: Venice to Barcelona. The Viking Star is a gorgeous ship, clean, beautifully furnished and kept up. I was consistently impressed by how nice it was, with comfort as a key component of the ship's design and decor. The cabin was roomy and comfortable to hang out in, and the balcony was great. How wonderful to wake up each morning in a different amazing port! Entertainment was kind of corny, but fun and well done and everyone enjoyed the energy and liveliness of the young entertainers. Food was solid: we mostly ate in the World Cafe, as lunches ashore were big and late, so we usually wanted a lighter dinner. Didn't keep us from our nightly gelato on board, though. The service was friendly and attentive -- and this applies to ALL staff we encountered. We appreciated the variety of the excursions and the exceptional local guides. Really, we found nothing to disappoint in this experience and will certainly cruise with Viking again. Read Less

We had previously used Viking for China and had THE most amazing and wonderful experience so we naturally looked at Viking for the Mediterranean. The ship, Viking Star was immaculate at all times, the staff friendly and helpful, cabin clean and spacious and the communal areas well maintained. The buffet food was incredible and the special seafood night at poolside was a foodies delight. We did all the included excursions and bought 3 additional trips. Venice Opera, was expensive and didn't live up to the brochure explanation...warm wine and no snacks! However, the balance of the trips where good but very busy in Athens as there where several other cruise ships and it was a bit of a bun fight at times, that aside we enjoyed them. Several of the guides where exceptional, a few good and one mmmmmm just ok...but it didn't spoil our overall experience. If we did Viking again we would look again at the additional trips that say 'with wine and snacks' a little more carefully ! Read Less

We have received brochures from Viking for many years, for river cruises, most of which went to places we had already visited by land. When this cruise down the Adriatic came through, we chose it to celebrate our Golden Wedding, as a special treat. It could not have been more wonderful. The whole ship was beautifully laid out, with attractive, subtle decoration (not all gold and glitz), it was extremely efficiently run with every procedure going smoothly, and the staff were all fantastic - friendly, helpful and cheerful, even when they had been working all day, and some during the night too while we sailed. All the visits in port were beautifully organised and the guides were good. The crowds in some towns were unfortunate but on board, we did not feel at all crowded, despite there being 1400 people on board. This holiday was way beyond our expectations and we are recommending Viking to all our friends. Another trip may well be in the diary at some stage. Read Less

We chose Viking Ocean Cruise because we have taken 2 river cruises and we were extremely impressed with the staff, the ship and the excursions so we decided to go with Viking Ocean. The ship had so much to offer. We loved having the infinity pool to hang out at after an excursion. It was so relaxing and a great place to meet other people. The suites are fabulous, plenty of room to relax and enjoy. The housekeeping staff and other staff are very friendly and always trying to please. We felt the dining was a bit off for breakfast and lunch. We would sit at a table and there would not be a salt and pepper shaker on the table and it would take awhile before someone would come over to help us. The restaurants on the ship were excellent. The only disappointment was that the food did not match the ports that we visited. We felt the food on the river cruise was much better and the variety of food was excellent on the river cruise. We would take another ocean cruise with viking but we prefer the river cruises with less people on the ship. Read Less

We had gone on the Rhine River Cruise in 2017 and were so impressed with Viking - the food, the excursions, the staff and accommodations - we knew we would travel with Viking again. Italy and Greece were two destinations on my bucket list so when we found the Emperors of the Mediterranean we know that was the cruise we needed to book next. The ship was beautiful, the options and the guides for each excursion were exceptional. The pre- excursion in Tuscany was wonderful - the billa accommodations and meals prepared at the villa were phenomenal and Roberta, our guide, was amazing! The deluxe suite on the ship was beautiful and spacious. I loved the afternoon in Winter Garden and all the beautiful sitting and lounge areas throughout the ship were great. We really enjoyed the spa and Harri was amazing for my massage and we participated in the Nordic Bathing Ritual with Harri as well. The snow grotto was a fun addition to the spa area. I was, unfortunately, disappointed with the food. We felt the food - variety and quality - on the river cruise was far superior to the ocean cruise. There seemed to be a lot of repetition each night and many items lacked flavor. The river cruise did a better job of tailoring each dinner to the port/ region we were visiting. The port talks were a bit too early, often missing them because we were just getting back from an excursion or cutting into the tea time. The other suggestion to consider is the amount of free time built into the excursions. While I understand we are on a tight time table we did not feel there was enough free time to explore the area on our own. Typically we had 20 30 minutes of free time at the end of the excursion which was not enough time to grab a drink or cup of coffee let alone do any shopping. Over all the ocean cruise was good however I think our next Viking trip we will return to the river options. Read Less

It has beautiful public spaces, we were always able to find a spot by the pool and the outside decks. Poolside service was a little slow. Our Explorer Suite was perfect. Love being on the back of the ship with expansive views as we sailed away. Because this was a relatively short cruise, 12 days, we only dined in the main restaurant once. It didn't impress. Food and ambiance were just a little above average. We really enjoyed the Chef's Table restaurant with wine pairings. The Italian restaurant didn't disappoint either. Entertainment was just average, some evenings only a movie was offered. Overall service was very good and the ports were great. The Viking Star and crew did not disappoint. It is often said you get what you pay for and Viking stood tall. The crew hospitality was heart warming to say the least, always personalized and always delivered in a jubilant way that is refreshingly uplifting to the spirt after a long day ashore or leaving your cabin for an anticipated dinner experience. The physical appearance of The Star is impressive in it’s absolutely clean environment throughout the ship. This was our second Viking Cruise on The Star, the last being 15 nights out of Barcelona to Bergen in 2018. It was uplifting to see again so many crew members who’s interactions with each other, regardless of status, continue to be seamlessly positive. Five stars to the entertainment on-board. It would be unjust to single anyone out, least I forget to mention someone, from singers to band members all were exceptionally talented. My only (false) negative is that my failure at self discipline led to a few pounds joining us is a testament to the exceptional variety and quality of food and beverage. We look forward to next summer where a Viking River Cruise awaits our discovery and new adventures. Tom & Regina Read Less

We like smaller ships rather than the huge ocean liners., which is why we picked Viking. The Viking Star is very elegant and first class in every way and has a personal feel because of the smaller size. The food at all the restaurants was very high quality. We were impressed with all the healthy choices and the variety of great food. The service on the ship was extremely attentive. The cabin was very spacious. The one thing I would criticize would be the lack of drawers for clothing. I think more drawers would make the room perfect. I requested more hangers, which definitely helped. The bathroom had a good amount of storage space and the shower was a very comfortable size. Embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The selection of shore excursions was very good and we enjoyed our tours. The entertainment was fun and well done. We had been anxious to visit the Balkan countries along the Adriatic, and felt that the cruise itinerary offered on the Viking Star would be the best way to do this. Having traveled on other ocean cruise lines, we were pleasantly surprised at how much of a "step up" our experience on Viking was. Lots of space, pleasant environs, excellent dining and top of the line shore excursions. The staff were definitely there to serve. Guest Services did an outstanding job when we had any questions or concerns. The ports of call were excellent, however, we were a little disappointed in how crowded several of the ports were (Dubrovnik and Santorini). The main Restaurant offered an excellent menu, with "local" offerings associated with the current port of call. The wine selection was good. The Explorers Lounge was a pleasant place for a pre-dinner cocktail, especially when sailing away from port. We definitely would sail with Viking again. Read Less

We wanted to try Viking ocean cruise ships since we have made several river cruises. It was a beautiful ship with the customary superb Viking care, service and food. And we were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary by visiting Italy for the first time, taking the Italian Sojourn, Venice to Rome cruise. We took the Tuscany extension which included staying in a 600 year old villa set in the beautiful Tuscany countryside. One of the highlights of that visit was an enchanting dinner at an even older villa and winery. Viking excels in remarkably designed cabins that maximize space and efficiency. We received the wonderful care by the crew on our deck as well as in the dining room as we have in the past river cruises we've taken. One of the bonuses of the ocean cruise was the remarkable lecturer who was uniquely qualified to communicate enriching information and insights into both Italy and Croatia as well each port of call. He was delightful and helpful in his presentations and happily answered questions one on one. Another bonus was the tremendous bargain we received by scheduling our next cruise while onboard during the cruise. We chose a river cruise from Lyon to Avignon in southern France and the saved a great deal by dong that. All in all, we encourage anyone to try Viking ocean cruises.. Read Less

We had gone on a Viking River Cruise, and were so impressed with the quality that we decided to try an Ocean Cruise. We added a 2 day stay in Barcelona before the cruise and a 3 day stay in Tuscany after the cruise. Everything was arranged by Viking for this. Upon arriving in Barcelona, we were greeted by Viking reps at the luggage pick up and they graciously guided us through customs and to our transportation to our hotel At the Hotel we were again greeted by a Viking representative to lead us to checking in to the hotel, and since we were early for our room, he led us to an area where other reps talked to us about possible excursions were could take while in Barcelona. Absolutely no pressure was put on us to take any excursions at all. The rep answered all of our questions and guided us to an excursion that would show us Gaudi sites in town. Our room was ready when we finished. The recommended tour was great, as was the night of flamenco dancing they recommended. We were given clear instructions about where to leave our luggage for the trip to the ship, and that all went seamlessly. At the ship we were again greeted graciously, and given champagne while we waited for our room where we found all our luggage already delivered. We were almost immediately greeted by our steward who answered all our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. The next 13 days were glorious. the excursions were well planned and left plenty of free time for us to explore on our own. back at the ship, the service was amazing. The staff could not do enough for you, and the food....I didn't miss a meal which was the only problem with the trip. Many of the staff knew us by name after seeing them only a few times and made us fee as if we were the only couple they needed to take care of. We visited 4 of the restaurants on board and the food was excellent in each. The 3 days in Tuscany afterward I would recommend to everyone. Bothe the hotel and oyr guide were amazing. Read Less

The best review is....WE BOOKED ANOTHER CRUISE while onboard! Our positives are too many to mention here...glorious sunrises with breakfast on our private veranda are at the top of that long list! Viking is a well-oiled machine...from coordination of airport transportation, embarkation, the fabulous excursion options, how we were organized to exit the ship for excursions, dining options, OMG! We felt spoiled, spoiled, spoiled. Our only negative was the post-extension in Rome. Going forward, we will consider a pre-extension....the post-extension affected our relaxed mood following the cruise where we were spoiled, but I’m sure that was the hustle and bustle of Rome. Wish Viking had offered us excursions in advance in Rome during the post-extension trip just as they did during the cruise as all cruise excursions were excellent. Of the two Viator tours that we booked on our own in Rome, one was phenomenal and one was a disappointment (the most expensive one!). The group dinner on our last night in Rome, that our Viking rep at the hotel coordinated after our arrival in Rome, was a night to remember, so.... more of that please. I personally needed to pre-arrange in advance to assure we took full advantage of our short time in Rome. So, giving us advance options for Rome through Viking would have been preferred. I heard a few others on the cruise who were also in the post-extension trip say the same. We now plan to take many more cruises with Viking. THANK YOU VIKING!!! Read Less
