Excellent cruise, once we got on the ship

Review for a Antarctica Cruise on SH Vega

The cruise was incredible. Life-changing excursions in Antarctica and South Georgia. Surrounded by wildlife in no way controlled or influenced by humans. Our expedition team was tireless and effective at getting to fantastic destinations despite challenging weather conditions- which are common with Antarctic cruises. The food was satisfactory, especially given we had no ports of call to restock. ...

The cruise was conducted excellently throughout and we were able to reach and land on all of the planned destinations. Nothing was too much trouble for the very efficient and friendly staff with great attention to detail. They were obviously well trained as some of them recognised me from five years ago on a different cruise line. A very experienced expedition team and a very good guest ...

Great Expedition but Lack of Attention to Detail was a Let Down

We chose this cruise to continue our exploration of the South Atlantic, having already been on a Seabourn Antarctic cruise the year before. We embarked in Ushuaia, Argentina and had been there the year before. This cruise included a flight from Santiago to Ushuaia as part of the total cruise fare. And this is where things became odd. We were awakened at 1:30AM in Santiago, Chile, to join ...

We had done an Antarctic Cruise with Ponant before and wanted to revisit St Georgia and break new ground on Tristan and open sea cruising. The ship was well decked out and comfortable even in rough weather. Food was disappointing at times but understand that there was no real replenishment available. The passenger list were mainly French (to be expected) and at times we (Australian) felt ...

We sailed from Ushuaia to Cape Town via Falklands, South Georgia and Tristan da Cunha. The ship was less than half full, probably because there are many sea days and it is basically a re-positioning cruise but with such a difference. The sea days were so worth while for the amazing sights and experiences we had. First the ship - yes she is a little tired but spotlessly clean and well cared ...

Fram to Antarctica: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly

Review for a Africa Cruise on Fram

Let's start with the bottom line: A+ for the adventure/education experience and C- for amenities and even basic courtesy Flight arrangements. Getting basic information from Hurtigruten's flight team would challenge the CIA. Something as simple as baggage limitations required faxes that went unanswered and a series of e-mails that produced absolutely contradictory information. Although I began my ...
