Totally magic first-time cruise

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Seabourn Encore

We had never been on a cruise; never wanted to go on one. A friend in California, who has cruised extensively, suggested we consider going on a cruise and go with Seabourn. Once I looked at their itineraries and discovered that not all cruises were floating orgies and beach parties, I was intrigued. I found their 14-day Venice to Istanbul cruise--two places I had not yet been to, but wanted to ...

Disappointing

We decided to add the cruise at the end of a land holiday in Italy and after 3 days in Venice. Check-in was very slow. No food or water was offered on a hot day. Not sure why staggered check-in times were required when all passengers were in the terminal at the same time when check-in opened. Our cabin in the middle of the ship was very nice. Champagne on ice in our cabin was a nice touch. ...

Don't Waste Your Money

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Wind Star

We chose Windstar since they are a "luxury cruise line" and paid the price of a luxury cruise line and didn't receive that experience. The interior of the ship is dated and needs an update. You feel like you are in a retirement home when you go to the main dining areas. The food was cruise ship average and we often skipped meals. The water sports platform wasn't open either of the days as ...

Wonderful itinerary, excellent crew, all round enjoyable

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Azamara Quest

While we have been to Italy before, this itinerary provided stops at places we had not previously visited such as Capri, Amalfi, Syracuse, Messina and Montengro. The crew could not have provided a better experience. From our room steward Gedy to the restaurant team that provided us with a plate of fresh sushi each evening in Windows before heading to the dining room. All special requests ...

Back to one of our first loves - 8 night Croatian Intensive

18 months since we have been on board Azamara and two years since we have been on board the Quest, but within minutes of embarking the Quest for an 8 night Croatia intensive cruise, we were greeted by several officers and welcomed back as family. You can’t put a price on that. One of the major benefits of small ship cruising. It was a smooth and speedy embarkation - we were on the ship ...

Great Itinerary, Underwhelming Ship

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Sirena

We picked this cruise for the itinerary along with the expectation that Oceania was one of the better cruise lines. The itinerary did not disappoint (albeit very busy) but Sirena was a big disappointment. Embarkation: There was conflicting and last minute details on how and where to check in. There were endless emails about watching the safety video. We checked in online and the photo ...

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Sirena

Decided to write up a review to share our thoughts and insights in hope it might help others. Summary: This was our second cruise overall and first on Oceania. Our prior cruise was on NCL in 2010 with ~4200 people. Far too crowded for our tastes. We picked this cruise due to wanting to see several places (and islands) in the eastern Mediterranean on a smaller ship. Overall, we were pleased ...

First Viking Cruise was a Stunner

We had heard about Viking from several friends. This was our first time and we were blown away. The ship was beautiful, with modern, clean lines, beautiful woods, large windows and comfortable seating. The sweeping windows in the Explorer Lounge were dramatic. Everything was so well thought out. For example, books were located in several places around the ship (rather than in an library) so it was ...

We chose this cruise because we toured Rome, Florence, Tuscany and Venice prior to sailing. This cruise enabled us to see more of southern Italy and relax on the second half of the trip. Food was great, only had one off meal. The steak was chewy but the waiter was more than happy to replace with a different entree. Room service for breakfast every morning was on time, hot and delivered right to ...

#1 - learned a lot...very educated crew and guides

Review for a Europe - Eastern Mediterranean Cruise on Viking Sky

We very much enjoyed the educational material, talks, guides and information. Next, we enjoyed that there were no kids running around. The food was excellent, especially the local food as we visited various cities. The ship was not crowded and seemed like we had sections of the ship to ourselves. The excursions were the right length, not to short or too long. We went on several additional ...
