We chose this cruise (10 night Adriatic) because of the itinerary, Venice, Koper, Zadar, Dubrovnik, Kotor, Valletta, Catania and Rome. This was our first cruise with Celebrity, though not new to cruising, having sailed with several cruise lines previously. From start to finish our overall impression was understated excellence, professionalism and service. The Constellation is clearly an old ship, does not have the glitz like other ships but for us this was not an issue, quite the contrary. There was plenty of quality seating, even on the 'sea day' Use of the vast Thalassotherapy pool open to all guests without further cost and despite every cabin being taken there was no feeling of being the vessel being cramped. During the cruise the Master was notified that the Constellation could not berth at Catania, so overnight arrangements were made to tender in Siracusa. Free transport was laid on for those wishing to go to Catania. Having heard the comments from those who visited both it seems that consideration should be given to making Siracusa as the destiny, not Catania. A couple of issues, we chose to arrange flights and hotel stay ourselves, this saved £500 on the Celebrity quote. Celebrity charged $15 per overs on for port to town drop off, all the other cruise lines did this without cost, though charged for other things like premier seating. We found the cost of shore excursions exhorbitive and as such made our own arrangements. Tender to shore arrangements were poor, in Kotor the tender took 30 minutes. Despite somewhat lengthy queues waiting for tenders and preferential tendering for 'preferred guests', no seating was provided for disabled guests. As someone that uses walking aids I found the need for lengthy standing very hard. This was the only blot on what would have been a perfect cruise experience and needs addressing. In short, whilst we still book cruises for the itinerary, if we have the opportunity to sail with Celebrity again we would go without hesitation. Read Less

We chose this cruise as we liked the itinerary. Unfortunately, we didn't get to board the ship in Venice as our flight from Belfast was over 8 hours late! We flew, instead to Dubrovnik which would have been our first port of call, and boarded the ship the following day. We were on a classic drinks package, but could not believe we were charged over $12 for 2 medium bottles of water in our cabin (apparently not included in package???) We were disappointed with a few things on the ship. Firstly, the staff in general were not very friendly, especially in the Oceanview Bar at the rear of the ship, the service was very slow, it seemed there wasn't enough staff on and they didn't seem to care! The exception to this was our cabin steward, he was very friendly and greeted us by name every time he saw us. We could not fault the main dining area The San Marco Restaurant, the food and service were excellent. Entertainment in the theatre was average to say the least. We went to a few shows but were not that impressed. We had pre-booked a couple of excursions, Santorini, and Amalfi Drive & Pompeii. Santorini was very good, the only comment I would make is that we didn't get enough time in Oia. The Amalfi drive was spectacular and the lunch was just ok. Pompeii was very interesting but again it was quite rushed. Disembarkation was very good and well organised. Overall we were expecting a 5* experience, I would give it no more than 4*. Read Less

We went on this cruise which sailed on 28th May which was the first sailing in the year. An earlier cruise before ithe weather got too hot would have been much better - every day the temperature hovered around 27 - 29 degrees. The heat was scorching and combined with the dry shadeless places the ship docked, we found ourselves often staying back on the ship. It looks like the cruise business has not caught on to the reality of global warming - cruises need to be scheduled to sail earlier in the year before the heat gets too intense, and need to have later autumn sailings for people who are not keen to get roasted in the sun for 10 days! Despite passengers having to do lots of pre cruise homework checking-in online and fixing their printed luggage tags which had to be downloaded online, embarkation was a nightmare with piles of people standing in line to ..... do the `real 'check-in?? Obviously there were just not enough counters despite getting passengers to check in at different time slots. However, disembarkation was a breeze. There is no wifi unless passengers buy the ship's expensive wifi package. Hello ... this is 2018...not 1918 !!!!!! Apart from the expensive wifi package, passengers have to pay for drinking water. The water from the cabin tap is a cocktail of clorine and chemicals and is undrinkable. No complimentary bottle of drinking water in the cabin; this is no fine hotel room!! The Oceanview Cafe had the most options in tems of food and dining times, but the staff manning the Cafe need training in handling passengers with more courtesy. Often we felt the service we got at a food counter was similar to that of a fast food outlet. The level of professionalism at the San Marco Restaurant, which was supposed to be more formal, was below what we observed on other cruises.. Perhaps since the ship has done away with the more formal dining the staff feel relaxed enough to cluster together to chit chat when they should be attentive to diners. The ship is well-maintained and the itinerary was good. Koper was beautiful, unspoilt and not mobbed with tourists like Dubrovnik or Naples. Read Less

Itinerary...never been to Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro. Cruise was very tiring if yiu wanted to see all the stops, with only 2 sea days out of the 10 day cruise. Also with our anytime dining at 6:45, we could not participate at the Captains get together for Elite members which was at 7:45 to 8:30. The regular Captains Club get together was fro 5 - 6...dont understand why the Elite get together was also held at 5 - 6. I recall the on other Celebrity cruises each Elite get together was held twice each night one for early dinng and one for late...cost cutting? On a positive side the cabin and dining and wine service were EXCELLENT. The waiter and wine steward could not do enough for you. With one exception we opted for non-ship private excursions since we had a group of seven...no bus and less cost. Worked out very well. The ships tour to Mt Etna had an excellent guide. Also in 2 stops if you dint have a tour it cost $12 to get into town and back...penny pinching !!! Read Less

We flew to Venice night before with Ryanair from East Midlands and was straight on avtco bus from treviso to piazzalle roma bus station. Our hotel olympia was 4 mins walk from bus station situated on lovely quiet canal. We arrived to peaceful and beautiful hotel and sat having drink by canal enjoying lovely venetian cocktails night before cruise. next morning after lovely breakfast with complimentary prosecco we walked back to bus station where peoplemover is situated. 1.50 euro to port took only 5 mins on people mover. great idea takes all stress out of journey. We arrived early about 11.45am and was on ship by 12.15 very quick efficient boarding. We found buffet was best on any of celebrity ships we have been on. It was varied delicious and generally hot. In fact we ate more in buffet than main restaurant as food was so good. we enjoyed San Marco. We preferred to choose large table as one problem was tables for 2 were ridiculously situated. you were closer to stranger than to your partner. This could be sorted out easily by changing angles of tables. wasn't too much of a problem but on night you wanted romantic meal for 2 you would have to eat elsewhere. food and service excellent. We had classic drinks package and was able to sample everything. really enjoyed the choices. The ship is older and initially we were a bit disappointed after sailing on reflection and eclipse. However the charm and friendliness of staff on ship overcame this. We would definitely travel on this ship again. the staff were simply amazing nothing too much trouble. Our cabin was 6031 balcony. very nice room slightly smaller than previous but balcony was huge double size sweet sixteen. During sea days we did not find problem with sunbeds seemed to be plenty. staff policed this very well and immediately removed towels after 30 mins if vacant. The shows were not good. They were very amateurish. We gave up going but as not too bothered as preferred casino or just listening to celebrity bands who were better than Star acts. The entertainment verged on butlins by pool. It was aimed at very young when age group is much older. maybe would suit summer holiday cruises. The cruise director was more interested in talking to her peers than chatting to paying customers. However this did not spoil our overall cruise experience but could for others. The itinerary was amazing. well recommended Venice walked around ourself. amazing. Zadar very pretty did ourselves. just walked around. kotor tendered in. lovely pretty little place. dubrovnik. stayed overnight. plenty to see and do. naples. took ferry next door to ship to capri 20 dollars 50 mins ride. climbed up instead of using funicular was hard work but views amazing. sicily. took celebrity excursion as time tight to taormina. wonderful views. My wife and I chose this Cruise because of the wonderful ports it would visit, ports that we have visited before. We loved the ship Best food yet on a Celebrity cruise. Very professional and responsive waiters. Dadang and Milan ensured our dining experience was second to none. Our cabin attendant was more like a butter, always there responding to any request. Our last dinner however was spoiled by a person not previously encountered who did not allow me entry to the dining room because I was wearing long shorts due to the dress code. Me explanation that I had packed and had my suitcase taken away as requested by 6 before realising that I had packed my dress trousers fell on deaf ears . This marred the entire experience. The entertainment was excellent accept for the choreography of Rock City which was a surprising let down as we had seen and liked it before on a previous cruise. Read Less

Here is my review of the August 28th 10 day cruise to Greece and the Greek Islands. The cruise left from the Veice cruise port. Check in was fast; I was on the ship in 15 minutes. I had an inside cabin that was located at the far end of the front of the ship. Disadvantage was walking to the main dinning room located at the back of the ship. Afte 13 RCCL cruises this was my first time on Celebrity. The ship was an older model but still was well maintained. It had lots of wood touches and updated bars and service areas. We left Venice on the first day for a day at sea. Everyone settled in for a easy day to explore the ship. The ship has three pools; one being the covered solarium with the thesso type pool. The pools were next crowded. There were very few children on board because being a 10 day cruise and the ship had very little to offer children. Off to dinner at 8:45 the first night. My tablemates included two couples from the UK, a pair of ladies from Canada and a couple from Houston, Texas. Being a solo cruiser I felt I would be the outsider. The other couples welcomed me that first night and turns out to have been a great table for conversation. The table service left something to be desired with very slow service all the time of the cruise. We would get our desert at around 10:30 and it left little time to finish and catch the 10:30 show in the main theater. I saw 4 out of the 9 shows this cruise. Mostly singer and dancers. The one great show was a gentleman from the UK that played the saxaphone that was amazing. Because of the the diners finishing late the theater was about half empty every night. First port of call was Olympia, Greece; the site of the first olympics. The site had a museum and an outdoor area. Cost for the site was 12 euros. The town within walking distance of the ruins was small but it did have free WiFi. Next port of call was Santorini. The island was amazing but we had very litle time to really enjoy all it offers. I took a ships excursion that brought you to the top of the volcano to the town of Oia. Because of the number of ships in port the town which is one of the picture postcard places in the Greek islands was very crowded. The small winding streets were packed with tourists. I had lunch at one of themany restaurants that was overpriced but still worth the view. The excursion took us again by bus to a Greek winery for some samples and cheese. Last stop was the town of Fira for the cable car ride down to the ship. There was a long line for getting on the cabke car but considering the views and the town itself it was worth the wait. Some chose to walk the 600 steps down. Our next port was an overnight in Athens. Two days gave everyone to go into the city. I opted for the HoponHopoff bus from the port city of Piraeus. For 20 euros fortwo days it was worth the money. Athens is a very large city with the old and the new all packed into a very small area. The parthenon was my first stop but the crowds prevented me from waiting for a ticket to go to the top. I had lunch in the area of Monastiraki a beautiful section of Athens with outdoor cafes and flea market stands. Back on the bus I headed back to the ship. Second day in Athens I opted to stay on the ship. Next port was Mykonos. It has the look of what ervyone expects a greek island should look like. White and blue small homes and churches dotted the coastline. Again WiFi was available in the local restaurants for free. Next port was Corfu. Being a very large island with the main city of Corfutown; the island had a very different look than the two previous stops. The narrow streets and lots of shops made it iteresting people watching. I had lunch at an outdoor cafe that had the best moussaka dish I have ever had there. If you eat there it is called Aegli; claims to be the oldest restaurant in Corfu. Back on the ship for the final day at sea before returning to Venice I had a chance to photograph the interior of the ship. The ship is beautiful with the old style wood and classic looking decor. I was disapointed in the entertainment available compared to the RCCL Oasis class ships but the cruise director reminded me of how old the ship was and does not have the ability of do all the things an Oasis class ship can do. Ther was no piano bar to sit around; one thing I have enjoyed on RCCL ships. The entertainment consisted of soft rock bands playing in various locations around the ship, trivia games and other cruiser participation games. One thing Celebrity does is have guest speakers come on board. One gentleman gave three talks on the history of Greece and the islands. The second gentleman Ed Buckbee spoke three times on the history of NASA. Ed was around for all of the maned space shots from the Mercury to the Space Shuttles. As a big fan of the space program I had a chance to have breakfast with Ed. He was an amazing speaker telling us all the things about the original seven astronauts that most people never have known. If you are looking for agreat way of visiting Greece and the Greek islands this cruise is for you. The is a lot of walking in the ports and sometimes the cobblestone and marble walkways can be very slippery. Best not to wear flip flops off the ship. Read Less

I am a history fan; I have long wanted to see Greece. This cruise was a great way to scratch the surface. Departing from Venice was an amazing bonus. Cruising down the canal past the city of Venice was incredible and really a great selling point for this specific cruise. Celebrity sold us on their service last January while on board Silhouette. Don't misunderstand Celebrity Constellation is not Silhouette, but it is Celebrity. Celebrity service is far better than any of the other 4 cruise lines we have cruised on. Yes, Constellation is 17 years old, but once you get onboard I just did not see the age. She looked far better than many newer ships (except Silhouette) we've been on. Onboard Experience For us being able to get around ship quickly is important. I think the date of the selection was critical to our experience. As grandparents to 3 boys, we love children; however, we go on vacation to recharge and enjoy ourselves. With this cruise beginning on August 28th, there were few children onboard. We did not have to listen to children running up and down the passageways outside our cabin. Perfect for sleeping late. Our cabin was amidships near the elevators. Perfect for getting to deck 10, quickly. We never had to wait more than 1-2 minutes for an elevator. We lived the fact that we could review our onboard account from our cabin television, daily. We had pretty big plans while ashore, so we did not plan late nights aboard. This does not mean we did not go to the evening shows. I wish I had taken notes on the entertainers who came aboard, but... In any event, we really enjoyed Lorraine Brown and the fact that she performed an evening show and a matinee several days later was great. We did enjoy the onboard singers and dancers. The aerialists were especially good. I believe one show was too much, Elyria (not sure I've spelled it correctly); we found the subject matter offensive/borderline offensive. Ports of Call 3 Sea Days - well needed days to rest 1. Katakolon - Ancient Olympia, shore excursion, interesting, but now I've done it; I won't do it again. 2. Santorini - Wow!!! You anchor in the caldera and the view is amazing. I've read other reviews of complaints about long lines for the cable cars. We never waited longer than one cycle of the cable cars. Walk or ride the donkeys if you want, imho, the smell of donkey urine and feces are a take away from a good cruise (although for some probably great for a good laugh, but not me). We visited Oia, got the Blue Dome shots, and walked as far as you could go. The road to Oia is interesting. Back to Thira (Fira) for quick tour and back to ship for a long, quiet nap. 3. Piraeus (Athens) - 2-days here. The port is 20-30 minutes from downtown Athens. Day 1 - Instead of touring our first day, we took a ferry to the island of Poros (where my brother-in-law grew up). If you get the opportunity, go to Poros. We only spent 4 hours there (ferry trip is about 2 hours round trip), but with the help of my sister's in-laws we had a great opportunity to see the island from a more personal perspective. This island is beautiful. I would come back to Greece just for this! After returning to the ship, we took the Metro to the Athens Plaka district and proceeded to get quite lost. No matter, we walked up to the Acropolis just as the sun was setting and then got lost in the Plaka district. IT was late when we returned to the ship. Day 2 - we had an Athens City Tour with add-on Acropolis tour with Shore Excursions Group. As enough people did not book the trip, four of us were given a virtual private tour of Athens - Perfect! 4. Mykonos - another beautiful location. We were off the ship early for our personal walking tour of Mykonos town. Love it, until later in the morning as the crowds began to build. The windmills and Little Venice are short walks from the tender dock Have lunch or coffee in little Venice, you might meet the local mascot, a pelican walked through the sidewalk cafe as we finished up. 5. Corfu - So many choices for tours, but did not want the long tours out into the island. There is so much history right in Corfu town. We took the shuttle to the terminal and walked out and caught the Hop on-Hop off bus. Corfu town is a small town with small streets and was quite crowded early making for a 20-30 minute ride to Kanoni. At Kanoni, get off and walk 300-400 feet to see and visit Mouse Island (beautiful view) Just across the channel, from Mouse Island, are views of what many believe looks like Capri. Here, you will also view aircraft landing at the island's only airport. BTW, the boat ride to Mouse Island cost 5 Euros round trip for 2; 5-10 minute ride. We left Kanoni and went to the Old Fortress, very impressive; especially when you consider when it was built. If you're up for it walk to the top - it is a long haul, sometimes made worse by people stopping to take photos on the narrow steps. Take your photos from the top, you won't miss anything. Service and Crew The ships crew are amazing. We were always warmly greeted by the crew everywhere we went onboard. Our San Marco dining room servers: Waiter - Widastra, Asst Waiter - Ram, & Sommelier - Susana were wonderfully friendly and warm. In 15 cruises, we have to say they were the best we've ever had. Thank you so much for that. We ate in the Tuscan Grille & can only say, "what's not to enjoy here?" The Tuscan staff were amazing hovering just out of view, but always available in an instant when something was needed. Great! In all of our previous cruises, we probably never had more than a shallow hello from the ships officers. Constellation was vastly different. We were always greeted by ship's officers, including the captain, saying hello, asking how our day was, how we were enjoying the cruise, and if we needed anything to let them know. We experienced this everyday. This is our first experience where our cruise director had anything to say other than a nod or simple hello. On Constellation, the Cruise Director Rich (sorry I did not make note of your last name, but won't ever forget your first name), was amazing. He was everywhere talking with guests. He greeted us as we boarded and he was there to wish us well when we departed at 0745. Thanks, Rich. This type of service is indicative of great management and leadership at the top. From my perspective, that is the Captain. I've been on several other cruises and never had this personal service. Thank you, sir! Embark/Disembark This is only my second Celebrity experience but embarking and disembarking have never been better on any other cruise line I've been on. Because this cruise was sold out, embarking was expected to be timely. We received a text and email indicating what time we would arrive for embarking. We paid no attention to this and boarded, as we were ready. Within a few minutes, we had our photos taken and were onboard. Disembarking went just as well. Unbelievably, we packed only carry-on luggage (took advantage of ships laundry) for 2-weeks in Italy and Greece. When it was time to leave, we left our cabin, early (we had an early train to Rome to catch) waited no more than 10-15 minutes and we were off and on our journey to Rome. Read Less

We decided on the Jet Set Sail package. Really excellent service etc leaving from stanstead, but do think more could be done with regards to transfers in venice. Boarding went well, as includes priority boarding. Booked concierge class cabin, we had sailed with celebrity before and always chose this catagory We found the constellation an excellent choice. The recent refurb showed in the cabin and in other areas and we werent disappointed. The service, food and crew were all excellent. The only complaint we had was the groups of children that were allowed to run round the ship and in the bars at night. We witnessed verbal abuse from some of them when challenged by the crew and celebrity need to correct this. All ports of call around the greek islands were first class and disembarkation into the ports was swift and efficient. The restaurant staff were faultless and couldnt do enough for us. On return to venice, again the Jet Set Sail package was sadly lacking and the coach we were transferred in had major engine problems and we really thought we wouldnt even get to the airport. Marco Polo airport was chaos, definitely need more than the customary 2 hours prior to departure. But all in all a really great cruise and looking forward to travelling with celebrity again next year, keep up the good work. Read Less

We chose this cruise because of the great itinerary especially the overnight stays in Dubrovnik and Malta. We had sailed on Celebrity Constellation many years ago and had fond memories. The ship still fits my choice of a traditional mid sized ship but the service was often mediocre and the class distinction has spoilt the happy relaxed feeling a cruise should have. The recent upgrades are attractive especially in the Reflections Lounge where we remember on a previous cruise enjoying a pre dinner cocktail, but on this cruise it was closed every evening at 5pm so the "elite" class guests could have exclusive occupancy, and several times during the afternoon it was closed for private functions. The staff were often very rude about clearing the lounge. We were also disappointed with the live entertainment in the lounges which was very minimal and almost never appropriate for the age of the large majority of guests. The only performance in the theatre that we enjoyed was Jayne Curry. The food and service in the main dining room was very good and we looked forward to it each evening. However, the same could not be said for the Oceanview Cafe, and we were not surprised by the outbreak of norovirus considering the state of cleanliness of the crockery and cutlery. The day before the announcement, I pointed out to a staff member that I had discarded 10 cups before I had found a clean one. We were "lucky " to avoid the virus, and for me the negative aspects could be pushed to the background, but not so for my husband. Read Less

We spent four days in Milan prior to the cruise to visit Lake Como which was beautiful. We took the train to Venice to meet up with our cruise. That was the only confusing part, getting from the train station, the to the port, the people mover, walking through a long parking lot to finally find the ship. We had a special price with Celebrity for a "guaranteed" oceanview room, and we were not disappointed. We were midship in 2097, and very pleased. I tend to get seasick if I am too high up in the ship, so this worked well for me. This was the second cruise since the Constellation had come out of dry dock for upgrades, and the ship was looking very nice. As far as the room was concerned the carpet was new, but the bathroom did not appear to have had renovations done. Most of the public areas were sparkling new though. We ate at the 6:15 Main Dining Room, and the food was exceptionally good, but the service was slow. The first night we were just getting our dessert at about 8:20 PM and the next seating was for 8:30 PM. They asked us if we could come at 6:00 PM the rest of the nights, and we agreed. It was some better, but slower than other Celebrity ships. We did hear that the ship was short about 150-200 employees. The Enertainment was good, and we never had a difficult time finding a seat to enjoy the show. There was the usual, musical fare, magical show, comedian, dancers and singers. We did participate in a Celebrity shore excursion at each of the ports and were pleased with all of the them with the exception of the Island of Capri, $144. On that one the guide pretty much left us on our own most of the time, and then suggested a certain restaurant to go to for lunch. We all went in and sat down to order lunch as the town was so crowded, and lunch without alcohol ended up costing $100 Euros. I thought that was too much for a small plate of pasta, and should not be a place that the guide is sending everyone to without a warning. In Sicily we took an excursion called Beautiful Taormina and Blue Grotto and it was wonderful. We walked throughTaomina, had a "typical Sicilian" breakfast, and then took a boat ride near a town called Giardina Naxos and saw the Blue Grotto. Well worth the day and the $159.00 Read Less

We chose this cruise firstly because it was terrific value for the money 2nd for the ports it was visiting 3rd because it was Celebrity and they are always on top of the game. The embarkation was in Venice and went smoothly we were soon on board drinking bubbly and being introduced to all the amenities the ship had to offer.Constellation is one of older ships in fleet but did not look it, everything was spotless. The crew from captain to the cleaners were all very good and all ways had a smile for you, service in the restaurants was excellent nothing to much trouble for them never an empty glass!!The food and choice was some of the best we have seen on any of the cruises we have been on,the only disappointment was the replacement of the creperie on five to sushi on five but it's a personal thing. Entertainment in the theatre was spectacular the shows were on par with anything you would see in London or NewYork, all the other groups and singers were very professional and very entertaining in and around the bars and public places throughout the day.All the ports of call had numerous excursions you could go on but we only did one ,that was the Amalfi coast trip it was amazing .Most ports Celebrity laid on courtesy buses to city centres to do your own thing.Would we go again with Celebrity? Most certainly was the fourth time and soon to be a fifth. Read Less

We love cruising & find Celebrity meets our preferences well. Staff are caring, helpful & fun. Food is excellent & shows are usually very good, especially production casts. Places visited were pretty & interesting. By way of criticism, we were on this ship 5 years ago & despite a refit found its finish was dark & not as bright as other ships in the fleet. We were disappointed that prices are noticeably increased & costs are being cut. The programme of events from Oct'2015 shows twice as many daily activities as Oct'2016. Bar staff tips are now 18%! Menu choices are reduced, eg. only two new dessert options at dinner now. Excursion prices are too high. Pay per view movies on tv are $15, exorbitant! Many 'discounted' sales goods (special offers) are cheap & of poor standard. New policy to offer 2nd passenger half price conceals overall increase! So, changes deserve to be criticised. The company needs to reconsider. However, it is still a great holiday experience. We have already booked our next cruise on the Reflection in 2017. Thank you for opportunity to raise these issues. This was our 5th cruise with Celebrity and we chose this cruise for the itinerary. Unfortunately their standards have dropped dramatically and from the minute you step on board you are constantly bombarded with upgrading your drinks passage, booking speciality dining and booking another cruise. Anything to get your money! Embarkation went smoothly and our balcony stateroom was very clean but definitely the worse for wear. Torn valance sheet, shabby curtains and cracked tiles in shower room. The wear and tear was evident throughout the ship but it is all very clean. The staff never seem to stop cleaning from morning until night and they are always so cheerful and pleasant. The food in the ocean view self service was okay but nothing was ever hot . We used the burger bar once and have to say that it was delicious. The real problem was the main dining room. Oh my goodness it was not good! Beef so tough it was inedible. Our table attendants were superb and so attentive and I did feel embarrassed at continually returning food but I was certainly not the only one. Again the food wasn't hot enough, Overall it was very poor. We didn't go on any of the ship's excursions as they are very overpriced, preferring to do our own thing. I do feel it is wrong that Celebrity are now charging for taking you from the ship into the town - $12 or $15 each depending on length of journey. The entertainment was very good and we went each evening to the theatre then enjoyed listening to whichever group was playing in the lounge. My friend and I had a game of bingo - $31!! Total rip-off! Overall I was disappointed in the cruise. We travelled with friends and had told them that the sai away from Venice would be spectacular with lovely music as the ship sails down the Grand Canal. What did we get? Absolutely nothing. Lots of people remarked on this and had been looking forward to the big sail away. The cruise was not worth the money we paid and I would not recommend Celebrity to anyone. They are certainly not 5*! I think it's time to try another cruise line and, after speaking to others on the ship, I don't think I will be the only one. Read Less

We (wife and I) are Celebrity loyalists - elite in Captain's club. This cruise - Adriatic and Italy - was our tenth on Celebrity after a break of four years. Our first was in 1972 on Galaxy. Celebrity had a well-deserved reputation of offering medium price cruises but well above average in dining and service. No longer. The menu in the main dining room has been reduced from five to three courses, the first labeled as 'starters'! The menu was rarely better than downtown hotel standard. The quality was variable - they are certainly no longer buying the best meat. The main dining room should be 'fine dining': steak and chips might be found in a road side diner but not appropriate here Deserts down to a choice of two very non-descript items - I fully expected to see carrot cake and brownies one night. Celebrity seems to have reduced its staffing. Our dining room staff were as good as ever but elsewhere the strain of overwork showed. Gloomy, non-conversational. In the lounges too few staff at peak times. Concierge cabins - as good as ever. Our attendant could not do enough to please. Embarkation and debarkation superlative. If Celebrity has chosen to compete on price with Fred Olsen or Saga, then good luck to them. But we expect better. And our views are not unique - chance conversations with other Celebrity 'old hands' - never again! Good bye! Read Less

The ports were fabulous, and the price was good! This was our first visit to the Dalmarion Coast! The ship was clean in public areas and staff helpful and friendly. Didn't attend celebrity theatre. Food at dinner was very good, service was excellent! Room was kept clean except for the bathroom, the floor and bathroom needed bleach and scrubbing. The room attendant was very personable and friendly, did his job well. The room 3067 was quiet and fairly close to the elevator. The buffet cafe on the 10th floor was tasty and adequate for breakfast. Other than the old dirty bathroom our stay was comfortable. The ship needs to redo or deep clean the bathroom. Also the chair in the room had a stained fabric so I put a clean towel on it. I would have been more comfortable in a cleaner room, bit didn't think to complain at the time. Read Less

City stay of 4 days in Venice was wonderful. Well worth the price. This was great way to start our holiday. Excursions were included in the price. They had us at a very nice Hilton, right on a canal. We should have asked for a better room as ours faced an inside courtyard. Breakfast at the hotel was very good. The ship was very clean, staff and entertainment very good. For us to see the 7pm show, we simply skipped dessert and had it later. There was an odd way of doing dinner thou, as you had to sign up each night for the next night. Would have been 5 stars but the disembarkation was a horror. The buses going to Venice airport could not go to the terminal. We were all let off in a parking lot. They did provide luggage carts, but you had to push your own cart up to the terminal and no staff offered directions. Worse for us as it was raining, I guess the staff wanted to get out of the rain. Embarkation in Venice took only 15 minutes max. Boarded ship about 1pm & cabins ready by 1.30pm. Had sailed on Equinox last year so a bit disappointed by interior of ship especially cabin which was tired & need of update. The itinerary was great especially Dubrovnik & Kotor which were absolutely stunning ports of call. We only dined in MDR on select dining option. The level of service was excellent no matter which table we sat at and the girl on reception Tijana was so helpful and professional in all her dealings with passengers a real asset to Celebrity. The Maitre D Hugo was also great & helped us sort out tables for friends we met on the cruise. The quality of food in the MDR was good with some very tasty cuts of meat. The entertainment staff were energetic & good fun during the day and proved themselves to be good quality singers, dancers& aerialists by night. The shows on this cruise were superior to the Equinox. The Captain was a STAR so interactive with the passengers and such fun. One would book a cruise just to experience his sense of humour again. I handed in my feedback card (by mistake) a few days prior to disembarkation & mentioned a few issues regarding the tired look of cabin. The following morning the head of housekeeping arrived at the door & wanted to sort out the re- grouting of shower cubicle, recovering of sofa bed etc to our satisfaction. I was very impressed. The staff really want to ensure that customers are satisfied. The cleanliness of cabin & public areas was good. I would have liked mattresses on all the sun loungers as opposed to a few. I also had a very good experience with a supervisor during the the booking process (after an initial disappointing experience) this proves to me that Celebrity have really improved their focus on customer satisfaction levels. We Disembarked at 7am as we had made our own transport arrangements. This was straightforward and very quick. Read Less
