Great Trip

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Viking Orion

We chose this cruise because we had credits from a cancelled European river cruise that was scheduled during Covid. Alaska seemed like a safer bet at the time we had to make a decision for our itinerary. Before the trip I wasn't overly excited about it, but the cruise turned out to be very enjoyable and enlightening. Viking offers exceedingly professional yet friendly service by its employees. ...

My husband and I sailed on the Viking Orion to Alaska on July 10, 2023. The ship is beautiful and so clean! The service was impeccable in all aspects of the ship. The food was excellent. We ate most of our meals in The Restaurant and ordered room service many times for breakfast which was always served promptly, and the order was always complete with hot and cold food. For a buffet, the World Cafe ...

Senior leadership were wonderful. Wait staff was great. Customer service agents on board could improve. Loved the restaurant. Did not care for the Chefs table menu. Manfedis restaurant was good. A little disappointed with excursion description on a few of them. The whale watch we thought would be more informational as described in literature versus being taken out to the middle of water and ...

The ship is very nice. Viking does a good job with the entertainment and education opportunities. Rooms are very nice. Common gathering areas are excellent. The food is good ... and sometimes great. All Viking staff are friendly and professional. Most of the excursions are excellent. Alaska is amazing. Would highly recommend kayaking around a glacier, see the Iditarod dogs, fishing for ...

Lovely cruise

We did this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. Viking was great in helping us celebrate with a lovely bottle of champagne and a cake at dinner in Manfredi restaurant. We greatly appreciate both gestures. We were somewhat disappointed in the included shore excursions but this was probably due to the itinerary and weather. Enjoyed the food in most venues. The food in the pool area left ...

We chose this trip to enjoy the beauty of AK, from the water. The facilities, per usual, were very very nice. Staff was professional and courteous. The onboard scholars, Drs. Smith and Eyers were spectacular, Very, very knowledgeable and engaging. There was a gentleman, M. Hick, who spoke of AK Native heritage, etc. He was very disappointing in that he read from the slides and ...

I had not seen the inner passage of Alaska. I also wanted to experience a Viking Ocean cruise. I have done Viking European River cruises previously. The ship is beautiful, and I am happy to have had the experience. Alaska is definitely worth seeing - the glaciers and history are two good reasons. The entertainment on the ship was very good, both the shows, and the lectures. We had ...

Alaska - Started rough but smoothed out

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Viking Orion

I am a Viking Oceans person. I love the serene nature of the ships and the maturity of the passengers. The ship is spotlessly clean and their employees are indefatigably cheerful. I won't go on another cruise line. This cruise started out rough when we heard (ahead of time) that we couldn't board until 5:30 due to port issues in Vancouver. Viking took care of us but it did mean that over ...

Alaska & the Inside Passage with Land Excursion

Excellent trip, accommodations were great and the dining was exceptional. The Chef's Table and Manfredi's dinners were excellent; the dinners at the Restaurant were very good. Having real good weather during the cruise was a bonus - we were very fortunate to take in all of the great views. The excursions were a mixed bag, in the sense that some expectations were not met. For example, we were ...
