"If this slowed service down when the ship was a third full, I wonder how much worse it will be when every cabin is occupied.I think the package paid for itself but unless you enjoy happy hour, wine with your meals and a nightcap or two it definitely isn’t worthwhile...."Read More

Just an amazing experience.

Took the Alaskan inside passage cruise with Holland America line as part of a larger Canada vacation. This was a vacation held over from 2020. We had a fantastic time on the Zuiderdam and the entire cruise went smoothly. Firstly, Holland America and our travel agent honoured the 2020 prices, including a drinks package which gave us a considerable saving on the current prices. We were also ...

Wonderful experience for us as inexperienced cruisers.

Although we have travelled internationally often, we had only previously taken one cruise on Princess to the Caribbean years ago. Covid travelling restrictions left us eager to try something different. As Canadians, we figured that taking a cruise from Vancouver, B.C. would be easiest for us, so we flew from Toronto area to Vancouver the day before our July 6th, 2022 departure for 7 day inside ...

HAL Alaska-Yukon land-cruise disappoints at many levels

As experienced cruisers on HAL and in Alaska, we looked forward to the 19-day land cruise starting in Vancouver on the Zuiderdam for three nights with 9 days crossing from Skagway through the Yukon to Denali and reboarding the Nieuw Amsterdam for a 7 day southbound cruiseincluding Glacier Bay. Seemed well designed . But HAL did not consider that most of the travelers were over 60 and expected ...

Fabulous cruise on the Zuiderdam

We booked this cruise in March, right after cancelling a European cruise on Osterdam that was to leave June 1st. We were anxious about rising covid numbers and different protocols for the countries on the itinerary, not to mention flying Toronto to Barcelona and spending 2 days there before the cruise plus 2 days in Venice post cruise. There were just too many "what ifs". We had been to Alaska ...

This ship was part of the package we booked. Overall it was great, food and drink service was pretty good. The excursions left a little to be desired - one of our three was amazing (the most expensive), the other two were a major disappointment and not worth the money at all. The dog-sledding and helicopter trip was fantastic, yes it was expensive but, to me, well worth the money. The other ...

We chose this cruise due to Holland America's reputation in Alaska ( The park service prefers Holland America), the price ( super low) and because we had sailed on the Z dam 18 years ago... The crew was amazing. Knew our names after only a few days, dealt with difficulties ( excursions cancelled due to illness of guides) solved our minor problems and treated us like honored guests. Plenty ...

We have enjoyed previous holidays with HAL and were anxious to get back cruising after two years stuck at home. As we prefer not to fly, a trip out of Vancouver was very convenient. The price was reasonable for a balcony cabin and we opted for the Have It All package. The pre-cruise requirements were a bit of a hassle (Covid testing, ArriveCan and VeriFly documentation) and a lot of people seemed ...

From start to finish everything was perfect. We are a couple in our 60s who cruise semi regularly and this is our second cruise to Alaska. Our first being on a Princess cruise. Embarkation was a breeze as we had completed all of our required apps. from entering the cruise terminal to being on the ship was 10 mins and that is because that is how long it takes to walk through the various ...

Wasn't sure about this ship by the reviews here...I would say having lived it, its average to the ten-ish others I’ve been on. It has its good and its not so good like any ship I've been on. We flew to Vancouver day of the cruise and made our way to the port using the ships transfer easily. Slight delay in getting our cabin keys but with a special note we were on and to our cabin in no time. We ...

We had a most disappointing cruise on the Zuiderdam. Firstly we were given Cabin 4034, a balcony which had a solid steel plate from the railing to the floor. Vision from the tired balcony furniture was nil. Next the food was VERY poor and barely warm. I got food poisoning from the shrimp cocktail and/or crab cakes. My husband decided that they couldn't stuff up cooking a steak. Wrong! His medium ...
