Chose this cruise for the itinerary as places we hadn't been before . Have cruised with other companies , Royal Caribbean, Celebrity , P & O previously. Lovely start to the holiday with 3 days in lake Garda prior to picking up the ship in Venice. Boarding at Venice a nightmare took over 2 1/2 hours all down to only having 3 security scanners working for over 3200 people , come on MSC sort yourselves out this is not rocket science open more scanners ! Cabin OK very clean and lovely balcony, the ship is very clean except if you eat in the buffet restaurant which is little better than a poor cafeteria , plates not cleaned away and food left everywhere , get more staff, I have never experienced this on other ships very off putting when you are trying to eat . Also food Luke warm never had a hot meal in there. Main restaurant good food but lacking in service we waited 45 minutes between starter and main course and the waiter only had 4 tables to take care off !! Why is that ? Had the full drinks package which was great , especially the Aperol Spritz ! Now we come to the last day on ship due back into Venice ! We were cursed with thick fog which no one can help its how the communication was handled that I have an issue with . We were told initially that the dock time of 10am had moved to 12pm fair enough . At 2.20pm still no news and then we were told that we would dock at 3.45pm . People had flights that they had missed etc and with no information this made a bad situation worse its all about communicating with your customers guys, people were fuming. We were lucky and had a late flight so all OK for us. When they eventually docked no announcements about getting off the ship so a bun fight ensued and it was pretty much a free for all , I feared someone would get trampled on ! In summary MSC are not of the same quality as the premium brands , granted they are cheaper but have cut corners in the wrong places eg no tissues in the tissue dispenser in the bathroom when asked told ' we don't provide these anymore' really !!! Sorry to rant on but its important people know what to expect Personally MSC not for us prefer better quality and service at a higher cost Read Less

We picked this cruise because of the itinerary. We have cruised with MSC's bigger ships (Divina, Preziosa, and Seaside). So our expectation at least for the ship experience is a tad lower than the ships we've been. Ship Ship is showing its age but still pretty decent. It is a mid-size ship. It looks a bit crowded in some common areas (like the buffet, theater, upper open deck, etc.) but there are some spaces where you can hang out in peace. Common areas are maintained well. We have used the open area in Decks 13 & 14, mostly in Deck 14. The open section of Deck 13 is designated smoking area. Try to avoid it if you do not like the smell of cigarette or cigar. There are 2 pools in Deck 13 which I find not used a lot during our cruise. The weather was great most of our 7-night cruise. We were surprised that there were vacant lounge chairs in Deck 13 & 14. We were able to use them several days during our cruise. The shops and boutiques are pretty standard. There are enough variety of goods. The theater is big considering the age of the ship. However, the seats are not as comfortable compared to the newer MSC ships we have been. Itinerary This itinerary didn't have a sea-day. We were on land (on port or tendered) everyday of this 7-night cruise. The itinerary is great. Except for one day when it rained while we were tendered in Sarande, the weather was great and the places needed a second visit. I wish we had more time in Pireaus/Athens, Dubrobnik, and Mykonos. If you don't pace yourself, you will get exhausted easily. The timing of arrival in Pireaus and Dubrobnik were perfect. Tourist attractions are not yet so crowded. If you don't like to be stressed-out in Athens, take the excursion from the ship (a bit expensive but stress-free) or take the Hop-On-Hop-Off just outside of the cruise terminal/port gate in Pireaus. If it your first time in Dubronik, go to the Old City and circle the city walls. A little bit expensive (€29) but it gives you a good view of the sea, the mountain, and the Old City. Walking in Acropolis and Dubrobnik's Old City walls or even in the Old City streets might be slippery when raining. Food/Evening Show/Dance lessons The buffet area is relatively small compared to the bigger ships but we were always able to find a table. Table clean-up in some areas of the buffet is slow. One of the things I've learned when using the cruise buffet is getting there at the right time to have a hot meal. Food is good for the most part. There were some fish dishes that were not to my liking but that is a matter of preference. Their pizza never fails. Sometimes there is a line up on the pizza isle. We used the MDR for most of our evening meals. We also used it a couple times for lunch. We used it to have a less-hurried meal time. The food/menu is good. Nothing special but decent meal. The waiters are nice. You can tell them if you want your meal to be served quickly. There was a meal that I find a bit salty. The waiter even asked me if I want to pick another from the menu but I declined. It was not a big issue to me. The Evening Shows were nothing special. Every night there is a theme but basically singing and dancing, some acrobat, and some magic trick. I find the sound volume is a bit loud. Production quality is about average (like your high school musical production). Talent quality - singing, dancing, acrobat, and magic trick is like the elimination round of America's Got Talent. There are other singers and musicians that plays in various lounges in the ship. Talent quality is not great. We didn't participate in any dance lessons but we were in the same location where the lessons were conducted. The dance instructors were good and has the talent to encourage the participants to be comfortable at dancing. Embarkation The Embarkation process needs some work. We arrived at the cruise terminal from Marco Polo airport around 11:45am. The bag drop-off line up is already long, however, it was moving decently. We entered the cruise terminal after 12:00 noon and the line up was almost to the terminal doors. There were no annoucements or information posted what to do. The line up was slowly moving. We got our Priority Boarding number tags (#22) at 12:15pm. We stood at the line that wasn't moving until 1:00pm when an announcement came that they are starting to board Priority Boarding #1. We broke-off from our line and moved to a more comfortable section of the cruise terminal at this time while watching the display screen show the Priority Boarding numbers that are boarding. We started boarding (get through port security) at 2:15pm - 2 hours since we arrived at the terminal. It took us another 15 minutes to line up and board the ship. We were able to locate our cabin quickly and have our lunch at the buffet. It was our worst and chaotic embarkation so far. Disembarkation Other than the itinerary, we also picked this cruise because it disembarks in Venice which will give us enough time to visit the other parts of the city we missed when we visited Venice 4 years ago. Because of weather (foggy morning), we were not able to dock on the scheduled (even the revised) time. We were disappointed that we won't have time to visit Venice. Our only consolation was that 1) we don't have stress-out ourselves rebooking our flight because our flight out of Venice is the day after, and 2) the buffet was open and we had our breakfast and lunch on the ship. We docked at 3:45pm. There wasn't an explicit announcement which group was disembarking but display screens in the ship showed which (color) group are being processed for disembarkation. Our group started lining up from the back lounge of the ship at 5:00pm. We were out of the cruise terminal at 5:20pm. Final thoughts This cruise was the most expensive cruise (fare) we had compared to the other cruises with MSC. But we enjoyed it as much as the other cruises we had. Room Service is included in our Fantastica cabin which we used several mornings for breakfast. Embarkation was a disappointment which I hope MSC will address in the near future. It is always best to stay in Venice on the day of disembarkation. I've noticed that the ship is trying to lessen single-use plastics by using a refillable shampoo and soap dispenser, no plastic sache for food condiments, and paper bag or no bags at all at boutique stores. I'll give MSC brownie points for that initiative. Food wastages in the buffet is still a common thing. I may sound like a wet-blanket with this observation but it appears that there are people who feels no obligation to minimize waste. I've seen plates upon plates of food that appears not to have been touched at all left on tables in the buffet restaurants. The ship (MSC Musica) will be refurbished later this year but I think we like to cruise the bigger ships. Read Less

He treated us like royalty. All the ports except Barndisi was great. There is nothing special to see. I would definitly do this cruise again. The musica staff is the best. Our room was located right in front of the ship and it was quite our cabin steward was very friendly and our room was spotless every time we return to the cabin. The food in the restaurants was great. I've tried all the food of which i could not pronounce the name of and believe me it exceeded my expectations every time. The entertainment staff was full of energy and makes us laugh a lot. Overall it was a great ship with a great crew . Well done guys Read Less

This was our first cruise and we wanted to get an overview of cruising at a reasonable cost. We were looking for a cruise out of Venice to visit the Greek Islands. We absolutely loved the cruise we found the ship to be really well organised and embarkation and debarkation were smooth and quick. I cannot understand the negative reviews that I have read on this web site, it is an international clientele with a majority of Italians but that was to be expected. There is as smoking area outside the restaurant on the top deck but this caused no issues. The public areas of the ship were beautifully clean and the service was very good . The theatre entertainment was first class and the energy of the dancers is amazing. We met some lovely people who have become great friends. A couple of negatives, the food was not brilliant, just ok, we never went hungry but you had to be careful with your choices at dinner and the buffet restaurant was a bit hit and miss. The drinks package....... we had the easy package which was limiting with very little choice and weak drinks, next time we would up grade to the higher package. Also I would bother ordering the Prosecco, canapés, fruit, package as this was was disappointing and we could not eat all the fruit. The shore stops were good ,although we did not go on the organised trips we managed to find out way around with little trouble Overall we had a fantastic time and would travel with MSC again. The cruise was a joint holiday for 4 couples who have been friends for many years. We all travelled to Venice separately, with all 4 couples doing other European tours before and after our cruise. ur cruise on the MSC Musica left Venice Saturday 14th Sept. We visited Brindici, Olympia Mykinos, Athens, Albania and Dubrovnik. The MSC shore excusions we did in each of our ports were fantastic for both content and value for money and content. The on-board facilities were excellent with exemplary service from all the MSC staff in the bars, restaurants and bistros, all over the ship.. Special mention to our cabin steward, Irene who looked after us for the week, she was a blessing....Always smiling and asking if we needed anything....A real treasure. Our waiter staff, Jetson, Roy and our dining supervisor, Carlos, in the main dining room also deserve a special mention. Very attentive to our group, always smiling. Great service We loved our daily tours but I think the highlight of our cruise was the nightly entertainment in the main auditorium. From the warm up / comedy teams that started to the show to our main acts that sang and danced and juggles and tumbled across the stage., the nightly shows were excellent. We sampled just about all MSC Musica had to offer including a Private Cocktail function for Minor Nationalities . A fantastic week on-board and one we hope to repeat in the not to distant future Read Less

We were guided by our Cruise company to book this one as it fitted the dates and they said it was a good itinerary and lovely ship. The departure city, Venice is breath taking and it is worth spending time having a look around or booking an extra night before or after, but be careful where you stay as lugging suitcases around Venice over bridges is not easy. The Ship, looked nice until you got closer, there was lots and lost of maintenance going on, frayed and lifting carpets on stairs and busy places, broken chairs, beds etc, dirty windows you could not see out of. The cabin was spacious enough (balcony), we spent a considerable time in here as the ship was full to bursting so space was not something you had in comparision to other cruise lines. Food, there was plenty if you had no allergies, my husband enjoyed the savoury the sweet all looked different but tasted the same something sweet! Ports; there were some we were so excited about, but sadly one we failed to arrive due to the weather, however we were informed by staff this happens regularly for Mykonos, so be warned re MSC cruise lines and this port. Athens was lovely and well worth a visit but it is so so hot, need to go out first thing and be under shade in the cool by midday. Activities; they were all done on the deck in the hot sun, so for those whom needed a little shade they could not take part. The shows were good and had different kinds each night, some were really clever especially having the entertainers who were more acrobatic so it made it more visual. Staff, we had a couple of nice ones, however there were some very rude and unkind and unhelpful which impacted a lot on the cruise. Reports of issues took forever (a whole week) to finally get resolved which is far too long. They are not Deaf Friendly or accessible with no transcripts for a Deaf customer, no subtitles on the TV even though they have the subtitles on the remotes and up to date smart televisions. It does seem unfair that a Deaf customer pays the same as everyone else but they do not think about basics that could make it accessible. Having said that they did have areas for disabled people, but again passengers did not care and used them, even when disabled people came along and wanted to access the area the other passengers refused to move who were NOT disabled, staff asked and senior staff, but they point blank refused, disgusting that the staff cannot force them to move as disabled people have enough to deal with, but to not have seating or places that are set out for a person with a disability is plain wrong. This was the same for the lifts, you had to force yourself in to get on a lift if in a wheelchair or with a mobility aid. The one thing we need to warn you about; EVERYTHING costs more, even a class of tap water from a bar is 75 cents!!!! Extra service charges at every turning, we sadly had a deal where gratuities were included, we so wished they had not been part of the package as the cruise line did NOT DESERVE it! We spent a lot of money on the cruise itself and then far far too much (even with watching what we spent on the cruise) on the cruise, it meant it was not 'a good deal' and the ship was not to the standard of P&O, Holland America or Princess cruises; the staff need a transplant in customer services and being sincere and polite. The passengers on the ship, well a high proportion were rude, pushing in, shouting and screaming, smoking in areas that were clearly labelled non smoking, it resulted in us preferring to be in our cabin, luckily we had a balcony, to be comfortable and not having to endure the horrid people and their rudeness and arrogance. Be warned MSC are out to bleed you dry of every penny you have, have a good level of spending money if you dare to try MSC. Be prepared to shout and scream to get things sorted and to be rude and abrupt too! Not a pleasant cruise in fact we feel we have wasted a years savings and have returned with bills and charges, annoyed and upset. We will NEVER use MSC again. Read Less

We choose this cruise due to travel dates and destinations. However if I’d known the minimal standard of this ship I would of seemed alternative options. On embarking it was chaos it clearly states on boarding papers that it commences at 11.30am. However didn’t get on board till 2.30pm. No crew took charge provided any updates. On board it clearly states where smoking is allowed and smoking in cabins or on cabin balconies is not permitted. Leaving Venice everyone was smoking flicking ash etc. contacted reception who advised us to contact them with cabins who were doing it so they could address it. We asked several guests not to flick there ash it was blowing on us but people were rude and aggressive in their response. We contacted reception who said security would speak to guests. However when security turned up they said it was an issue for housekeeping. Our issue with the smoking was that people were flicking aah and not been respectful of others. Mindue has to have a giggle when the ship sells cheap cigarettes onboard. the pool area was overcrowded with on average 40+ adults and minimum 10 children in each of the pools at one time. There is no adult only areas at all. The bars etc has no limitations either. One night we went down for disco at midnight and guests were turning up there with prams with young babies. The music was so loud and young children were grisly. Certainly not a place to take your young children. Excursions. We were meant to go to Mykonos but due to Weather we were diverted twice and arrived at Chania. However customer service could provide no information on the town and there response was they hadn’t been there before. No initiative to seek information for guests. We were then advised that they would discount the bus shuttle for £5. Upon arrival at port it was chaos no crew were there giving directions and the lines trying to get out gates were insane. Finally after people had been in line in the hot sun for over 30minutes the crew went out to assist. It was frustrating as people with young families had stood in line for a long time waiting for shuttles and when you got to gate you could get local bus following the same route for £3.40 and taxi one way was £10. To give them credit we enjoyed the excursions to Olympia, acropolis. However each one costs average of £60 Disembarking: Each person was allocated tags/colours along with times. Initially they were announcing groups then this ceased along with the updates on the screen s. It wasn’t until we approached crew that they advised we could disembark. Upon leaving ship there was one free shuttle to transport all passengers to the main terminal. Again no communication from crew. Terribly unorganised ship Read Less

For some background, my dad took me (19 years old) and my brother (27 years old) on our first cruise. Since this was my brother and I’s first cruise our expectations were not high. We saw a lot of bad reviews before coming but we decided to give the cruise line a shot. All of the ports on this cruise were gorgeous and we had a good time other than the ship being delayed causing us to get off early to make our flight back to Toronto. This is a long review but I hope it helps. Pros / SERVICE: Sheldon Dsouza the bartender and his girlfriend Maria are great! They were the best thing about the cruise! Sheldon is usually in the blue velvet lounge at night. They were also the best service we got on the ship. The ports were also beautiful. Time of ship / Communication of workers: I have heard cruises are usually on time but this one would arrive and leave late from the ports. Two days before the cruise ended, they notified us we would get into our last port late causing us to miss our flight. There was not much help from reception at all to help us figure something out and what we should do. We ended up getting off a day early, in Croatia. We dropped about $1400 on plane tickets to Venice so we could catch our flight from Venice to Toronto. Reception told us all we had to do was go to deck 4 and ask where immigration was. But nobody knew and was just sending us to different people. We were supposed to get off in Venice at 9 am, so the travel person with Expedia that we were organizing the trip with told us just not to book our flight before 12. We booked it for 12:30 and she said we would be fine. Now that we were getting in 2 hours late, we would miss our flight. (Note: Our friends we met told us they did not get to the airport till 1pm. Lesson learned to book a late flight or book one for the next day!) Boarding/First day: The day the cruise started, everyone seemed to get boarding passes/luggage tags in the mail but we got nothing. Disembarking at the ports were not organized at all unless you had an excursion it was pretty organized. Boarding in Brindisi took a long time to board, I guess since everyone got back at like the same time on the shuttles. For the restaurant seating arrangements; we did not have any arrangements till the day of. Unlike others had it done before they got there. Apparently, they have difficulties with the Canadian website so that may have been the problem. Kids/Activities: there were a lot of kids on the cruise and all were around the pool area so could not really “relax”. There was an adult’s only area on the top deck for an extra fee but it is not worth it. It is just a bar and some chairs. I also found there were not a lot of activities during the day which was fine since we would just spend the day at the port. Money: We choose MSC due to the fact it was cheaper. But a lot of added stuff just boosted up the price, like the fact water or soft drinks were not included so you had to buy the drink package. Free water in the caf, but buying water bottles at dinner was 2.90 euros for the big one. Not a big deal but even though we said no they added a unisef donation (1 euro/ person). Security: there was a lot of security to get off / on the boat. Which I think caused most of the delay to get onto to the boat. We had to keep retaking our picture since they did not like it and thought it was too blurry. Theme nights: the cruise line did not let us know the theme nights beforehand (formal, white, causal). So, we packed nice clothes for dinner of course, but my brother and my dad did not pack white. There was then a white party at night so they did not want to go and be the only ones not wearing white. So, would have been nice to know beforehand. Entertainment: Did not go to any during the day since we were enjoying ourselves at the ports. At night, we went to the shows. They were good. Some nights they had a party after but we did not attend any. We would just go hang out in the blue velvet lounge with our favourite bartender (Sheldon). I did not go to the disco but I heard from someone else they did dance lessons in there one night lol. Wi-fi: wi-fi sucked and gets used up very quickly. You can track the usage online though and see which person uses the most Wi-Fi. You can all use it at the same time but it does make it run a little slower. Food: food at dinner was very good. Breakfast and lunch were not as good. During breakfast once, there is a sit down one and there was a hair in my pineapple. They asked if I wanted anything but all I wanted was a fruit tray..without hair lol. They got my room number so we thought maybe they would do something but they did not, which is fine. It is also a mess trying to get around the buffet area since it is so busy. There was a snack bar open at night but it was very upsetting since there was barely any food (if you want pizza after 10:30 you have to pay for room service). Cabins: We had an oceanview balcony. It was small for three people but the balcony helped with getting air into the room. Our fridge did not work though; we let them know and they came two days later. We just wanted the fridge to keep our own water cooler but keeping it out in the room kept it colder than the fridge. Fitness & Rec: Gym was small. They also said there was a ‘golf practice’ on the ship but there was none. When I asked where it was they pointed me to the mini-golf even though on the signs on the ship it showed golf practice on deck 13 and mini gold on deck 15. Also said there was a ‘power walking track’ but there was no track either. Excursions: The most organized thing about the cruise. We did a “bus transfer to Olympia” in Katakolon and just bought our tickets to inside there. We saved about half the price without doing the tour and we loved it. They had signs explaining what everything was, so if you can read. I suggest doing this instead of the tour. In Athens, we did “Athens and the Acropolis”. Very busy but the tour guide was good. There was not much free time in Athens to eat so make sure you eat before or bring food. Then in Dubrovnik, we did the Kayak tour and it was beautiful. It is a lot of work but loads of fun. Lunch is included in the tour which is nice. Would I take this cruise line again or recommend it? Nope. WE ALL LOVED THE PORTS THOUGH! Read Less

I have read a lot of bad reviews about the MSC Musica and was very worried but it was amazing! Embarkation and Disembarkation were not great experiences however apart from that everything was great. The staff are second to none and cannot do enough for you. The shows were fabulous and the entertainment staff work non stop to make sure everyone is having fun. The bar staff are so friendly and the cleaners keep the place spotless. Food was great, my son loved the pizza especially. We only used the buffet as have no complaints. The ship never felt overly busy and you could always find a space for yourself. We had a balcony room which was fabulous and had everything we needed. The Itinerary was the reason I booked this cruise and it didn’t disappoint with the highlights being Mykonos, Dubrovnik and Venice. Brindisi was a surprise too such a beautiful little town. This was a first cruise for myself and my son and we loved everything about it from start to finish. I set my expectations low and everything exceeded my expectations! Read Less

We choose this cruise due to destinations it sailed to. After reading so many negative reviews I was a little bit worried about going with MSC. But let me be honest. EMBARKING After reading about chaos at embarking, this chaos comes due to witnessing the most impatient people I've ever seen trying to get on ship first. People that don't think they should queue. Your given a number and when it's called you go to security. If you can be patient everything is fine, if being impatient bothers you, you'll ruin your own holiday yourself. Watching people having a paddy cause they want to board on number 5 instead of 6 was actually hilarious. CABINS OK so when we got to enter the cabin it nice, not the best cleaning Ive seen ( a few smudges on a mirror) but at end of day it wasn't going to ruin my holiday and make me complain. The cleaner did nice touches and even left us cakes one night, I acknowledged this with a thank you note back. RESTAURANT we had 2 amazing waiters Michael from South Africa and Juni from Indonesia. We had a laugh with them every night, nothing to much trouble. If I didn't like any starters I had 2 mains instead. If you don't ask you don't get, but the problem seems to be witnessing the manner in which people ask. Talk to them in a rude manner you'll get one back, be polite and they will go above and beyond for you. Portions are small but I never went hungry. MSC are not your royal carribean or princess standard, but we didn't pay those prices to start with so don't compare the two otherwise pay more for your holiday. OVERALL We couldn't really find any faults with the ship at all. After reading so many bad reviews I soon came to realise that some people expect to much. The ships very clean, the staff work extremely hard and have been on the ship many months without a break, they may be at your disposal but treat them like humans and with respect to get the same back. Don't be put off by the hard hotdog cob review (we never found that). Also didn't get my food luke warm, weather that's because we was on first sitting. Our food always came out at a good temperature. Beware of the passengers who act like animals at feeding time in a zoo, racing up and down acting like its all going to go in a flash, this isn't Msc fault, it's your fellow passangers behaving like that, way to avoid is to go at quiter times I.E just before all trips come back to ship. We chose this cruise because the kids were free and since we were getting married it seemed like a good choice to offset some of the costs. This was my first cruise but my husband had previously cruised before on many other ships and if it was just for me I would never cruise again based on my experience on MSC but my husband swears that he's never had such bad experience on other cruises. I don't know where to begin. First, our pool towels were never changed even if I left the dirty ones in the shower, they would get folded and put back on our bed. The embarcation and debarcation was a fiasco at each port. It was disorganized like it was their first time which created long waits. The food in the buffet was limited and always running out, long waits for them to refill the food. There was never any ice at the machine except very early morning. ALL the food buffet and restaurant were "ok", nothing special just ordinary. Everything tasted the same because it lacked seasoning. Usually you have a big "always available menu" for when you don't like the dining menu but there was only 2 options there for the entire week, grilled chicken and fries. The portions were very small, we often had to get 2 dishes because of the size. The service in the dining room was awful. Given the wedding, we had a group of 17 seated together but at different tables next to each other. We never (both tables) ate together the entire week. Their table was always finished 45-60 minutes before us. At our own table, we were never served at the same time either since they would bring out dishes as they were ready and not per table which meant that sometimes 3 people would be eating then 5-10 mins later 2 more plates came then 2 more etc. On the night of the wedding, we decided to treat ourselves to the steak (20EURO/person). The steak was undercooked when we received it (20 minutes after our guests received their regular meals) so by the time we got it back it was 45 minutes later. The whole table was done eating and of course the other table in our group had already left which made it hard to serve the wedding cake (which they brought out as I was eating my steak). They then rushed us out because of the next seating was starting to come in which was the case all week but worse that night considering the circumstances of the wedding and cake. After the ceremony, we were taken all over the ship for pictures with the ship photographer which meant we left the ceremony hall with our personal decorations. We called and asked at service desk for the following 3 days (multiple times per day) and nobody knew where our stuff was and they kept saying that someone would get back to us but never did. We FINALLY received our stuff 1 hour before leaving the cruise. The entertainment was "ok". I expected a different act each night but it was the same all week but with different music and outfits. The dances are basically the same. I wanted magic one night, comedy another, dance another, acrobatic another etc. Also, on special nights such as 70's or white etc, they would close the lounges and disco to force you to go to their activity. That was frustrating. We wanted to go dance but couldn't because it would only open after the other thing was done, usually at midnight so on most nights we just went to bed early. My daughter (15) wanted to check out the teen club, we got there and there were young men (20's) hanging out with the kids and couldn't see any MSC cruise member supervising which is how this happened. I don't want my 15 year old hanging out with 20 year old men. Last issue, we had onboard credits while booking our cruise but the reception desk refused to let us use them. We only found out when we settled our bill at the end of the week. If we would of known, we wouldn't of spent to much. We were spending because we thought we had those extra credits. Read Less

We have been with msc before but this cruise from Venice was full of very noisy children and Italians. It was extremely noisy and we were on second sitting and could not hear yourself think. The food was reasonable and the service ok . The balcony cabin was very good as was the service from the steward. The boat was also noisy with strong vibrations , we were on deck 10 middle ship and it was difficult to get a good night sleep. They charge for every extra you could think of and for shuttles to the ports. The ports were good and Albania was a highlight The evening shows were first class the best we have seen and included magic , acrobats and comedy . We really enjoyed them. The reason for the average mark was mainly because of the noise and number of children on the cruise, this spoilt it for us as we are 70 years old and it was just too much. Always wanted to sail the Mediterranean! First ever cruise and included my kids. Really enjoyed the Musica. She is beautiful and versatile all restaurants are amazing. I will definitely want to sail again. Buffet area needs more control as guests hold up tables as well as deck chairs. Great time and a wonderful experience. Will definately do it again. Loved the cruise life and excursions and City visits Did not get the opportunity to use the jacuzzis as again guests are not controlled and usage should be timed. Maybe a displayed timer? Anil our cleaning person was awesome and very helpful. Could not afford the cocktails to our desire as the Rand is much weaker than the euro so costs were too much. But I am really looking forward to another cruise. Maybe the Caribbean will suite us next. My wife and kids was so amazed with my gift to them. Loved it Read Less

CONS -Embarkation - we were waiting for two hours in the port. The port guy was constantly shouting at you and people waiting. People in the queue were very poorly mannered, kicking, pushing you and trying to skip the long queues -MSC gave us incorrect drinks package and then blamed our travel agent saying travel agent provided incorrect info ( not true) -MSC allocated our preferred restaurant incorrectly and blamed our travel agent asking for that specific restaurant as per our request (not true) -Dirty bedlinen in the cabin ( stains) -Dirty bathroom ( dirty door, mirror, rust and dirt in the shower) -The balcony cabin is old and carpet/ furniture needs to be replaced very badly - The balcony is dirty and rusty - Customer service is non existent -at the very best they will ignore your complaints, otherwise they will shout at you , they could not care less about your comfort or satisfaction -Cold water at all tea stations- impossible to make a cup of tea -The pool was impossible to get into- too many poorly mannered people pushing you out of the way and kicking you ( we have got a balcony cabin Fantastica experience, which was supposed to be a luxury experience- what a joke!) -The Italian staff were very rude , inpatient, poorly mannered. They were constantly raising their voice and shouting at you. Anything we were asking for was too much of a trouble for them - Our waiter at dinner was really good but service in the restaurant during lunchtime was awful - the waiting staff was ignoring you, you could sit there for 30 min waiting to get a menu, the waiter at the door shouted at you when asked to take order ( shouting that he is not taking orders as he is a door waiter) -They will charge you for water in the cabin even when water is included with your package - They will add Unicef charge to your bill without asking you - I have got a severe allergic reaction within 10 minutes of drinking their cheap pina colada at the pool -They will mix french and english speaking groups together on excursions to earn more money, pure greed ( and will still charge you 90 euro per person). -Disembarking was terrible, staff were treating you like a cattle, long queues again for 3 hours, staff shouting at you, people kicking and pushing you, arrival was also late -Buffet was a mess, people running around, pushing you out of the way and trying to skip long queues - The wines included in the 30 euro per day package were very cheap and of a very bad quality , MSC cocktails gave me a severe allergic reaction PROS -The food was very tasty -Ports / towns where we stopped were very nice - especially Dubrovnik , Venice, Lecce, Mykonos, Olympia -Some Asian staff were very good, polite and friendly -Excursions were interesting and well organised ( except for the guide called Eva in Athens - Acropolis, Plaka and Museum tour- my advice would be to avoid this one) -Entertainment was really good Read Less

From the beginning things were terrible. Our cruise cards were not correct. We had the drink package and they put it on the card wrong. So we had to go the guest services to correct all three cabins cards. Then you have to wait in line to activate your card with a credit card. Why not do this at embarkation like other cruise lines. Cabin bed was not put together like on reservation. Another needed correction. No Kleenex in rooms under suites. They said no Kleenex on board but met a couple staying in a suite and they said suites got Kleenex. We had no wash clothes. Had to ask for them. Not that towel animals are needed. But they are cute and all other cruises we have been on we had them. Not MSC. Why not?Staff move in slow motion. Bar staff don’t even know what drinks they have. Food was average at best. Not what we are accustomed to on cruises. Very basic and not a good choice or selection for most meals. Our waiter was great. But he did not have a lot to work with. During dinner the staff are constantly walking around with fliers trying to get you to buy a 20 euro steak or lobster. Other cruise lines have lobster night and steak. Buffet was worse than cafeteria food. The staff up there don’t bus the tables quickly. Most days guests needed to bus their own tables. Excursions were so on organized. Getting off the ship was lines of people. Making you late starting your excursions. 2 excursions we returned later than we were supposed to. Luckily we booked with MSC so the ship was still there. The description of excursions is deceiving. We went on one to see the riviera waterfalls and shopping. We took an hour bus ride and saw a waterfall behind a restaurant and then another ride to a town that all the shops were closed for siesta while we were there to shop. Why did we go there? Room was not cleaned like we are used to on cruises. There was dirt on the floor for two days. Someone left a coffee cup by the elevator and it was there for 4 days. In the buffet a person dropped a piece of pizza and I counted 8 staff who either stepped on it or walked over it until someone finally picked it up. There are no little snack shops or restaurants to grab a quick snack during the day. The ports we stopped at were beautiful. But the ship staff and some excursions were sooo disappointing. Entertainment was not up to cruise standards. Every night was basically the same with a different theme. Singers were good. Dancers poor. They used the same set every night. Not broadway caliber. Get good entertainment. Anytime you have an issue they say it is a third party issue and they will email and get back to you. Never MSC again. Read Less

Used a cruise company to select suitable ship for 70yrs grandmother, daughter and granddaughter 5yrs, our first time on a cruise. The ship was old and tired throughout. Food was awful, commercial plastic produced selection, it was interesting to see what arrived on your plate after ordering, I sent many main and dessert plates back and lived on the fish dishes. I do not eat the poor quality of food that was offered, in my own home and expected to be wowed by the quality and presentation, not once did this happen. Theatre shows, pathetic. Crew were in general, miserable, especially Guest Services desk, used once and dreaded the 2nd and final 3rd time to settle my account. Child play areas on deck, boring. No play room for parents to take children to be together if you did not want to leave your child at the club! We played in the ship's library. No ice cream available, on an Italian ship!!!, no fresh strawberries or cherries, come on they were in season aplenty on shore! My overall impression of this once in a lifetime cruise, to make memories, "Benidorm on a Tugboat". I was offered 150 pounds voucher off the price of another cruise, I just laughed. Never ever again will I go on a cruise, even if offered free. It was dreadful and I just want to forget, worst holiday I have ever had in my 70 years. Read Less

We arrived at the port at 11:00. There is a free shuttle at the port entrance to the ship. It is possible to walk, but it takes more than 10 minutes (no shadow on the way). Breakfasts 7 days the same types of dishes. With a small change of taste of sweet yogurt or omelette. We sailed with MSC 4 times and 4 times with ROYAL CARRIBIEN. ROYAL CARRIBIEN has a better selection. At lunch there were 3 or 4 main courses called special dishes of the day. We ate dinner in a restaurant and not in an open buffet. There were small but very tasty portions. It was possible to order 2 entrees, 2 main courses and 2 desserts. But you'd better say it in advance to the waiter, so he'll order it all at once. A bottle of water in the restaurant cost 3.4 euros, a pint of beer for about 6 euros. In the bars of a liqueur about 6 euros. 1/3 beer 5.5 € You can have pizza in the open buffet until 2 am. 4 types of pizzas. Coffee, water and ice tea 24 hours. Juices (4 types) only at breakfast. In the morning there was also chocolate and hot milk. There is no cream cheese. A member benefits of 2 companies: In ROYAL CARRIBIEN after 3 cruises we received 100$ credit on board (for a cabin). And at MSC after 4 cruises are given a $ 50 discount with the next cruise booking. And it's also only special cruises. Cabin number 10030 was small. Entertainment/Activities: There were a lot of dancing lessons, we love to dance so we enjoyed. Shows were also good. Read Less

Santorini was my reason for choosing this specific cruise. It was everything I'd hoped for and more. We had enough time on shore to do a first exploration. The excursions are very expensive so we chose to "do it our own way". We took local excursions on arrival in some ports which were very much cheaper and very good. Other ports such as Kotor - one just walks across the road from the ship and enjoys the ancient enclosed city. In Athens we used the hop-on-hop-off bus to go to see the Parthenon and view the city. This was more than adequate. Santorini we took a local Boat/bus (for just 15 Euro each) which took us to Oia (Magically beautiful) where we walked around, shopped, marvelled at the amazing views and scenery. Then back on the bus across to Fira - again for a lovely potter around. Then for just 6 Euro we caught the funicular back down to the harbour to re-join MSC Musica. We did not try the "Donkey ride" as I am against this use of animals and it was SO VERY HOT and friends who have done it say it is quite dangerous. I have been on two cruised with MSC, a 3-day cruise within South Africa and then this cruise for 7 nights Venice - Venice. In future I will not do a cruise shorter than 7 nights and preferable longer. I would most definitely cruise with MSC again. The dinners in the dining room were exceptionally good with a good selection of food dishes. The restaurant staff were the best I have experienced anywhere. We had a full drinks package (this excludes certain top range alcoholic beverages), and the choice of wine was not good. I am a red wine drinker and after tasting the red wine on offer I stuck to prosecco and cocktails for the rest of the trip. We enjoyed our complimentary massages, but not the fact that (up to an hour) was only 40 minutes and were embarrassed by the salon staff trying to push us into buying products and booking more treatments. I had thought we had free access to the gym on the Aurea package, but was stopped and turned away by the salon staff???? The walking track on deck 14 was cluttered with day beds so one could not get exercise out there either. The nightly entertainment of music in a number of bars and the live show every night was absolutely brilliant. I will now be looking for where MSC are cruising next year and will be booking my 2018 cruise soon. Read Less

We booked this cruise because we wanted to tour Venice and also see the Greek Isles. For an older ship, it was in really good shape. However, there were many things wrong with the operation of this cruise. Meals: The buffet was total CHAOS! There were not nearly enough tables for all the passengers. If you wanted a table you had to stand and wait for someone to finish their meal and then have to search for someone to come and clean the table. Breakfast didn't have any made to order omelets, no egg whites, pancakes in warmers that were ice cold and most of the other hot foods were cold. I requested skim or low fat milk and it took 25 minutes to fill my request. Isn't a cruise supposed to be relaxing and enjoyable? The waiters at dinner were very nice and tried to accommodate as best they could. The food, however, was somewhat of a joke. 3 Raviolis for the main course seems more like an appetizer. One of the casserole dishes was supposed to consist of shrimp? We needed a magnifying glass to find the shrimp. Who ever heard of charging for coffee or tea in the dining room after dinner? I am not referring to specialty coffee - just regular coffee. We requested anchovies for our Caesar salad which the waiter had to get permission from the head waiter. When relaxing on the pool deck, there were no servers taking drink orders. You had to wait on line at the bar for a drink. We have been on 25 cruises and have never complained about them. Unless MSC does some something to change their ways, we would definitely not cruise with them again. Read Less

Overall,a great experience. We're pleasantly surprised with the good condition of the ship. We have been on the Divina twice, and it was very similar. This cruise had an older, quieter group, which was fine for us. Had the Aurea package which allowed for priority boarding, drink package, access to top deck, and my choice dining; definitely worth the upgrade. Only true negative was the food in the buffet was not fit to eat. Breakfast had no variety. Rafael and Juliana in restaurant were exceptional. Katakolon port-walked to beach which can be seen from the port. Fabulous restaurant, Marina. Had freshly grilled octopus and Ouzo which was fabulous and cheap. Corfu-did hidden beach excursion, which included a boat trip to a private beach. Also drove boat in cave. Was beautiful, and enough time. Athens-Didn't leave ship and enjoyed the quiet. We had been to Athens before. Kotor-Beautiful Country, did Kotor/Perast tour. Tour guide was very knowledgeable, and we learned a lot about his Country. Read Less

having had an excellent cruise last year on the MSC Divina we decided to give MSC another go so we booked a week on the MSC Musica sailing from Venice on the 8/11/2015. well what a disappointment that was. where shall I start, lets start with the plus's the cabin was very clean and reasonably spacious and the majority of the staff were pleasant and helpful . sorry I cannot think of any more. the shower cubicle was tiny and had a shower curtain which stuck to you all the time. the buffet was a complete shambles, overcrowded, nowhere to sit and virtually the same meals every day. the hot water stations were always closed for maintenance so they used urns which held lukewarm water no good for making tea. the restaurant had 2 sittings 18.30 and 21.00 as 18.30 was too early for us we chose the 21.00 sitting, well we were still eating at 23.00 the table we sat on was squashed in the corner so the waiter was unable to walk around and was passing meals over people sitting. the portions were very small so you needed to order extra meals and the quality was average. I have seen better entertainment on Britain's got talent and that's saying something, with the exception of the 3 girl acrobats who got into some unbelievable positions. The ports where tenders were used (3 of them) was a free for all, even though I got up at the crack of dawn to get an early tender ticket there was no organisation and everybody just pushed in. The guest services people showed an uncaring attitude and were not really concerned about your complaints. we had 3 days of balcony maintenance (painting) on a 7 day cruise. WORD OF WARNING if you book on board credit online before your cruise you have to make sure you spend it all otherwise they keep it as its non refundable, something I was unaware of as I could not see it written down anywhere.BE AWARE the all inclusive drinks package is fine but there are a lot of drinks not included even fresh orange. The biggest reasons for taking a cruise are, for me, the food, the service and the entertainment (of all kinds) on board. Lets start with the food. It was terrible. Even after just 5 nights they started repeating earlier menus in the formal dining room. The meat portions were tough, even un-edible in one case. The breakfast and lunch buffets were of much lower quality than even the large, low-cost, low-end all-you-can-eat buffets in the U.S. (they sell at around $10 person). The morning served breakfast took so long that one could not use it if you had a shore excursion. Dinner service usually took 2 1/2 to 3 hours, thereby eliminating the chance to see the formal shows. Drinks. Very small pours, less than a single ounce. Took 15 to 30 minutes to order and get a drink. At two successive sail-away parties could not even get one drink in 45 minutes. As a plus, their fancy drinks with much fruit juice did taste good. The entertainment that we did see was amateurish with one exception. The usual stage shows were fairly simple, with better acts available locally where I live. The big exception was opera night. The lead singers had big voices, with excellent range. Unfortunately MSC insisted on watering these down with their local talent when they made guest appearances on other nights. Pluses include nice tours, especially of Santorini and Corfu. Another plus was the room - sufficiently large with excellent heating, cooling and general ventilation. The closet and drawers were large with much storage under the bed. The room was always clean and orderly. Read Less

I chose this cruise because I wanted to see Venice, and visit Greece. There were company reps all guiding us to the pick up coaches, which would take us to the ship. My package was supposed to be an all inclusive deal, but as soon as you get on board you have to leave a two hundred and fifty euro deposit, with your credit card. There seemed to be a language barrier as well. I was shown to my cabin on the top deck, there were bottles of water in my small cabin which stung me for three euro's a bottle. My first nights sleep was disturbed by vibrations from some nearby machinery, and the thin walls where you could hear others down the corridor. There was only one American news channel to watch, and in the morning, I noticed my English clock radio was showing the wrong time, I kept having to reset it due to the voltage difference. There are no deck plans of the ship anywhere apart from by the lifts which just show what's on each deck. It took me about half an hour to find my way back to the reception desk, where I had to wait in a long queue to be seen. I asked the lady for another cabin and explained why, I was told that the ship was full in a very cold and blunt way, two days later more people came on board, where they were informed that they must attend the fire safety drill. My first restaurant meal came with a service charge, and if I hadn't paid for a wine and water package in advance, then a bottle of wine would have cost me be about twenty euro's. We sat at the same table each evening, so you could chat to others. I was stuck in my noisy cabin for three nights, there was a standard letter posted under my door thanking me for raising these issues which were being investigated. I was dozing on my bed trying to work out what the correct time was by switching the tv on, when the bedside telephone rang, with someone from reception, inviting me along to see my new cabin. My second cabin on the eight deck, was an outside cabin with a little balcony, and it came with an arm chair and table and sliding patio doors, it was ten times better and much quieter than the other one, plus there was no water slopping around the shower room floor. Every day there was an information sheet posted under the door with the expected arrival time at the next port of call. I had paid for two excursions one was to visit Athens and the other to visit Corfu. There was nothing much to do on board, apart from fry in the Sun, use the gym, or spend lots of money on cold drinks. The ship was so full of people and there was noise everywhere, even in the lounge areas where they had giant port hole windows where you could watch the scenery, they still had music pumped through the speakers. I did make one visit to the casino to watch friends play a slot machine, and this seemed to be the smokers area, my clothes stank for a couple of days. The excursions seemed to be rushed as well, its not easy taking photo's from a moving coach in a traffic jam. It felt like there was only about half an hour free time in Athens otherwise it was a long journey back to the ship if you missed your coach. There were many who just got off the ship and went sight seeing, I didn't have the courage to do that. The views from my balcony were very good for taking photographs. On the morning of disembarkation my credit card payment invoice was posted under my door, which showed that the restaurant service charge was eight euro's fifty each time, the Athens visit cost 52.90 euro's and the Corfu visit cost 39.90 euro's, so at the end of an all inclusive cruise which had already cost me on thousand five hundred pounds, I had a bill for for an additional two hundred and thirty pounds which included the excursion and wine package. No sooner had we boarded the coaches, we were soon at Venice airport ready for the one and a half hour flight back to the UK. When I got home, I emailed MSC with a complaint about my holiday, where I detailed my experiences on board, where I felt I had been used like a slot machine, hoping that they would refund the money I had paid, they reluctantly offered me a seventy pound credit towards my next MSC cruise. The company were collecting thousands of euro's in service charges which I stated should have come out of the cost of the cruise. I also emailed the travel agent, but got no response. Read Less

Where to start.. We booked this ship with our friends for a 50th birthday celebration, and as we'd never been on cruise before we didn't really know what to expect. A painfully slow check in, people barging, elbowing and queue jumping, being herded against a photo display and forced to have your picture taken, should have told us about what we were about to let ourselves in for.. First, the good points. The ship itself, which was actually pretty good. Clean cabin (we had a balcony room with a pull out bed for our young daughter) and well maintained communal areas, good bars and a good casino. That's really all the good points that I can think of, as the rest of the following are all bad.. We gave up trying to eat in the buffet restaurant after two days, as you could never get a seat, there was never any cups or hot water for tea and coffee, and to be honest I've seen better behaviour at a chimps tea party when it came to our fellow passengers eating there.. The deck area was spacious, although you had to fight (literally) to get a sun lounger. Two tiny pools, one for children, although this quickly became the equivalent of kiddy soup, you just could not move in the pool. Not helped by more kids jumping in and on top of each other either. And don't try to relax on deck, as invariably after 30 mins you are treated to some pounding Italian techno, pumped at full blast through the speaker system, usually to accompany some sort of competition. I would have expected all of the above if I'd decided to spend a holiday in Benidorm or Magaluf, but not on a cruise ship! I found most of the service staff, with the exception of our waiter and cabin boy, either rude, argumentative or completely indifferent. Casino seemed to be the only exception, but I expect they get more tips there, so they try harder. After being presented with my service charge at the end of my trip, I kicked up at reception and refused to pay it. After a good ten minutes arguing they waived the charge, and I paid my waiter and cabin boy a cash tip instead, because as far as I was concerned they were the only staff members who had earned it. Food very average, certainly not what I expected, although there was good choice. Not enough waiting staff, who seemed utterly overwhelmed with the amount of covers they had to look after. Being constantly bothered by photographers whilst trying to eat didn't really make for great dining experience as well. Entertainment was superb on the first night, with a couple of OK baritones and sopranos, who bellowed out a few opera classics. After that it went way downhill, seeing the same act just in different costumes. We never saw the opera part again, which was a shame. Only took one excursion, a beach trip which was very good, as my nine year old daughter didn't really want to wander round some ruins with two thousand other people.. So, when we got off ship (finally, after more queue jumping, pushing and elbowing) we did the following.. Bari - got a cab to a beach a few miles up the coast and spent a few hours snorkelling. Couldn't get a cab back and nearly missed the ship. No passports, phone or credit cards with us. Lesson learned, oops.. Olympia - didn't fancy wandering round a dust track in 35 degree heat so opted for the beach excursion. Athens - got a cab to the Acropolis, then popped in to see an old buddy who owns a hotel behind the Acropolis, then had a rather nice lunch. 20 euros each way in a taxi. Santorini - got a water taxi to a village called Ia, then walked into town. Stunning views, but heaving with people. Found a bar with a pool, so spent the day there instead. Hour and a half wait for chair lift back down the tenders, so walked down the steps instead. Had to push a woman out of the way of a herd of manic donkeys on the way down, just made the last tender. Corfu - difficult one this, and maybe worth booking a beach excursion on board ship, as cheapest taxi to Barbati beach (16km away) was 100 euros. Taxi drivers at the port, no haggling. Stunning beach though, white pebbles, great beach bar and amazing snorkelling. Montenegro - bit of a let down as we'd booked the speedboat ride to the blue pool. This was cancelled without us being informed, and by then every other excursion was fully booked. After then queuing for an hour we got the tender to shore, the highlight of which was the cat museum that my daughter loved. That killed an hour, so we went back to the boat where we spent the rest of the day. Venice - utterly beautiful. We were lucky enough to spend two days there before we embarked. Very expensive in the main tourist areas, but go back a few streets and its normal prices, a very nice lunch for two with prosecco came in at around 35 euros. Disembarkation was about the only time when leaving the ship was actually properly organised, and we were off the boat within half an hour. So that's about it. We did have a great time, but the combination of poor service, poor organisation, endless queueing and utterly dreadful fellow passengers mean we will never even consider a cruise again! Read Less

Before we went, we read the reviews here: Poor service, cold dinner, bad attitudes... So we were prepared. But things has changed, even from recent reviews. The pluses: Great itinerary: A stop each day in some of the most beautiful places in the planet. Here is what we read, and what we found: Bad employees. They apparently have been released. More than half were indonesians, rest were from central america, africa, some eastern europes. All were pleasant and helpful. Cold dinner was a common complaint. What we found: All the plates were received were hot. Dishes were generally good. Serving smaller than American cruises, but again... we did not go hungry. Feel free to order two meat, as the servings were smaller. Desert? On the two nights with the show, the tiramisu and baked alaskan desserts were TOO much... so share one for two... so you don't get indigestion. One bad plate? A pasta first serving was too salty, but it was just a first course. The risotto was bland, as it was served by itself. I would ask them to leave it so you can enjoy it with the meat or saltier dish. No water served. What we found: They did not give us water bottle tickets... it was already registered in the dining area. They did give free large bottle per person, per dining only in the dining room. If you asked for water in the buffet, you will be billed, $2.99 to be exact. You are alllowed two bottles a day - one per guest, or would be two if you traveled as a couple. So if you want one for the cabin, ask for two, and take one back. Of course, this is only for folks booked from the US or Canada. 3 buck is not expensive for water. All the drinks in the cabin ref were reasonably priced which I think is much less than what Carnival charged. The bads ?? Very disorganized and slow disembarcation, they were over 1 hour behind schedule. They did not give instruction to the guest where the luggages were (4 groups) so we fought and elbows to find out that we were in the wrong group. Very POOR information on the ports. I believe it was done on purpose, so that we will book tours with them. No maps were given, no instructions given until late at night on the disembarcation process. If you knew the port and how to get off, you'd less likely purchase their tour. Poor pre trip information on how to get from Piazza Roma to the cruise ship. We walked wayyy to much as we did not know they had a free shuttle. Embarcation was also slow and tedious.. and in the heat of the building... difficult to bear. Our safe did not work, we had to call them 3 times, and finally coming to the desk before they sent some one to fix it. If you want 2 separate beds or one king bed, arrange it before hand, as they do not like to separate or join the bed after you board. They did not give us a map of the ship.... bad. At least print it on the daily letters! They said it is posted at the elevator. Even 5 days into the cruise, we had folks still lost and can not find the dining area. The lay out of the ship is confusing.... we did not have it well oriented even after 6 days. More bads? Poor port information. I truly believe it was done on purpose. Carnival provide a brief guide to the port, a map, and what to see and do. They do not provide these informations at all, or even on the disembarcation porcess. Not until late in the evening so you can not do your planning. And have to buy their tour. I do not enjoy their tours at all, except the guide at Montenegro. They should provide us with better port information, how to get to the sites, and how to get back. Very poorly done. Here is what you should know... Bari - take the cruise bus to near town. From there, buy a cheap tour on the little train that is there. Cost $10 per person. You will see church of St Nicolaus, then walk to another church, which is by the castle and take the little train back to the shore, and take the bus back to the ship. If you chose to stay at the castle, might ask if you can hop the next train, or take a taxi or walk back. Ancient Olympia... I could not stand the greek tour guide. Talked too much, and did not let us read the map or instruction. There were many free map of the area, and she did not give us one. She just like to talk, and was hard to hear her. Better off, take a tour bus to olympia, walk and read the plaques there yourself... enjoy the site, then visit the museum. With this lady, you will not have time to visit the museum. The town was not worth much visiting... but it is within walking distance. Athens.... same. I did not see huge value in the bus tour, except to see the sites like the first olympic stadium built in 1800's, governmental buildings, etc. If you enjoy shopping and museum.. just take a shuttle to the acropolis early before it gets hot, tour the ruins. From there, you can walk to the museum, spend an hour or more then in the cool museum, then walk less than 500 meter to temple of Zeus, take some pictures, and shop in the town there. I really enjoyed the museum, and think it would be better to see it first before the ruins... but it might get hotter if you did that. Santorini.... beautiful..... Skip the tour. As soon as you get off, don't stand in line to take the cable car up. Buy a ticket from a booth, and hop on a boat to Oiai. Spend an hour or more there, and perhaps eat lunch. We found a Gyro shop by the bus stop area that served delicious hot chicken and port gyro for $2.50 a piece... a meal in itself! For 10 euros per person, the ticket will get you a boat ride to Oiai, and back to the main town by the port, I think it was Fira... There spend about 1 hour shopping in the main square (read the map for how to get there from the bus stop) and make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get back to the ship (line on the cable care 30 min to 50 min) depending on how soon you get back. Or you can walk down the steps which likely will take at least 20 min in the heat. I think there is mule ride up perhaps down the steps... as you can smell the stink of mule feces as the wind blew up the steps into the town. Last boat supposed to have left at 4:15... but many got back much later due to the long line at the cable car. Get to the cable car at least 3 pm if you do not want to wait long. At 3:30... you will be in line for 45 to 55 min! Later?? You might miss the ship!.... just find the steps and get down that way! Corfu - take the bus for like 8 euro round trip to town. You are next to the base of the old fort. We simply walked along the shore to the Museum of Eastern Art.... Just on the other side of the old building is a local small "beach"... Swam there for about 1 hour, and went shopping in town. We made a mistake by walking through the town, and when the locals point to the "cruise bus".. we headed to the WRONG bus stop, on the OTHER side of town near the newer fort. It was used by Celebrity cruise or something. Wished that MSC had provided a map, like Carnival. But it is done on purpose... to get you to book their tours. Taking a taxi cross town to the nicer beaches cost like 50 euro one way. And we enjoyed the extra time for shopping and enjoying the site by walking to the little "beach" and swimming under the great wall and sight of the castles. Montenegro... we loved our tour guide. Worth purchasing even if the tour guide was not good. Bus will take you along the shore, visit a church in the catholic city there, then take a boat to visit a little church in a man made island. Then bus back to Kotor, a beautiful old city in side a fortified castle wall that runs all the way up the mountain side. Worth to take this tour. Venice... We spent 5 days there. If you have 6 hours? It might still be worth it to buy the $20 unlimitted use of the bus and Valporeto water bus. Just make sure you are heading down the right way in the grand canal. Line 2 is rapid and get from the plaza Roma to St Marco square in about 20 min. Line 1 is slow, and get there in 45 min. Plan to spend 2 hrs minimal in St Marco. The church is free to enter. Long line at the bell tower might not be worth it.. as it is hot. Trick with the church is carry a BIG bag.. check it in on the left side of the church. They will give you a ticket to enter the church, as they ASSUMED that you have spent an hour in the line, and was turned away at the door due to your bag.. hahaha... it is cheating. We did not do that! We folded our big bag and packed it up small.. and waited in line for 25 min early in the morning. Rialto bride and the market is a fascinating sight, at least for me. Seeing the local fruits, vegetalbe, and seafood was very interesting. I just wish that MSC would be more customer friendly. But perhaps because of the need to translate the information into so many languages, it was difficult for them to develop a better guides for their stops. At least do it in a few major languages. But I really think it is a ploy to sell more tours. Drink packages?? Save 15% to 20% for drinks?? Not worth it! Don't buy it! The drinks are affordable. As the packages are given in coupon books, you will lose it... or what we find... is that they will rip out too many, or do it TWICE... so any saving you save is lost! And when you tell them, they don't care. Buy the drinks one at at time with your card.. it is likely cheaper than the booklets they sell. Ahhh... bad services?? Poor staffing.. poor cleaning. Many times I have encountered bathrooms with no toilet paper, and NO HAND towels. Bad. Infection control must be meticulous... and this is unacceptable. Later, I found toilets with just stacks of tp outside... as they did not have staff to clean and stock it. Better than having none! Buffet are poorly supported... ice is empty half of the time. Cups are gone 1/3 of the time. More than often, I am using coffee cups for water. Eating utensils not out in time, or ran out... So you run all over the place to look for forks and knives or you have to find napkins in the bar area. Food not served in the time that they claim service started. Long lines, as when they run out of a favorite food, people stand there holding up the line. This happened with the fried squid... lines lines lines... Poor planning and poor staffing. Man at the carving table did not understand English.. but refused to give me dark meat despite trying to tell him legs or thighs.... Gave me breast instead. Perhaps from lack of English, or perhaps he did not know there was a difference in taste. Ahhh... one more negative.... hot cabin! They try to conserve power so they turn down the air conditioning at night. At maximal air conditioning, it got too hot at night. And cooler in the day! This should be the opposite, as the outside temp is really hot in the day, and cooler at night. Being cheap on power made the guests suffer. We did not report it... but for overweight folks.. it might be very unhealthy. Other.. . not enough exercise equipments... They used up most of what carnival would use for exercise room for their spa. People stand in line to use equipments. Only ONE functioning elliptical machine. Carnival had like 6. Aging folks can not handle treadmill. Take care, and enjoy. We would do MSC again. as they have made efforts to improve at least in friendliness and quality of food. But if the toilets continue to run out of tp and towels This cruise line will sink like a rock!!!! As folks will get sick and their reputation will be ruined. Read Less
