My husband and I decided that for our yearly "Mom and Dad need alone time" trip, we would go on a short cruise WITHOUT the kids (for once). We flew into Vancouver, and stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel, which was right on top of the pier. We stayed on the club floor, and it was lovely.
Boarding the Pearl was a little bit rough, as there were 3 ships leaving that day, and ours was the only one ...
I liked the freestyle that Norwegian offered. The restaurants were good and the specialty were great. All the employees were friendly and some learned our names quickly which was nice. The embarkation in Vancouver was too long but that was the ports doing. They had a new computer system and new employees. We enjoyed seeing the officers visiting with the passengers. The entertainment was very ...
My cruise was fantastic. I can't say enough. I cruised with a friend with limited mobility. Every staff member we met couldn't help her enough. Two days before we left for the cruise an outsell offer to a two bedroom suite was sent. We accepted, of course. The biggest thing was that it had two bathrooms. Great for two women. This was a first cruise for both of us and might be the only one ...
We let NCL handle all of our travel. It took over 2 hours after we landed in Vancouver to get on the bus to the port. Then customs went as smoothly as most customs stops. After that we were herded into a room of folding chairs because NCL couldn't get people checked in. After over an hour they started taking row by row but when they got to our row they announced everyone could go. Being old ...
aReview of Norwegian Pearl - 10 night Alaskan Cruise, May 5, 2016
Just back from this 10 day cruise and thought I would share my experience to help future travellers.
Embarkation (Vancouver) - If you fly in to Vancouver and are going straight to the peer, take the SkyTrain. Goes directly to the port from the airport for $9 Cdn pp, the easiest transfer I have ever done. Once at the port, ...
Departure City: Vancouver. There is so much to see and do. After booking this cruise, we took a separate vacation months before to explore Vancouver. If you have a few extra days, be sure to visit Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Grouse Mountain, and Stanley Park.
Embarkation: This did not go smoothly. First cruise of the season and we waited hours to board the ship. After we were finally ...
This was our first cruise and we really enjoyed it. You cannot beat the breathtaking beauty of Alaska. We also lucked out with unusually warm weather for this time of year. The ship is starting to show some age. The embarkation seemed to take an unacceptable amount of time according to other cruisers we talked to while standing in line. We had an ocean view cabin and the size and view were ...
We were going to take this cruise 10 years ago and couldn't so we were thrilled when the stars aligned and we were able to do 20 days from Vancouver to Miami for a full transit of the Panama Canal. We are 68, mobile, don't drink. This is our 30th cruise, 20 with NCL. We stayed at the Pan Pacific in Vancouver and had wonderful service including complimentary BMW rides to the pier.
Embarkation ...
We were on the May 7th to 17th sailing aboard the NCL Pearl to Alaska and really enjoyed it. This was my 10th cruise, (2nd with NCL) and my husband's 7th, (1st with NCL). We arrived in Vancouver, BC a day ahead and stayed at the Century Plaza Hotel and Spa. It was about a 30 minute cab drive in traffic from the airport to the hotel. The cab was $31.00 which we were told is a flat rate for all cabs ...
This was our first cruise on Norwegian, after sailing with Carnival, Princess and Celebrity. We walked away impressed with the food, fabulous staff and activities.
Food: We were impressed by the variety and quality of the meals in the free establishments: Indigo and O'Sheehan's and have no inputs on the fee restaurants. The only negative were the disappointing desserts. Think Norwegian Pearl ...
