Solstice: Alaska May, 2016
"My wife's mother had been wanting to take an Alaska cruise for some time. After some family discussion, we chose to go in 2016, taking my wife and I, MIL, and my wife's younger niece. Did a bunch of research on..."Read More

First time cruising and we chose Alaska for it's scenic. It's was our 29th anniversary and decided on Celebrity Solstice after reading the reviews. We got a really good price and the weather was wonderful. Would go again. Ports were very nice. If going again would just choose the land tour next time. Ship was nice. Just needed a little more entertainment and maybe a couple of quick snack places. ...

I was very impressed with a lot of thing about Celebrity Solstice and very disappointed with other things. The shows were great, especially the Alaska shows. I was a little disappointed in the age of the ship but it wasn't dirty just a little aged. The Ocean View Cafe was great if you were of Asian or Indian background or if you love their food. The American fare was poor. The food looked ...

Worst Cruise of My Life

Before you jump to conclusions I have been on 10 cruises and this literally was the worst. The only things we enjoyed were the shore excursions. The ship is in great need of being redone. There was dust and apparently other things on the ship making people cough and sneeze all the time. We both left the ship not feeling well and I ended up at the doctor and more time off work due to my illness. ...

We lucked out with good weather but the cruise did not meet our expectations. Just about everything was just pretty average other than cleanliness which was great. The ship was very clean and well maintained. . This was our first time cruising on Celebrity. The food was very bland. The service was pretty good. The buffet offered variety but nothing exceptional in terms of flavor. The food ...

OH NO, DON’T GO! CRUISE FROM HELL! GOT SICK! PROFITS OVER PASSENGERS! Celebrity Solstice Alaska Cruise. Embarkation, guest services & excursions were horrible. (1.) Embarkation day was a nightmare. 3 ships in port. Arrived at 11:30 a.m. Didn’t board ship for many hrs. Totally disorganized. Port reps stated no Celebrity reps to assist. Check-in counter’s credit card machine malfunctioned. Waited ...

Alaska was the reason for choosing this cruise. The itinerary is the principal reason for us to include cruising amongst our holidays. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The ship was run very smoothly by an amazing master, Captain Tasos. He spoke brilliant English (not always the case on Celebrity ships) and was very funny. He gave a talk about the building of Solstice with ...

Quite simply, saw the advert for the cruise. Western Canada and Alaska were always destinations we hoped to visit. Spent 3 days in Vancouver pre cruise and 2 days in Seattle post cruise. The cruise was amazing. Celebrity Solstice is a beautiful ship. We travelled with family and had balcony cabins on each side of the ship. Our cabin was well looked after by Mathius, cabin attendant. The ...

About 3 weeks before sailing we received an email from Celebrity offering a 20% discount on First Night Specialty Dining reservations booked and paid for up to 2 days prior to sailing. We booked the Tuscan Grille. We were told we would receive a room credit for the 20% discount once we dined (we had to prepay the full amount). We never received our credit. I went to Customer Services while on ...

I wrote 10 pages of notes about how bad our cruise was for my agent's reference. I guess I just had high expectations after hearing/reading such good things about Celebrity over the years. But from the 4.5 hours waiting to board the ship to learning upon boarding that Celebrity screwed up our dining reservations to terrible room service food to only allowing kids in the covered pool from 5-7 pm ...

The Solstice was a great ship to Alaska, food, service, entertainment, ports and staff. Unfortunately the boarding process in. Vancouver was terrible. We were lucky, it took us 2 1/2 hours of standing on lines, others took up t four hours. The muster drill was moved and we departed late. After a wonderful cruise when we docked in Seattle Royal Caribbean Explorer of the sea docked at the same pier, ...
