This was an all inclusive ship so all drinks/food/tips and the service was incredible. We were especially impressed with how approachable ALL the staff were and they were all great fun . The cruise director was very down to earth and happy to talk to everyone and take part in anything. You could do as much or as little as you wanted on this ship - there were enough sunbeds if you wanted them and a small adult area as well. There were plenty of indoor daytime activities including dance classes/ basic spanish ( good fun ) /indoor bowls /trivia quizzes even an afternoon pantomine The shows were very varied and as for the comedian Phl - he was side splitting hilarious . There is none of the american hard sales patter about booking your next cruise or what to buy or shopping talks etc.. but good value trips . The food was varied and we went to the fanastic surf and turf (payable) which was incredibleand good value . There is no restriction on dining so you turn up and if its busy they give you a buzzer for when your table is ready AND you can choose a table just for your party or share so excellent if you eat with friends sometimes and eat alone others - so flexible . Just back from the Cuban Fusion plus week on the beach in Jamaica. We were first timers and the cruise was much as expected. The food in all restaurants was very good and the endless drinks, particularly Prosecco, was tempting. In fact after a few days with difficulty I managed to keep most alcohol until late afternoon. We went to the Surf and Turf as it was our wedding anniversary and everything, staff, food, table was first class - although as we had already paid for the food, quite expensive at nearly £60. We had a Junior Cabin which was brilliant with sunloungers on the balcony. These were particularly useful on sea days when the decks were rammed with bodies on sunloungers. We were able to to back to the cabin and relax in peace. We found the cabin on deck 8 quite noisy from above with tables and chairs being moved around. If we did it again we would choose a different deck. We were encouraged to have a photo shoot with a complimentary anniversary card. The photos were good but the price £250 for 10 very, very expensive. We only wanted one photo but on principle would not pay £60. We bought one of the other photo outlets with pictures available to see on the screen for £14.95. We toured Havana on foot very easily as the ship was moored right in the centre of town. You can pick up a town map from Reception. It was brilliant. We went back out three times during the day. At Cozumel again we walked around the town. The Museum on the front is a must, plus is has a nice cafe on the top floor overlooking the bay. Well worth it. We took a taxi to the beach in the afternoon he dropped at Carlos and Charlies and we walked down to the beach and then left onto Oceans section which was less crowded. Loungers free for the price of a drink and food available. On the second morning as we were leaving at 2pm, we walked to the orange hotel to the right at the end of the pier and relaxed by their pool all for the price of a drink. On the Caymans, again we went to the museum right by the tender dock and then a taxi to 7 mile beach and back. The cruise was very good and we were glad we had booked a week on the beach at the end to relex. Read Less

TUI Marella Discovery 2 out of Jamaica. Flying from Newcastle on the Dream liner. 14 days .Couple 58/63 Exotic Explorer & Cuban Fusion Jamaica,Belize,Guatemala,Honduras,Jamaica,Havana Cuba,Cozumel Mexico.Grand Cayman ,Jamaca.. First ever Cruise. Late deal 3 weeks before embarkation So no availibility to upgrade from an inside cabin. We did select out window seats on the plane as seats still availible. (at a cost) Cruise good value for money. Alocated the Cabin from HELL 2001 .It was next to a Crew room (night shift docking crew mess room) and above was a bar pantry (restocking after the bar closed and shows finished 12.30 pm) Complaint went in after the first night but told ship full so could not move rooms untill second week. Recieved assurances that the noise would stop but it was not untill night 5 that we got some sleep. Recieved £75 compenstation and moved second week. Sleep at last. new room no problem 2737 off the main corridor. The humm of the ship sent us off to sleep. Food and drink first class. Staff VERY attentive . Cabin OK . Unable to offer a comparison as first Cruise but just like Caravaning if you know what i mean.Small but cosy and practical. Excursions If you want to do your own thing then Roatan Honduras is the best beach . The ship docks near the beach and you can walk back to the ship any time for lunch & a drink. Access to the beach is an all day pass $14 each (inc sun bed) one of the cheapest on our trip. The ship docks in Havana Cuba just accross the road from the old town. Good for a walk about and sight seeing. (plenty of the old cars to do an hour tour at $20 each. An hour is more than enough to see the main sights) Good info provided each day in the form of a news letter left in you cabin each night and updates over the tanoy from captin Christopher Overall a good time . May do a Cruise again some time. Read Less

Just returned home after a 14 day holiday sailing around the caribbean on the Discovery 2. This was our first experience of cruising and I can honestly say we are hooked. My husband and I had a fantastic time and could not fault anything. We had an inside cabin which was small but as you only sleep in it this was fine and our cabin girl was very friendly and ensure everything was perfect for us. They clean the room twice daily and ensure you have the next days itinerary and chocolate on your bed the night before . The staff are a credit to this ship and work very hard to ensure every guest has a great time. The dining experience was fantastic with various dining experiences to choose from; buffet service, waiter service and fine dining. The ship has a very friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The all inclusive drinks package was fantastic with all branded drinks. You could dress to impress or just go smart casual which suited us very well. We have been on many holidays but can honestly say that the entertainment was second to none. The young entertainment staff were fantastic and could act, sing and dance. There were was also 2 special guests comedians who made us laugh. As this was our first cruise we did book the majority of our excursions through Tui but could have booked hem independently. Our favourite trips were the Humanitarian tour in Guatamala and the stingray experience in the Cayman Island (albeit that the staff on the boat were not great and did not really understand the importance of health and safety). This cruise was fantastic value for money and we would go back in a heart beat. Well done to all the staff on board and thank you for a great holiday. Read Less

my wife and i booked this cruise and stay as our honeymoon. The staff on the ship were brilliant except for darren tiller the general manager when we spoke to him not even a congratulations from him, the attitude was your paid for the cruise and that was it no customer service to follow. The hotel riu montego bay where we stayed on our second week gave us a bottle of champagne and a nice letter which went a long way ..The cabin was nice but did need paint around window frame and we could have done with toiletries. The elton john singer wouldnt have even got on the x factor, total rubbish .The ship was only doing 16knots to save fuel never mind our cruise going early from ports. Transfer from the airport What a nightmare from start to finish cattle market comes to mind ,endless form filling .no TUI REP OR CRUISE STAFF in sight only local jamacians to herd you to the bus. Cruise port A shed of a place more form filling again why couldnt this be done before we arrive in the country!! Cabins No staff to help you find your cabin, you had to find your own way. Food average! !staff who worked cleaning the cabins were fabulous ,drinks were ok ,entertainment poor, shore excursions totally fantastic . water was extra ,which was a joke as it was supposed to be all inclusive. NEVER AGAIN ,it wasnt a cheap holiday it was £5000 with the trips so not a cheap /honeymoon expected a lot better ,but didnt get it !!! Read Less

Where do I even begin, This year I was fortunate enough to experience the best holiday imaginable. I booked my holiday through TUI for a two week carirbean cruise on the Marella Discovery 2. This was my first ever cruise and the price and itenary were incredible. The whole holiday was seemless from booking, to flying to arriving to resort to embark the ship. TUI and Marella staff were always on hand to help. We were greeted with the smiliest faces at Montego Bay where we were checked in and directed to board the Cruise. That night we were instructed and reassured on all safety procedures and given a guided tour of the cruiseship to find our bearings whilst our suitcases were delivered to our cabins. Everynight we recieved an entertainment planner for the days entertainment and events as well as an update on the days port, local information, weather for the day, currencys used and things to do. The cruise was all inclusive and having stayed in many 5* all inclusive hotels around the world the food and drink on the cruise may as well have been 10*. The variety, standard, presentaion and flavour were fantastic. There were many retsuarants to use and the only problem i faced was trying not too eat too much or picking where to eat. The staff on the cruise were the best team of staff i have ever come accross on my holidays. Everyone was so warm and friendly and really helped to personalise your holiday and go out of their way to make it special. In the mornings you would have a wake up announcement from Captain Chris and the Cruise Director Martyn who would start you day off with a lovely update on the weather outside, the port, when you could get off the cruise and overall a lovely start to the day. When you go on shore there are so many different things to see and do to experience the fantastic culture and sights. We always booked out excurions through TUI on the cruise and everything we did added value to our holiiday experience and was unique and great for getting out of the country what we wanted to see, do and experience. We never faced any issues with our cabin and never struggled for size. The cabin was cleaned twice a day and two sets of towels also. We were always left chocolates at night and the cleaners were lovely, always said hello when passing in the corridors. TV channels were fab, plenty of films and programmes to choose from and we loved that there were Marella channels to keep you posted with excursions. We always tried to tune into Cruise Director TV to find out whats been on and whats upcoming chilst on board. The pool on the cruise was a great size and perfect way to cool off on a hot carribean day. There was never any issues with sunbeds as there was deck 9 and deck 10 to lay out on. The entertainment team will keep you entertained with poolside games and quizzes as well as laying back to onboard bands and and talented voices to sing poolside. Waiter service aorund the pool was an added bonus as you didnt even have to move to get a drink. The entertainments show team, actor hosts and family hosts really made our holiday. They were all so friendly and always smiling and laughing. The level of enterainment on the Cruise is one of the most professional, talanted and sought after I have ever seen. The entertainment lounge and gameshows venue were always full and you could see from just looking around all of the guests were constantly happy and enjoying as much as us. A big shout out to the whole team and we really hope we get to see you on furture cruises. Your an assest to Marella and TUI and the way you interact and are constanly around your guests socialising and entertaining is incredible. we dont have children but even seeing the childcare team around the pool helping with quizzes and interacting around the cruise was also amazing to see. All of the staff want to inteact with the guests and really go out of their way to make their holiday. The cruise also has a jogging track, a virtual reality room, casino, climbing wall, minigolf, outdoor cinema, nighclub, shops and full spa just to name a few extras. I would 100% recommend a cruise on the Marella Discovery 2 for the best holiday you can ask for. Read Less
