After spending a few pre-cruise days in Venice, we boarded the Island Princess, our first time with them so we were naturally wondering what we would find!
The boarding was quite good, everything ran smoothly; the cabin was ready and our luggage was placed inside shortly after.
Cabin E710 is located at the back of the ship so it was quiet as there were not many passengers moving around ...
My husband and I have more than 30 cruises under our belt, however, we usually do not use one cruise line. We select our cruises based on itineraries. The selection of this cruise was based on the ports and because my sister and her husband were traveling with us and they wanted a long cruise. This was our third transatlantic, the first two on Celebrity Cruises, but this one on the Island Princess ...
It was a shame what the corporate office did when they decided to add 200 more rooms on the ship. Apparently they didn't account for the 400 more passengers to eat in the main dining room. We had my time dining and most nights were given beepers to wait for an available table. Never had that happen before. Thought I was waiting at Rec Lobster! On formal night they ran out of beepers and we were ...
We relied on the very good reviews of this ship when we booked our cruise late in 2014, and the resulting high rating of the ship , but unfortunately most of the reviews and the resulting rating predates renovations that were recently completed in March 2015 after we booked. So be forewarned look at the recent reviews only and ignore the ship rating or you will be misled by them like we were. ...
We did the 17 days transatlantic tour on the Regal Princess leaving Venice on October 17, 2014. We had a mini suite on the Riviera Deck. After the huge advertisement made by Prin-cess for the apparently most beautiful ship, we were very interested to build our own opinion. Here is our report:
When you judge a new ship which according to the advertisement is the best ship which Prin-cess has ever ...
Just sailed on the Regal Princess for our transatlantic cruise... Let me tell you about the positives.... The ship was gorgeous. The food in the buffet was adequate.... The bad news.... The elevators were not running properly.... You had to wait sometimes 1/2hour to 45min to get into an elevator..... This was not a 17 day cruise.... This was a 30 dy cruise, were it picked up addt'l passengers in ...
We booked the Regal Princess Transatlantic cruise over a year ago. We love sailing from Venice and could not wait to see the new ship. We arrived in Venice two days before the cruise and met the four other people who would be sailing with us. I would strongly suggest arriving at least a day early for any cruise from Venice. It is such a magical place that you be missing so much to just fly in and ...
Pre cruise we stayed on the Grand Canal at the Hotel Santa Chiaria in Venice right off of Piazza Roma. This hotel is convenient to the airport bus drop off location (6 Euros per person for the airport bus) and also to the People Mover that you can take to the port for embarkation (1 Euro per person).
The ship was a delight. It is quite spacious with many public areas to lounge/linger in. There ...
The Royal Princess was a fairly new ship on its first transatlantic crossing in October, 2013. So, why did we have towels and wash cloths that were frayed? Why is there rust everywhere you look? Ours was an obstructed-view balcony with up close views of the life boats and their hoists which had lots of rust showing – already, even the stainless steel posts on the balcony were spotted with rust! ...
First let me say that I have been on five other transatlantic cruises, two of which were on the Ruby and Emerald Princess (nice ships). This ship just does not measure up to the hype and is not designed for the passenger. The bean counters got hold of what could have been a really great ship and really messed it up. Complaints on this ship were the primary source of conversation during my recent ...
