First time with Royal Caribbean

Review for Splendour of the Seas to Europe - Western Mediterranean

Having cruised with other cruise lines, this was our first with Royal Caribbean on the Splendour of the Seas. On arrival at the terminal in Gatwick, we were met by a rep, and quickly checked in without any wait. On arrival at Venice we were again met by reps, and although a short walk to the coach, we were quickly on our way to the cruise terminal. Embarkation was quick and easy and we were ...

Good for a short cruise around Mediterranean

We were four adults who planned this trip just a few months before leaving, so we did not have a lot of time for planning and this was the start of the busy season in Europe. Royal Caribbean arranged our flight from USA with Choice Air and this was a good decision. We booked a place which is called a hotel but is actually an apt. called Ca' dell'arte Suite with two bedrooms, but only 1 bath on ...

My review of the Splendour may be irrelevant since hours after we disembarked, she was taken to Cadiz for the refurb, but I think my review may be helpful for those interested in sailing with RCCL for the first time. We sailed out of Venice on Oct 17, 2011, for what amounted to be a transition cruise as the ship was sailing to Spain to be refurbished. The Splendour is among the oldest and smallest ...

Smaller ship, a little dated and beware of aft balcony!

We had an aft cabin on deck 7. We were really looking forward to this since we had never booked an aft balcony. I couldn't find much information before we left about the aft balcony. We wanted it because we knew it was a bigger balcony and we could enjoy seeing where we've been. On our second day (a day at sea) we noticed black ashes on our towels on the lounge chairs as well as on our table ...

Very enjoyable cruise on Splendour of the Seas

Having read a number of reviews we were a little worried about our trip on Splendour of the Seas but having returned I was wondering if I had been reading about a different ship. We did the Greek Isles and Turkey cruise with a selection of excellent stops. We booked our own flights to Venice from Dublin and thankfully had done a bit of research on how to go from the airport to Venice then onto ...

We recently returned from sailing on the Splendour Of The Seas leaving from Venice, Italy. Our ports on the eleven day cruise were Croatia, Athens and the Greek Islands. The staff of Splendour were beyond fantastic! Every single person we encountered were friendly and very helpful. The ship was extremely clean and organized. I had read it was somewhat old and looking it's age but we saw ...

I will bring out both the good parts and problems this ship has when you sail on it. Pros: 1. The ship was old but really clean. They shampooed rugs outside cabins every day. 2. The Itinerary was excellent. Venice, Montenegro, Ephesus,Bodrum,Athens, Santorini, Mykonos, Split were wonderful choices for ports that provided great options. We felt the food was pretty good, have not experienced ...

First time crusing, Mediterranean a great way to start

This was our first time on a cruise and in the Mediterranean. It just seemed like the best way to get to many of these fantastic ports and it turned out we were right. With the jam packed schedule for the cruise, it was actually more work than I thought. We relaxed on the ship and ate great, but it seemed that close to every day we were at a different port with so much to do and see. We burned ...

Just returned from Splendour of the Seas leaving from Venice and doing the Greek Islands. I cannot recommend this itinerary enough, each island was more beautiful than the next.We spent two days pre cruise in Venice. Arrival was pretty simple and the airport was easy to navigate. We were staying at the Hotel Olimpia near piazzale roma. Perfect location! When we arrived at the airport we took ...

Venice: we stayed at B& B Casanova ai Tolentini the night before our cruise and again for 3 nights after the cruise. Highly recommend this B&B, rooms are large and beautifully decorated, free internet access, very helpful staff. Ideal location--less than 2 minute walk to Piazzale Roma where buses (both land and water) are located and only 2 easy to navigate bridges to cross with your luggage. ...
