We took the week-long ‘Dutch Delights’ cruise from Amsterdam and back, via the IJsellmeer inland sea and both large and small rivers. This ‘Generations’ cruise had several sizeable family groups with well-behaved kids, a change from the usual mix of retirees.
We particularly enjoyed visiting the pretty small towns in Friesland and the rural far south of The Netherlands. Amsterdam is probably ...
We traveled on the SS Antoinette from Amsterdam to Basel on October 2-9, 2022. The ship is decorated in Uniworld unique décor that is very ornate. Our room 314 was nice and had comfortable beds, ample storage, nice sized bathroom and worked well for our stay. I would liked to have had more USB type outlets. Just one outlet next to bed. There is a tv mounted with many stations, music, movies, ...
We took a trip recently on this ship from Amsterdam to Basel, our thrip trip on Uniworld. Although the ship was beautiful and the crew were terrific, it may be our last such trip with this company because we found, especially at dinner that the dining room was so loud. We complained and were told that others have raised the same concerns.
Part of the reason may be that the company has a policy ...
The boat was nice, crew friendly, and well organized and food very good. Some points to consider:
* We travel often and don’t use a travel agent. Being our first time with UW, we booked by phone. The customer service reps were less than helpful, and when notified of our “late” flight time, said that if we had read the small print in the contract we received a couple of days after ...
We chose this cruise due to the excellent reputation that Uniworld has for accomodations and service.
We had a cabin on Deck 3 which was a regular Oceanview cabin. The cabin was decorated very beautifully. Plenty of room to put away all your clothes and bathroom stuff.
Bathroom is all marble with a nice size shower. The room itself was a little smaller than another ship we had been on. ...
We are experienced ocean cruisers so we tried not to compare river to ocean cruise as we had sailed on the now defunct Peter Deilmann river cruise over 10 years ago and anything would have been better than that experience. Suffice it to say, Uniworld provides a superior experience from the standpoint of service on board. All personnel were committed to providing the best customer service albeit ...
My cruising background:
* Sea Cruise Nights: (about 280, mainly on Seabourn)
* River Cruise Nights: This is my 1st River cruise.
OUR SUITE: 406
PROBLEM #1 - INTERNET
Internet access is free, and fast enough. But there is a big problem with accessing anything else than BASIC email and WEBSITES. There seems to be a firewall between the ship and the world that is set as follows:
* ...
It was our first river cruise and we selected the Uniworld SS Antoinette as the ship based upon the sailing dates. We are extremely fond of white asparagus (known as Spargel in Germany) and selected this date as it is in the height of the very short season. When asked by us whether the chef would be willing to prepare this for us if we purchased them in the local markets, they told us not to ...
My wife and I sailed on the third sailing of the new SS Maria Theresa. We enjoyed much about the cruise although a few things left us scratching our heads. I will hit the highlights of the good, the not so good, and the unacceptable.
The good:
The best part of the ship was the food and drink. The food is outstanding and on par with the best cruise ships have to offer (my point of ...
