Bus Trip on a Boat

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on Wilderness Legacy

Chose this cruise based on the recommendation of the travel agent. The boat is quite old, and needs refurbishing badly. Food was diner quality with an occasional flash of brilliance. Substitutions were always available however any change to the routine meant meals for your table arrived last and were cold, and staff were not particularly happy or gracious about it. Heritage lectures were ...

We chose this cruise because it didn't go onto the open ocean, and we wanted the river experience. Overall impression: Nice, but you have to be a real Lewis & Clark fan to get the most out out of this cruise, and you need to be able to handle the heat during summer. We cruised from Portland, OR to Clarkton, then back, in July. I should have done my geographical homework before we left. I ...

Marine Life SPECTACULAR in Sea of Cortez!

Review for a Pacific Coastal Cruise on Safari Endeavour

This is our second cruise with Un-Cruise. The last one, on Safari Quest, was five stars in every category. This was not a repeat adventure. Yes, the marine life was spectacular. Snorkeling with baby sea lions, getting right next to a blue whale, touching and observing for hours the grey whales and babies was amazing and special. We encountered two super pods (over 2,000) dolphins that stayed with ...

Pacific NW & San Juan Island Un-Cruise

Un-Cruise choosen to stay in USA and do a river type cruise. Beautiful scenery trip could be done by taking your own car and use ferry system, where you could be more independent.Good variety of meals were served at 7:30,12:30 and 6:30 or picnic lunches to go. Activities are 2 per day and they use sign up sheet in evening and post in AM. Three levels of activities each with a guide. The staff ...

Cruise Overview

I was looking for an adventure cruise on a small ship with a focus on glaciers and wildlife. Weather in Sept was wet, cold, rough and windy. We saw almost no wildlife - 2 bears on a beach 3/4 of a mile away and only humpback whales from a considerable distance - literally nothing else. Food was excellent, crew was very accommodating. The owner of the cruise line was on board and altogether too ...

Round trip Portland OR cruise on Columbia/Snake Rivers. Excellent tours and exposure to history, both geology and early people, of the area. SS Legacy comfortable, but cabin quite small - we are spoiled with larger cruise line experience! Food good, well prepared and presented, but with limited selection. Waitstaff not well versed on menu details. Relatively large crew - professional and ...

Great In So Many Ways, But Some Significant Downfalls

Review for a Alaska Cruise on Wilderness Discoverer

There is something very special about cruising the Inside Passage, especially on a smaller ship, however I wondered do these smaller ships really take advantage of their smaller size. We are from Australia, so seeing humpback whales is not unusual, we saw a number of them in Alaska, but always some distance away and only the backs, they are still majestic and beautiful but sightings were not ...

Better than Average but not Quite Very Good

As many have said before in the small vs. large cruise discussions, small cruises really are a lot more flexible, and the captain has a lot of leeway in deciding where to go based on weather and wildlife sightings, etc. That is a huge advantage, in my opinion. Also, everybody on staff worked SO hard--guides, dining hall people, etc. What I really came to dislike, however, was the relentless ...

Columbia River Cruise - Lessons in history

Embarkation - The meeting location was changed without notifying us. I happened to call and confirm things and was told it was changed. Welcome was not very warm and friendly. The people at our table didn't even look up from reading their ebooks and say Hi. The Ship - We loved the ship and its size. Very appropriate for the area we cruised in décor. The lounge and outside area was very ...

I realize i am the naysayer on these guys, Perhaps i believed the brochures too much as UnCruise is still pretty "cruise" like in many ways. the impression given by their marketing is that this cruise is a chance to get close to nature with hikes, free kayaking and such. But your are kept on a pretty tight leash and the nature/adventure experience very limited. all in all the animal ...
