If you want to see what global warming is doing, do the glacier cruise. Over the past 10 years, the glaciers have receded by 100 feet and probably 50 feet in height. Due to the melting, the glaciers are covered with layers of rock. We did this cruise in 2005 and it was outstanding. Now, the little towns are filled with the same jewelry shops and tourist traps. Very few locals as it was in ...
The Star Legend will be in dry dock soon to completely refurbish it and add 100 staterooms. And it need it. Everything was from gently to quite worn. Seals were broken on three large windows in the Yacht Club lounge, obscuring the view.
That said, the staterooms were quite comfortable and the house staff attentive.
Excursions are extremely expensive. Choose wisely. It’s much more fun to ...
Having to cancel a prior planned Alaska cruise chosen after a lot of research, a friend booked Sojourn and without hesitation we decided to tag along. This was our fourth cruise with Seabourn. The biggest disappointment was lack of any viewing opportunities from the ship itself for any Alaskan wildlife or glacier viewing. The only way to see anything was to book expensive ventures done by either ...
We chose Princess due to reviews and size of ship. Also ability to choose wake view room aft with large balcony. The medallion class ship was a great novelty and allowed easy access to cabin, ordering drinks, exciting ship etc. We booked a premium balcony cabin aft facing wake which is always our preferred choice of cabin on cruises as offers views both sides. Our cabin R732 was smaller ...
We chose this cruise bc of the itinerary. We think Princess has the best one in Alaska. The ship was very nice. We bought a suite to make it extra special. Unfortunately you really don’t get much more with a full suite than you do with a jr suite except a bit more room and a lot more cost. Unfortunately the balcony was always dirty bc of the smoke stacks and all the suites are aft. Our room ...
We were on the same ship same Alaska cruise 8 years ago.The millennium has been revitalized and the improvements are very nice. The boarding of the ship was fabulous since we had preregistered on line they scan our phones and off to board the ship.We were sailing with friends of ours and it was their first cruise. We wanted to surprise our friends so we ate ate Qsine(which this was the next to last ...
We love Alaska and were excited to return on a different route through the inside passage. We also wanted to do a cruise tour to explore Denali beforehand. The information before the cruise tour was not very detailed and Celebrity had little information to provide. This, of course, caused some problems during the lodging that could've been fixed before arrival. For example, on one of the ...
I had done the land/sea cruise with Princess in 2004. I was very disappointed in the dated decor and condition of the Island Princess. Tiki huts and fern decor was not fitting for Alaska! The carpeting in the Lido Cafe was dirty and worn. The bathroom was very small and Water came sloshing up in our shower basin and left dirt flecks behind. Embarkation was NOT well done. The agent that gave us our ...
Overall, we really enjoyed the cruise, but the disappointment in all of Princess's cutbacks in service left a bad taste. We are Platinum members and will cruise on Princess again but my wife and I agreed that we are reaching our limit on how far we will put up with Princess's cutbacks. First the good aspects which were substantial: We really like the ship. The Coral Princess is comfortable, not ...
Our trip on the Noordam Holland America was planned by my in-laws. My preference is Regent Cruise lines.
Coming on the ship I had very low expectations and I my expectations were correct.
The ship is somewhat worn.
The food is average.
I will say the service especially in the dining room was outstanding. Our waiter was Nadi, assisted by Ed and Janela. These three people were the ...
