This was only my second ever cruise, and actually a sort of repeat of my first one where I spent 3 nights on Armonia in the West Med. This review will be based on my expectation when paying £630 pp for 4 nights in a balcony cabin with the premium drinks package.
Good:
The drinks selection with the premium package is very good. I would have liked to seen some more beers on draft, but other ...
While we have been to Italy before, this itinerary provided stops at places we had not previously visited such as Capri, Amalfi, Syracuse, Messina and Montengro.
The crew could not have provided a better experience. From our room steward Gedy to the restaurant team that provided us with a plate of fresh sushi each evening in Windows before heading to the dining room. All special requests ...
Decided to write up a review to share our thoughts and insights in hope it might help others.
Summary:
This was our second cruise overall and first on Oceania. Our prior cruise was on NCL in 2010 with ~4200 people. Far too crowded for our tastes. We picked this cruise due to wanting to see several places (and islands) in the eastern Mediterranean on a smaller ship. Overall, we were pleased ...
This was our introduction to the world of cruising we decided to choose MSC due to the competitive price and the ports of call.
We were travelling with the elderly so the boat needed to provide on board entertainment and that did not disappoint.
First impressions of MSC were good very well organised at the port on the day of embarkation, check in seemed to be repeated as we had already ...
My family has taken about 20 plus cruises and MSC did a fairly great job in meeting our expectations. This was our first MSC cruise. I would say the highlight of this cruise was definitely the entertainment! the shows each night were elite! the dancers were exceptional. the pianist Antonio at the L’Atmosphere lounge was extremely talented. We ended up there every night. Edwin the waiter in the ...
This was our first Viking ocean cruise. We've been on a Viking river cruise previously, as well as numerous cruises on other cruise lines. The Viking experience was different than on the larger ships. With 900 passengers, the ship never felt crowded and we had no problem going to different venues and finding seats.
The ship is immaculate and very well maintained. The crew are very ...
I've mostly sailed in Mexico and Western Caribbean. I've always wanted to do the Western Mediterranean. I found this big ship beautiful and well maintained. Everything was polished and clean. The service was great as always in the restaurants, room service and attendant. We had a balcony room which was slightly smaller than the NCL cruiseships, but the balcony was generous. The twin beds really ...
We chose Viking due to their reputation and also because no kids allowed. Did our research and booked online with an agent who was very helpful. All things pre-cruise were above par.
Just under 2 weeks to go and we got an email that our itinerary had changed. We would be spending the first 27 hrs sitting in the port, not sailing. Bummer for us as we’d already tacked on 4 days prior so we ...
Originally, I chose this cruise because it was on the Brilliance OTS and had a golf course and a solarium pool with steps leading into it as my wife has a bad right arm and is waiting for a operation so being moved to the Enchantment meant no golf and not being able to get in the pool, so she was a bit upset but not the worst thing that could happen.
As it happens, and these events are no fault ...
In a strange way, ships like the Explorer could be considered 'perfect' cruise ships. They have a little bit of everything. I read an article recently that said ships like Mariner of the Seas (and therefore Explorer) represent the best cruise value you can get at the moment. Everything you want is there, even if some of it could be improved to make it perfect.
The famous 'promenade' layout of ...
