Well run company and spectacular itinerary

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on National Geographic Explorer

I chose this cruise because of the places it was going to...Falklands, South Georgia and the Antarctic peninsula. The staff on board, including pro photographers, naturalists, scientists were all extremely knowledgeable and gave awesome presentations daily. The crew were all from the Philippines and were extremely attentive, warm and friendly. If you are wanting to go to the Antarctic and ...

South Georgia and the Falklands are must see destinations for people interested in wildlife and polar regions. I've been to Antarctica and the Arctic more than once, loved all those trips, but South Georgia is in a class by itself, given the quantity and diversity of wildlife to be seen -- five species of penguins, many albatross, countless other species of birds, elephant seals, fur seals, just ...

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on Fram

We are a well travelled New Zealand couple in our 60s. We did the HAL “sail by” to Antarctica over Christmas 2015 and were wowed by the scenery & wildlife, so decided to do an expedition cruise to see it closer up. Our expedition cruise to the Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica (22 nights with Hurtigruten December 2018/January 2019) was three times the cost of our drive by on HAL, a 21 ...

Antarctica NO .... Chilean Fjords YES

I chose this cruise because I wanted to see this part of the world. A better name would have been Patagonia and Chilean Fjords. Antarctica was not really covered. Ushuaia was a loveley port, but the ship did not provide an overnight or even an option to discover Antarctica. Luckily I decided to stay an extra day and forgo the charter flight from BA on the same day. Silversea provided an ...

Recommended by friends and duration suited our plans. The crew was exceptional , the Naturalists very informed and interesting and the Resident National Geographic Photographer was very patient and a good educator who was very generous with her time and thoughtful presentations.Sir Tim Jarvis was a consummate presenter and very approachable throughout the expedition. The daily zodiac trips ...

Lindblad/NG Explorer to Antarctica

We wanted to make our 7th continent and this worked well. The 1 star is off for the excursions in Bueno Aires and Ushuaia could have been improved with voice boxes (a la Viking) and more information so we could hear the guide instead of her having to shout. The food on the boat was nothing to write home about, but it was adequate. The food is not why you take this cruise. The catamaran cruise ...

My husband and I were on the Silversea Explorer for the December 22, 2015 to January 3, 2016 trip to the Falkland Islands and Antarctica. We flew in a few days early to Buenos Aires to just in case there were any issues with our flights because we didn’t want to take any chances to miss a trip of a lifetime. We took a taxi from the international airport to our hotel and then our hotel to the ...

First Encounter with Fram of Hurtigruten

We, three ladies, booked the cruise with Hurtigruten through our agent in Hong Kong. So, the cost covers one night in Buenos Aires (BA) and the 14 days trip. Before the trip, I read enough review about the Fram. Of course, there are always mixed rating and comments of the same thing. So, with a little reservation, we went ahead, no choice, right! We were lucky that we get to stay in ...

MS Fram - Antarctic, South Georgia & Falklands

Review for a South America Cruise on Fram

We started our expedition by flying from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia where we picked up Hurtigruten’s boat MS Fram. The boat is lovely, lots of pine and a fantastic observation lounge with floor to ceiling windows. Our suite was great, a good size, but beware, some of the inside cabins are very small. We had an amazing holiday, we saw five different types of penguins (Gentoos, Chin-strap, Magenellic, ...

We have recently returned from an Antarctic cruise on the Fram. This is sold as a 19 day cruise but although day one starts by having to be at the local airport in Buenos Aires at 3 a.m. you don't actually get onto the ship until 4 p.m. and on day 19 you are going to be leaving the ship at about 7.30 a.m. So, effectively it is a 17 day cruise. The Fram is an excellent ship for the job, being ...
