My husband and myself are seasoned cruisers - having cruised both the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, the Mediterranean and Caribbean. We've cruised on some of the most beautiful, largest, newest and much of everything in between as far as ships go. Having read the cruise critic reviews concerning the older ship, the Norwegian Jewel - at first we were hesitant to book, but ...

Getting to the port was easy as it was just a cab ride from home... Okay maybe not so easy as it was during the week and traffic was a still an issue. Not to mention that I was blessed with a cabbie that made me regret not having taken out travel insurance. But eventually Mario got me to the Port of Vancouver safe and sound. Going through immigration I saw that fellow friends and cruisers were ...

Having cruised mostly on NCL over the past 10 years,we wanted to try different cruise lines to see for ourself's how they compare. HAL is the last cruise line for us to try. We enjoyed all our cruises and find things we like and things we don't like with all the cruise lines. This HAL cruise was on the Zuiderdam. It was chose based on the minimum days off and that it arrived back at our home port ...

Arrived at the Port of Vancouver extra early for our one-night repositioning cruise to seattle. We have learned our lesson from previous one-night cruises. They call it 'Black Saturday'. Four large ships in port at the same time. Although there is a bit of disorganization, the staff did their best. We were told our ship was late in disembarking, and actually departed late. Vancouver is an ...

Having sailed Norwegian, Princess, and Royal Caribbean, wanted to try Holland America and the one night cruise fit into our schedule. We had booked an interior, but after prices dropped they allowed us to upgrade to a verandah suite for only $20 more, which I appreciated. Embarkation was quick as the ship was half empty. The stateroom was large and comfortable with a great bathroom with tub and ...

Booked the 1 day Pacific Coastal Cruise for my friend and I mid April. We are both first time cruisers. Embarkation - NIGHTMARE, gangway problems at the port caused major backup. 3 ships were embarking at one time (Coral, Sapphire and a Holland American ship) We got at the port at 1:50 and didn't get on the ship until 4:10. Ship - The Sapphire Princess is in very good shape. Very clean and ...

We took this cruise to upgrade our Captain's Circle status. This is our third cruise on Sapphire Princess (Australia, Alaska) and it is our favorite ship and feels like home. We have now had balcony, oceanview and interior staterooms. Princess upgraded us to a higher deck but stateroom was midships adjacent to the stacks - didn't bother me but some might prefer a different location. Embarkation ...

This was a "repositioning" cruise - Started in Vancouver, B.C., with stops in Astoria, Oregon, San Francisco, and ending in Los Angeles. My husband & I were looking forward to the "freestyle" cruising - we're not into getting dressed up for dinner while we're on vacation. We've previously cruised on Holland America & Royal Caribbean. So "freestyle" means that you don't have to dress up for ...

I'm posting this review to give people an idea of what to expect on HAL cruises to nowhere, which are rare for the line.  I took the cruise as simply a special way to celebrate my 40th birthday.  I took the train from Seattle, spent two days at the Vancouver Westin being pampered in luxury and booked the Zaandam to return to Seattle.  The ship was not full, in fact there were only about 300 pax ...

We cruised for 2 nights from Vancouver - Seattle this past weekend.Overall it was a fun time, but I didn't fall in love with NCL. I have previously been on a 4 night Carnival Cruise (not a great cruise for a mom/daughter and didn't know at the time) and a 7 day Disney Cruise (best vacation of our lives!).I wanted to post a review of a weekend cruise, as I found it difficult to find info before we ...
