Ship tacky, service nice, after service terrible

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on S.S. Catherine

This was our first river cruise. Cruise ship super tacky. Decor very off putting . We were disappointed with the rigid schedule . The tours we tried were not very good. Dinner menu great but only one choice of when to dine. We would have prefered more flexibility, like a more casual dining option. The so called included ‘ Premium wine ‘ was very poor. I mean it is a French river cruise but the ...

Week 3 of Ultimate France Oct 2023 (Please read all 3 parts!)

Uniworld packages 3 voyages together as "Ultimate France", this covers week 3. There is no bistro on-board this ship & there were 147 passengers onboard - this might be why dining room service suffered during week 3. Housekeeping:- cabin was clean and well maintained. Food: By week 3, it was very obvious that dishes at dinner were repeating weekly (eg; foie gras brioche, baked Alaska, ...

Uniworld Queen Isabel disappoints

I have sailed with Uniworld twice before and with Viking a few times. I chose this sailing because of the beauty of Portugal and the friendliness of its people. Although the scenery was lovely, people do need to understand that the regulations on the Douro only allow for sailing during daylight hours. This means very limited time in port and a lot of time on the ship. Also, except for Porto, ...

Overpriced disappointing trip

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on S.S. Antoinette

we had expected a magical experience after watching Jane MacDonald on this Christmas Markets Cruise last year. The itinerary was wrong as it had listed an Xmas Market every day. They failed to advise us prior to the cruise that the shops close on Xmas Eve so the last market was on the 23rd. The ship was beautiful but the cruise was dull & boring with no atmosphere. The cabin was lovely, ...

What Castles Along the Rhine?

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on S.S. Antoinette

My husband and I were passengers on the Basel to Amsterdam "Castles Along the Rhine" October 14-22, 2018 river cruise with Uniworld on board the SS Antoinette. On the second night( the first night of this "7 night voyage" was the overnight cruise to Breisach from Basel), we were informed that there was a possibility that the cruise might be cut short because of low river levels. Sure enough, at ...

Not what we paid for

Our 8 day river cruise has turned into a 4 day cruise and 4 day bus ride. Due to low river levels along the Rhine, we only got as far north as Kehl, Germany and are being bused into Amsterdam from there. Yes, I understand that Uniworld can’t control Mother Nature and water levels, but it would have been nice to have been warned that this was a possibility and been given the option to cancel with a ...

Overrated

Just completed the Douro River Cruise. Would not recommend based on level of service, weak excursions and nightly double and triple parked boats at the respective docks. Fuel smell, noise and overall commotion was distracting from the expected advertised trip. Over paid and will not recommend nor return based on a total lack of interest from Uniworld. We paid for balcony and were at times less ...

Egypt is a great place to visit with amazing people. Shopping is a concern

We choose.this cruise in hopes of seeing all that Egypt has to offer and its amazing history and culture. We flew from the US thus the flight time and time difference leave you a little out of sync. Getting test is critical and being organized is a priority. We felt safe during our travels as many safety features are in place. We were able to visit many ket sites that are simply amazing. The ...

Average port stops and large group of 81 people spoiling the experience

Review for a Europe - River Cruise Cruise on S.S. Catherine

I did the Ultimate France with Uniworld in Apr 18. I travelled with another company last year and was able to compare the 2. Uniworld did not have the best port stops on the Ultimate France tour and mainly bused it to villages, leaving little time to explore these on your own. Bordeaux, Lyon and Paris were very good, but all of the other stops were very average and not much to see. The second ...

Disappointing-- not luxury

Wanted to see the Douro River and Portugal. Chose this ship because it was small and reviews were good. It was lacking in many things: bathroom had black mold and smelled. Ship needs renovation. Even smelled like diesel fuel at times. Front desk was unfriendly and unhelpful. Food was hit and miss -- some meals weren't even hot! Had two very disappointing dinners -- the dining room staff ...
