picked this cruise because of start and finish in Vancouver rather than flying one way. 99% of passengers were retired, staff were very attentive, dining menus were varied. went to Rudy's Sel De Mer one evening , the meal was excellent as was the waitress, only fault was that we felt rushed when the entree came minutes after the appitisers. After asking the waitress to slow down dessert came when we wanted it. cabin 6085 was a signature suite with tub and shower stall, the hot water control and the shower diverter in the tub was not working when we boarded but was fixed shortly after telling stateroom attendant. embarking and disembarking was a breeze. Our luggage was at our cabin within an hour of boarding. overall the cruise was great, weather to and from Hawaii was not good. i would recommend Holland America. in fact we are doing a transpacific cruise on the Noordam. I chose this cruise because my Mom and I wanted to go to Hawaii. Mom has travelled a lot and doesn't want to fly anymore, so we choose cruises that leave and return to Vancouver B.C. The embarkation and disembarkation went very smoothly. The Star Princess is very well appointed. We had an inside cabin. The beds were very very comfortable with the new Princess Luxury mattresses and pillows. I would like to have had more than one chair in the room though. We chose the 5:15 dining in the Portofino restaurant. The food was fabulous. I'm vegetarian and was pleased with the tasty offerings each night. The desserts were out of this world! The servers were very friendly and efficient. The entertainment was outstanding in the Princess Theater and the lounges. We were frustrated at the difficulty finding seats though. My Mom uses a walker. We had to go to the theater an hour before the early show started in order for her to get a seat. The first show was at 7:45 and the second show was at 9:45. The latter is too late for my mom. There were many people left standing or turned away from the first shows. The events in the Piazza were fun and entertaining if you were lucky enough to find a seat or were willing to stand.I participated in the Ukulele lessons each sea day and in the concert at the end of the cruise. That was a lot of fun. Tiki Dave and Leialoha were a wonderful addition to the cruise with their Hawaiian music and ukulele and hula lessons. We did a wonderful shore excursion through Princess to the Polynesian Cultural Centre on Oahu. On the other 3 islands we rented a car and went snorkeling and to the Volcanoes National Park. In all it was a wonderful cruise and a good sampling of Hawaii. I would love to go again. Read Less

Sailed Princess 9 times including our honeymoon and one year anniversary on Star Princess. Never once we're we disappointed with staff or entertainment. We made so many new Princess extended family members with passengers and staff. Clouds could not dim our last 15 Hawaiian cruise. We just missed hurricane that hit the island. Capri dinning and chef's table was amazing, thrilled with all the seafood selections. Wine tasting and wine selection was wonderful. We loved the culinary comedy show featuring the chef and kitchen staff. Singers from different wait staff were talented and entertaining. Also the brought on board children's Hawaiian dancers to perform for passangers with was spectacular and a favourite feature on this cruise for us. We started our art auction experience on board thrilled at their arts staff and their professionalism and out going personalities. We booked our next cruise for October on board and look forward to many more with Princess. Read Less

Every staff member was exemplary, there were enough staff members to provide service in every area, and service was consistent everywhere. The ship was well-maintained and very clean. We loved, loved, loved Movies Under the Stars where each night we would watch a first-run movie with popcorn and blankets on deck loungers. There was entertainment to fit every taste and performers were all top-notch, as was the cruise director staff. The food was just excellent, and there were wonderful food venue options like the buffet, pool deck pizzeria and burger place, ice cream parlour, and bars all over the ship with different ambiences to suit anyone and everyone. Princess excursions were excellent and the guides were excellent. We learned something every day, whether on board or on the excursions. I forgot my Kobo and made use of the onboard library, which was great. The shops were great and I found things to bring back for family and friends on the ship. Embarkation and disembarkation was unbelievably efficient. The whole cruise exceeded expectations. Read Less

We choose this cruise because it was leaving from our home city and because it was going to Hawaii. We were looking for a resting and relaxing voyage and we had just that! We throughly enjoyed our criuse. Ship was as expected. Cabin was functional, love the spacious wardrobe! —our place to sleep. Dining was exceptional! We dined at the Amalfi which was great thanks to the dynamic duo of Alvin and Gede. They were the best! Entertainment was great we throughly enjoyed all the shows, comediens and singers. The house band was just great!!! The singers/band at the Explores louge were great! Service was great. Front desk were professional, friendly and ready to help! Ports were functional and shore excursions were did well organized with no confusion or long waits. We are planning to do this cruise again! Loved the sea days. Only negatives were the foul odor in some of the corridors, and the sales pressure. There is a difference in providing the customer with the complete solution to making them feel like they are obligated. My husband and i did the couples massage to relax and and unwind. The massage was great however the pressured sales after the massage was not so much. I now know what to expect so when we cruise again i will be more prepared. My husband would definitely domthis cruise again. Read Less

First time to Vancouver, on Norwegian, and to Hawaii for our 25th wedding anniversary. I highly recommend this cruise and itinerary; It was a grand slam for those following October baseball right now. Embarkation a little slow but the disembark was VERY efficient and smooth. (Though we really didn't want to leave!) Entertainment was the best we have ever experienced on a cruise ship. Loved our ocean balcony cabin and room. Dining was outstanding particularly in the specialty restaurants Cagney's, Moderno Churrascaria (Brazilian Steakhouse), and Le Bistro. Weaker links were the Italian specialty dining (not the food per se but the menu) and O'Sheehans, though I liked the atmosphere in the latter especially for watching Sunday NFL football. The service on the ship everywhere was good to outstanding and we liked very much the different themed bars. We only did one of the Norwegian shore excursions, The Road to Hana Deluxe, and that was magnificent and informative. We went on other island excursions on our own or with other tour groups we contracted with once off the boat. We loved them all - in some cases we got better bargains. Rented a car to Laihana the second day in Maui and enjoyed it without being committed to being on a bus all day. Spent time in Honolulu afterward and did our own tours including Pearl Harbor. We will definitely go back to Vancouver, to Hawaii (we added a timeshare to our existing one stateside!), and very much look forward to cruising again on Norwegian. Though once you do this particular cruise, you will realize 5 days at sea in the Pacific is a bit much to repeat a second time through. We wished they had an indoor pool and thank God we got the spa plan which overlooked the ocean and was VERY relaxing. When we go back, I think we will just do a Hawaii tour and schedule a Vancouver BC / Calgary Banff Canadian trip as a separate vacation. Still, it is more than worth experiencing once. Thank you, Norwegian! Read Less

Best Cruise Ever. Cabin # 8008. This was a 10 day cruise. My 6th cruise with NCL. Best food. Best drinks. Best shows. Weather was a bit hit and miss. I love cruising. I think NCL does a great job. Some people like to complain about anything and everything! I prefer to see the glass " half full " . I think it is really important to treat each cruise as a separate event, and not to lump all the ships, staff, etc., into one big category. In a perfect world, I would like to see a NON smoking ship. The Casino, stinks. The pool deck can smell smokey as well. I would prefer some fans in the gym, as it gets stuffy. I also think that more and more people are abusing food on cruises. I cannot see how some people can eat and waste so much food. But, some things are NONE of my business ! Read Less

October 3rd we embarked on a journey from Vancouver to Hawaii on the Norwegian Jewel. It was a special milestone for us, our 40th wedding anniversary. We wanted to experience a special vacation for a special event. We were not disappointed. There were only two things I would say bothered me a little. The embarkation process in Vancouver was not very organized and even though we were booked in the Haven, I did not feel the process lived up to the hype of getting on the ship as a "Haven" couple. The second part was the nickel and timing with drinks and coffee on board. I received an unlimited drink package but still I was told that I would be charge a small difference on some drinks and I had to pay for cappuccinos. Really??? I only had a couple of specialty drinks over the 10 days that demanded an extra charge, it amounted to maybe $25 above and beyond what I paid, and I paid quite a bit. My question is "why?" If you need it so bad, charge me an extra $100 and I won't have to worry about signing a chit. I feel the same way about the coffee. Cruise lines, learn from the All Inclusive resorts and include everything in a premium package. It is a nuisance. Now for what I really liked! The staff, the entertainment, the food, the room. A special thank you to Bowen, our concierge. He is professional, warm, friendly and extremely helpful. He focuses on the people he is dealing with at the moment and that to me is the sign that he cares about the people he is assisting. He is not looking at the next person in line, he talks and listens to the people in front of him. He is quick to get answers and actions completed. He made the trip fantastic. Bernadette - our housekeeper- worked tirelessly and long hours. She definitely is a special employee. Rex the Butler also was so helpful and accommodating. Our anniversary was at sea on October 8th and they each played a very important part in making the day special. I cannot forget to mention James, the host in the Haven. He was truly a wonderful person. Not bothering you but attentive and made you feel that he really was glad that we were there. The buffet, we kept away from. The food looked good but we just wanted to be served. My wife definitely deserved that after 40 years of taking care of 3 men in the house. The restaurants were fantastic though. Our favourites were the Le Bistro (Saldy was a great waiter.) Lamb was incredible! The Argentinian restaurant- Moderno's had unbelievable dinners- soo tasty Cagney's, Cucina, Chin Chin also rounded things out for us. As mentioned before, we upgraded our room to the Haven. I could not ask for anything more. Our cabin was in the front of the ship. One Balcony was overlooking the bow of the ship and our other balconies were more protected on the side. We are spoiled! If you have a special event, select these rooms if you are able.Lots of room, we felt very comfortable. The entertainment was top notch. On previous cruises we have taken, we left sometimes halfway through the shows. Not here- Landry was a comedian that performed a couple of times, Great act. The musical groups were awesome.- Fire and Ice and Temperature. Excursions were great, we loved the whole experience. Thank you Norwegian and the Jewel staff for making our 40th a trip to remember! Loved this cruise ex Vancouver/return. 15 days of relaxation. Wasn't sure how the 5 cruise days to Hawaii would be. It was wonderful!! In fact if we had to stay on for longer days before reaching the islands, that would have been great!! 4 days - 4 islands was tougher than I thought it would be, but honestly 1 day in each port was enough. Truthfully, I could do without the big island all together and not be disappointed. The 5 days back were just as relaxing as the first 5 days. Sea days both ways were great as always lots to do. The cruise director JC and his wonderful assistant cruise members were awesome. Aris, Emily, Kevin, Jess and Jody "with a Y" were fabulous. Would not hesitate to do again in the near future. Ship in need of some cosmetic repairs as showing her age a bit. Love the size of the Star Princess. Everyone really does feel like "family" on this ship. Read Less

Once again, Celebrity provided top quality, top service and a great experience. From cabin steward, Dominic to our wait staff Ian and Vincent to Debbi the Event Coordinator and Josef, the Concierge everyone was very professional; service oriented and provided excellent service. The main dining room: excellent service for our large group. Wait staff, Ian and Vincent were exemplary. From remembering each cruisers drink request to special requests for "back pillows" for shorter legged women; our menu selections were varied, from fish to filet to lobster. Great selection. Cafe au Bacio: Variety of coffees and pastries. Spa service: easy to make reservation and great service. Ice Bar/Martini bar: We met up with a bartender, Yodi, whom we had met on the Equinox two years prior. Bartenders were entertainers while serving a mass of cruisers each and every day! Stores/shops on board: Usual variety if merchandise, They were selling all Alaska items at discounted rate since we were headed towards Hawaii. Photos: Finally, they have stopped printing photos! The kios where you swipe your sea pass cards were easy to use and after viewing photos, you could delete those you did not want. Read Less
