This was an incredible ship with outstanding food and service. The ship is very clean and smoothly run. The tours were all very informative but were also very long which took away from precious time on the ship to enjoy the pool and our beverage package.
We had a cabin with veranda on Deck 8....perfect. Ate dinner in MDR every night and lunches were at buffet.....excellent food, excellent ...
After a bit of confusion trying to locate where to drop off our bags, we headed to the check in area. We got in the queue at 1230 and boarded the ship around 1430. Our bags arrived shortly after we got to our room.
We were in a balcony room towards the front of the ship. We were surprised at how spacious the room felt, we had ample storage including room under the bed to store our suitcases.

Embarking was a breeze because our plan was late (and luggage lost) into Venice. Delta was wonderful in re-routing us and upgrading us to first class when JFK had thunderstorms-- with 10 minutes to spare we caught our plan to Amsterdam and landed in Venice around 4:30 pm. After registering our lost luggage, we caught the Bus and used the people mover to the ship. Walked right onto the ship.
We ...
This was our second Celebrity cruise. We sailed last year on the Eclipse and this being in the same class, there were alot of similarities. The main difference being that the Hot Glass display is not on the top deck - something we enjoyed, especially when I won a lovely vase for free. There are more eating areas where cover charges apply on this boat than the Eclipse. Personally we think the Grand ...
Celebrity knows how to run a cruise line. No long lines, no chaos, lots of organization. Even when using tenders, getting on and off the ship was easy. We only did two Celebrity shore excursions (in Koper and Corfu) and they both featured local guides, which was a plus. In all other ports, we hired private guides with vehicles; this was not only cost-effective, but everything was personalized. We ...
I am celebrating my retirement and have always wanted to see Italy. I took my daughter to give her a vacation. Eleven nights on Silhouette leaving from Venice was just what we needed. The ship was fantastic. Maintained the same high standards as I have always had on Celebrity. My daughter, a first time cruiser, was impressed. From the great food to the drink server that would have her soda ready ...
Initially a fiasco, not sure who really was to blame but British Airways accepted responsibility. Arrived London Heathrow after a 0430 start, found the flight to Venice had been overbooked. An amazingly helpful Celebrity representative was on hand and looked after coach transfers to Gatwick, new flight and arranged compensation from BA. Unfortunately flight to Venice was not until about 1530 ...
The Silhouette is a fine ship with an excellent staff that has a friendly "can-do" attitude. It was sparkling clean, and we never felt crowded even though it was at near-capacity. We were CC-gty on the 10th level, and we enjoyed our cabin and service immensely.
We also found the food top-notch. We ate dinner most nights in the MDR, supplemented with Bistro on 5 (fun for a change of pace). ...
We took this cruise (Venice to Rome) for its itinerary and in that respect we were not disappointed. We were also curious to try the new class of ship and to test the Celebrity standards of food and service which in our experience had declined in the past few years.
Embarkation was OK although the People Mover signs were difficult to find and elevators were defective. Signposting at Venice port ...
We sailed on the Celeb Silhouette on the 4th Sept from Venice, which is an amazing and unique port and I highly recommend anyone to visit this beautiful city and began our tour of the Med taking in some gorgeous ports such as Dubrivnic, Montinegro, Sicily, Malta.. And also some not so nice ones (Corfu, Slovenia)..
The Silhouette is marketed as a 5 star cruise liner, but unfortunately it is ...
