We were interested in seeing the ports on this cruise Combining with the relaxing sea days at the end. Everything about this cruise was fabulous. The ports included Ibiza, Cartagena, Gibraltar and Tenerife. We went five days early since there is so much to see in Barcelona. The Reflection is a great ship and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We went Aqua Class and I highly recommend it. The Blu dining room was an absolute dining pleasure and the staff just wonderful. I cannot say enough about the food on this ship. It was the best of any cruise we have been on. People were actually photographing the desserts on the buffet! They looked too good to eat. The entertainment was equally good and we loved Giuseppe the activities director. In conclusion, transatlantic will always be my first choice for cruising. And I hope to go on the Reflection again in the future. But Celebrity has become my cruise line of choice. Happy sailing! Our third HA cruise, and probably the last. Entertainment during the day was non existant. Main Stage acts were poor apart from female impressionist. The smell of smoking in the Casino and deck 9 was overpowering. This is now a deal breaker for us. Lido buffet food was cold and laid out all over the place. The meat on offer was very poor quality. Dining room was an unmitigated disaster, the menus were not to North American tastes and the service was a joke. Mediocre pizza place and Dive in kept us alive for most of the trip. Layout of the ship was terrible. It took 20 mins to get to deck 12 crows nest from our cabin for 4.30 trivia. A few days in we just gave up. The plus points: great gym , great free sauna with sea view, very comfortable beds with great TV with some nice movies ( in the absence of any real entertainment). Lincoln Stage musicians were wonderful if rather high brow all the time, they needed to mix things up a bit. Read Less

Great cruise line. Awesome ship and service. One of the best designed ships we have ever been on. Wraparound Promenade deck. Thermal spa outfitted with more different treatment areas (whirlpools, snow room, dry sauna, steam room, etc). Great fitness room. Most rooms between the common areas on decks 1-2-7-8 limiting how many stairs to traverse to get between rooms and common areas. Ship had no feeling of crowding anywhere. Common services desks designed to address client needs. Ship was largely digital meaning that many things could be accomplished through television set in the stateroom. Service was exemplary in every way. Wait times throughout the ship were short or non-existent. Service was highly anticipatory. All administrative activities including embarkation and debarkation, as well as port visits were professionally and efficiently handled. Very good food, using fresh, high quality ingredients. Food was well prepared and tasty. Special requests were handled by the culinary staff with aplomb. World Cafe had most items of the Restaurant + some additional surprises. Mamsen's deli was okay, but the Pool Grill was outstanding. Both Manfredi's and Chef's Table were very good. Could have offered more traditional desserts. On-board activities, while not lacking, could have been more robust. Afternoon tea was great featuring more than 12 types of tea. Enrichment lectures were good also and were recorded for later viewing in the staterooms. No casino or bingo which was a plus. Read Less

Reading the reviews about the Infinity made me a little concerned about the age of the ship being we were doing a transatlantic trip 8 days at sea and ending up in Portugal and Spain.I cannot understand how some people can complain about this ship. The trip over seas was exceptional the ride smooth and the staff wonderful. I cannot begin to say how wonderful the experience was. I think if your looking for problems you could find problems on any ship but if you go to enjoy yourself and the company your with then you can enjoy whatever ship you are on. Our room was spotless and our room stewart, Sergio, was the best, always willing to do anything we wanted and always doing it with a smile. We have done many cruises and we don't go on ships looking for things to complain about, but look for the good things..Our day consisted of Sergio greeting us in the morning then we would go up to the 10th floor for the breakfast buffet or down to 4th for a sit down breakfast. Each day we would play cards or join what ever activity offered for entertainment for the day. Lunch was always at the buffet which they had plenty to god food to offer for any appetite you felt like having. Then onto dinner WOW we never had a bad meal all 14 days. Marteo and Mart were great waiters on the 5th floor. My husband loves to eat and whatever he wanted it was given to him with a smile. Then onto the entertainment at night, the shows were outstanding we went to all of them. Then onto the casino which I have to say I won and came home with money..overall if your hellbent on finding problems you will, but really try hard to enjoy a wonderful trip on a great ship the infinity still has a lot of life in her even though she is old..we love it from beginning to the end , fantastic. The excursions were not the best..we had six stops and I would say out of six we four that were halfway desent..Hop on Hop off buses were not so good. Read Less

I wanted to express that this was a relaxing cruise, the activity was limited , but the food was excellent, excursions were good, entertainment was okay, the room was spacious, loved being on the top floor, the wait staff "Herman" any time dining located on floor 2, Herman was a wonderful server with a big smile, very helpful and tentative to me, the bartenders were wonderful. The candy man who was the greeter he always had a smile. The pasties were delicious and nicely displayed; Oliver in the bar was excellent he knew what I wanted to drink before sitting down. Oliver works in the Crows Nest. The towel staff and the pool area was supreme. The piano bar and BB King great music and dancing all night long. I learned a lot during the cooking demonstration well presented and demonstrated. The crew members who help you on and off the ship are great. The photographer Andrew was wonderful and Wayne in the Jewelry shop was full of hugs and smiles. Sung who worked in the perfume store beautiful girl. Read Less

We booked this cruise a second time because of the solid value offered, and the generally friendly and active passengers we experienced last year. Numerous people remembered us this time as we went about activities and dining, and all were repeat passengers for multiple past cruises. The big values for us were the Burn the Floor dancers that performed in the Manhattan dining room, Epic theatre, and ballroom dance classes. Amazingly fast and complicated moves appeared effortless except for the heat they generated. Many other talent balanced out the performances, including more comedians than last year. Standout hospitality from Roderick in keeping our cabin in perfect shape, even though our schedule was a bit erratic, and from all the food servers in the Shanghai and Manhattan rooms were really appreciated. Wallfredo managed our wine selections with insight and attention, and we have only good memories of many Manhattan dinners. We were laughing one night about what a comparable dinner, Broadway show, late night disco, and hotel in New York would have required; compared to just strolling around the ship for a few minutes and saying thanks for the experience. That’s value. Counterpoints were the smokey casino right in the middle of the ship and the three amenities floors that NCL has not safely ventilated to protect their employees and non-smoking passengers like me. That’s a prime reason for choosing other ships. Secondly, although you can find some healthy foods, they’re re mixed in with hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, sweets and ice cream. Some deserts were labeled “No Sugar Added” but does that mean they are loaded with sugar-alcohols or toxic artificial sweeteners instead. More informative labeling or online ingredient lists would be greatly appreciated. Finally, the entertainment staff needs to expand their playlists to eliminate obnoxious repeats of over-played classics like “Hotel California.” Read Less

This was the cruise for us!! Four stops in a transatlantic package!! Ideal! It was our first experience on a larger ship and it was a worthwhile experience. The facilities were luxurious and the ropes course was sprine tingling! Our cabin was perfect for us, not fancy but it had everything we needed including a surprising amount of storage space and the entertainment was outstanding! Totally top shelf! Cirque, Burn the Floor, Rock of Ages, Helen Ward-Jackson, Justino Zuppo all fantastic! The food was very good with lots of variety and the service was courteous, friendly and prompt. A new addition was a lecturer who briefed us on each of the destinations and tied the trip into a theme of American Immigration. Finally!! He was wonderfully informative. That said, I don’t believe we will choose a large ship again. The theater was too small to seat even half of the guests so that not everyone could see the shows. There were long queues for nearly everything, The fitness center had lots of machines and they were adequate. The trainers were knowledgeable, professional and friendly but the workout room was entirely too small to accommodate the number of people who wanted to attend morning stretch and abs classes. Many people were turned away. We had to be sure to arrive 15 minutes early for class to claim a slice of the floor and a mat. We did like the fact that a fitness pass was offered which allowed us to attend as many classes as we chose to attend for one price but there was an overwhelming sense that additional charges were a theme. There was no longer a shower or sauna in the gym. The only saunas or steam rooms were available at an additional cost in the spa which was beautiful but expensive and not our vibe. Read Less

This Ship is nice and well maintained. There always seemed to be someone out painting on the top decks and i never did see garbage or any dirty dishes about. WARNING: We did have a huge setback however with Princess deciding to be the first ship to hook up to shore power in Norway. This caused our ship to have a power outage and fry some of the ships systems. As such we did not leave port until late, which caused our travel time to Scotland to be extensive. We where unable to do our excursion in Scottland that we book with Princess, who did not offer much assistance to rebook, often advising "sorry we are full" as we where not one of the first people to rebook. You would assume that since our tour bus was booked for our excursion, there would be enough busses to book the shorter excursions. PowerCon of Denmark supplied the equipment for the shore power which caused the power outage. Hopefully they fix this in the future, but be warned that if your ship decides to hook up to the power there, you may not be leaving on time and arriving at your next port. With regards to the fitness centre, although it is a nice gym they have set up, the classes that go on for Spin/TRX...etc in the smaller room are not advertised or talked about. You may have to ask to sign up for these classes??? not sure, but would even pay extra to do some of these activities. I do have to say though, the Service we ecountered on this ship was AMAZING. We had amazing staff and service the entire time. Dining was always available and we had pretty much no wait times. The buffet had great option for everyone and lots of vegetables to keep it healthy. We had no problem getting a table in any dining room at any time, but noticed temperature of the mains coming out was always room temperature (not hot or cold, but warmish). Some nights had great choices and some nights had nothing that we wanted, but there was always something upstairs. We did several "upgraded" dinning nights. The Crown grill was the best choice, with us going back several times (where are you going to get a huge steak for $29 back home?) and always having a great experience. That being said, we did the Chef’s Table Lumiere, which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment on the food side. The tour was amazing and the app's in the kitchen where good, but the actual sit down meal left alot to be desired. I would have used the money to go back to the Crown Grill again instead. Read Less

We booked a concierge level stateroom with the O-Life package including 5 tours. Air arrangements made by Oceania got us into Montreal late in the day. The cruise was supposed to start in Montreal but due to high river levels making passage under bridges difficult, we had to be transported to second port of call in Trois Rivieres to embark. Oceania's arrangements for transfers to the ship were abysmal. We had to wait, standing around for two hours before a bus arrived to take us to the ship and no refreshments, even water, were provided in the waiting location or on the bus. The staff handling the transfer at the airport were poorly informed regarding where buses were and what arrangements would be made for dining when we arrived at the ship after the dining venues were scheduled to close. Fortunately, buffet was kept open late to handle the many late arrivals. Our stateroom bathroom was not cleaned well when we arrived -- unclean glasses and residue on shelves in stateroom. Stateroom staff was quick to remedy problems, and were generally responsive throughout the cruise after that. The stateroom was what we expected and in good condition. Bed and linens were quite comfortable. Room was quiet. Food was, in general, quite good. Comparable or better than Crystal. We found the food and service at specialty restaurants Jacques and Red Ginger to be excellent and better than specialty restaurants on Crystal, but food and service at both Polo Grill and Toscana were major disappointments. Food at Terrace buffet and Waves grill was quite good and service and quality of coffee offerings at Baristas was great. Lectures were distinctly inferior in quality and number to Crystal offerings on the cruises we have taken with that line. Exercise classes also were more limited and the exercise instructors were a clear step below Crystal exercise classes and instructors. Most tours were excellent, although the overview tour of Dublin was uninformative and generally disappointing. Read Less

As a New Diamond Member with Royal Caribbean and have done more then 42 Cruises with various companies. We are proud and pleased with the Enterainment on the Jewel of the seas. The " Fly On" acts i think were a lot more presentable and distinguished then the Ships production shows themselves. The Singers and dancers were probably the weakest then most ships. However the ship was BUSY! with tons of variety and lots of entertainment options around the Vessel. This 14 night repositioning cruise had continuously brought out great bands in all lounges and great parties. Andrea who is the current cruise Director from Italy ( coming from MSC and Norwegian Cruise line was out and about making sure all guests were having a great time. He was a very nice, organized Cruise Director. Disappointed to see the Cold Soups go.. from Royal. We did the Vision of the seas last year through Scotland, Ireland and they offered a different chilled soup each night. Banana, Strawberry, EXTC. Ports through the Canary Islands were extremely beautiful with fair port hours from the ship we are very pleased and grateful for this cruise experience. Read Less

We arrived on time and then had to wait 3 hours before we could check in. Electrical plugs did not work in cabin. Took me a day and three staff members that could not plug into the sockets to finally get an electrician, who after considerable effort was able to angle the plug downward, prey up ward and jam it in, said, (if it is even possible for anyone to believe this), "All the plug ins on the ship are child proofed, I cannot I cannot make yours different without doing it to every plug on the ship." When I responded, you do not mean that it is child proofed but that it is also customer proofed and your own staff proofed, because after 4 hours and 4 different people trying no one could get that plug in." He then agreed to go get his tools and fix the plug. None of the gym equipment works. The various measure from miles to heart monitors to TV's nothing works. We made reservations for a show and when we got there 10 minutes early their were no seats for us. Getting up at 4:30 am to have breakfast in there "all night restaurant" they never had any coffee, food or as in this morning as I write this a bit pissed off even a seat. They told me I had to leave and go sit elsewhere because they were going to vacuum. When I asked if I could have a glass of water, a scowling staff simply slid over a glass that had water in it and had been clearly standing on the counter all night. No ice and could well have been someones discard hours before.. Needing full internet service that did not work. I had to stand 4 different times in a line 8 to 15 people deep to get assistance from the one IT person the ship offered. I literally spent hours in that line, coming back again and again until they were forced to provide the connection I had paid an extra $300+ for. Wanting to go on an excursion that had been sold out, we asked if there was anyway we would be able to hire a cab or other transportation and were told," We do not help with that, we only have information about our excursions if you are not on one you are on your own." The bedroom TV, are tiny, you cannot see them well from the bed nor can you use the remote without getting up out of bed and going over to the TV. The food runs bad with few exceptions. All of the restaurants serve identical menus. We have been on a great many cruises, never have i seen a more poorly trained staff or a ship with such an unhappy and unwelcoming group. Norwegian - Never again. Read Less

Good food and service but liquor and wine prices are high. Our room steward was the best so far. Princess stopped doing Happy Hours. That means higher drink prices and fewer chances to hang out with new friends. The food menu continues to be cheapened with better, more expensive items replaced with cheaper options. Both embarkation and debarkation were superb. They were really fast and easy. Denmark was really neat but expensive. If you are trying to keep expenses Down, choose another destination or limit your stay in Copenhagen. During a December cruise to South America, gelato was $1.50, on this cruise it was raised to $3.50. Why? Princess would not sell us a wine card during our December cruise. They were selling wine cards on this cruise but because wine prices had been raised a lot, the wine cards were out of sync with wine prices. For example, the silver wine cards now cover wines up to $31 but there are few wines priced under $31 and none that I wanted to drink. That means that even with a wine card you have to pay extra to get the wine you want. Read Less

Try the Tuscan Wine Dinner - outstanding. Loved all the ports - Bermuda, Azores, Lisbon Portugal, Bilboa Spain, and Southampton. Port Lectures were outstanding. Provided valuable information about each port. Loved the excursions we took in all ports. Highly recommend Lisbon! Guest lecturer David Russell was outstanding. Very pleasant surprise to our cruise. His lectures were about World War II and the Royal Navy battles. Fascinating details. Very captivating speaker. There were about 10 lectures and each built on the previous. Princess has great enrichment lecturers, but David was truly outstanding! Productions shows were fantastic. Excellent singers and dancers. 3 new shows - loved them! Loved to movies on board. Many new movies that I had not seen before. Easy to see in theater or the room. Love the on demand feature for movies!!!! Read Less

We have done this before. Twice we sailed from Barcelona, west with final stops either in Miami or Cape Canaveral. This trip took us the other way and it gave us some stops in ports (Cadiz, Gibraltar, Malaga) we were not familiar with and two stops in places we have been to before and enjoyed (Bermuda, Funchal). If you ever plan on doing a TA...check to make sure we are on it...42 days under our tighter belts and we have always enjoyed clam seas and fantastic weather. The ship was basically "sold out" (a few empty inside cabins according to hotel director Nelson) and I think the days of light loads on TAs are in the past. More of us seem to enjoy the sea days. However, there was a higher percentage of solo travelers in regular (non studio) cabins so the Epic was not truly at capacity. And, that's what I felt. It did not feel as crowded as I thought it would. Weather and crowd covered, here's some details: Embarkation. Smooth. We arrived at the port around 11:30am and we were on the ship by noon. I've heard, read, some horror stories about Cape Canaveral and our only experience boarding there in the past was on Disney so this was a pleasant first. Food. We did not have a bad meal and we had many meals. Some meals were better than others, some risottos were memorable and some filets were just OK but overall, the food was fantastic. We ate in every specialty restaurant (4 UDP plus two Platinum meals makes 6...we doubled down on Cagneys). No Spiegel this time but we've done it before and the meal was good. The service at all the restaurants was also great. Except...La Cucina. Long wait to be seated, looooong wait to place order. Longer wait to get meal. But the veal was perfection. Can't speak to the Garden Café buffet food with much authority. We did some breakfasts and a few light lunches and they were all good but we never ate dinner there. We did, however, stop by for Nutella crepes and ice cream. E.V.E.R.Y. Night! (the ying to all this food yang coming up under the spa and fitness portion of this review). Shoutout to Soledad (hostess), Ronnie Castillo (waiter), Julie-Anne (cagney waitress), Roberto at Le Bistro, and the nice hostess at the Garden Café who welcomed us every night at 9:30pm with "you're back for a crepe" and a smile and zero judgement! Entertainment. We've seen Burn the Floor and Priscilla and they were awesome before and awesome again. Special for this cruise, the cast of Burn and Priscilla put together two shows-- a tribute to women in music and a Broadway Cabaret and they were both phenomenal. Particularly the Broadway show tunes show. You could tell that they put a ton of work into it and their excitement, investment and enjoyment of the performance came across every piece. Juggler, comedian, hypnotist, howl at the moon, bar musicians were OK. Some better than others (for example, the Howl at the Moon guys were good but we've seen better). Shout out to Hector of the teal shirt and grey suit entertainment reservation staff. Always professional and helpful. Fitness/Spa. This gets it's own heading because 1) we always purchase the spa pass and 2) we go to the gym every day. (we also never take the elevators---pardon the brag!--and as I write this...maybe those were crowded and well...who knew?!). The spa (we call it our water park time) was as good as we remember. Quiet, peaceful, steamy, bubbly, heaven. We end most of our late afternoons there and because of the 14 out of 15 sunny days...we went from pool side to heated lounger and thermal spa every day. The spa ladies said they had "sold out" but I only had to wait for a heated lounger a couple of times and it did nothing to bring down my bushwacker, cuba libre, sangria, dark and stormy mood. (shout out to Vladimir--Serbia wants it's best bar tender back). The gym was likewise never overly crowded (maybe it had something to do with the higher age average on the ship or we just got lucky). The staff was great (shout out to Rohit in the gym and Suzette at the spa reception). Clean, well maintained and. in case you have never cruised on the EPIC, the gym is ginormous. Cabin. You've read the "what were they thinking?" reviews I am sure. Who puts the toilet and the sink where the nightstand and the closet should go? And why do you have to walk thru the shower to get in the room? It's not that bad (and the last two sentences were meant to be funny people). Yes, it's weird and if I were sharing a cabin with a stranger or my smelly teenager...it would be an issue. But check you tube, look at floor plans and realize that the guys who designed this ship were crazy and came up with a funky, curved cabin, cubicle shower/tub toilet French j'ai nes sais quois. Embrace the uniqueness (meaning nobody has done it again and never will). We don't mind it. The bed was super comfortable, our balcony was perfect and there's almost too much storage space. Of note for Epic newbies...because the staterooms have these curved shapes, some have the bed closer to the door and some have the bed closer to the balcony. Closer to the balcony is better if you want/need some distance between the bathroom(s) and your pillow. Our steward was THE BEST. Shout out to Victor. Epi(c)logue. (Ha. I kill me) Service was almost perfect and you should never expect perfection. The crew was attentive, friendly and helpful. It's a long crossing with some long days for them (I was not going to mention that the turning of the clocks forward six times was painful...but there it is). We did not do any shore excursions thru NCL, we did not need to go to guest services, we did not gamble and we did not have anything to do with the youth program staff or the medical staff but every other department gets a solid A (even with the small La Cucina service blip). The only ugly (and I don't mean physically) people we came across were some of the passengers but that's normal. When you witness someone being rude to a staff member, stop, let them move on and then do something or say something nice to the staff member. It's the right thing to do. Call me preachy. Read Less

We found a good price for this cruise and are tired of going to the same old places in the Caribbean, so we booked and inside room, and then upgraded to a mini-suite. The room was good in our opinion. There were many who did not like the "split" bathroom, but it worked fine for us. Our issue with the ship is the lack of inside seating space. The top deck is great if the sun it out and it's warm, but the wind was blowing and it was fairly cool out during our crossing, so staying on deck for a significant amount of time was not an option. Inside community seating space is EXTREMELY limited, so it's hard to find anywhere to go if you want to play a board game, etc. There is a large amount of floor space on decks 5,6 & 7 that are idle or entirely too large for the use that they are attributed for. The art gallery area is nice, with a fair amount of wall space afforded for display. The best way to attend dinner and shows goes against the concept of "Freestyle Cruising", in that it's a good idea to make reservations or you risk not making it into the shows, or getting a seat when you want to eat in the "regular" dining rooms, since even after making reservations, you should show up at least 30 minutes early to make sure you get a good seat at a show. I had one outstanding customer service experience however. Una worked at the coffee shop, and I bought an espresso after asking if they were good; it wasn't even close. I told her what she needed to do to fix the issue, and to maintain the quality of the shots into the future. She didn't know how to make the adjustments needed to the equipment to attain good shots, but she found the person who could help her, and the espresso went from quite awful to very good overnight. I contacted the hotel manager and let them know that I appreciated her efforts, and let them know that she was interested in learning how to adjust the machines and keep them in the best shape possible, which they may incorporate into the training for the coffee shop staff. I overheard quite a few comment after the changes were made that the coffee was so good after, so I felt good about helping Una and improving the quality of the coffee for everyone on the boat. We will book on Norwegian again, but not on this ship. Everyone we talked with about other Norwegian ships said that the others are much better laid out and more "cruiser friendly" than the Epic. Transatlantic from San Juan to Barcelona with stops in Madeira, Tangier, and Cadiz. The ship is beautiful! The food was excellent no matter the venue. Enjoyed the entertainment and movies with discussion groups afterward. The Meet & Mingle was outstanding—cocktails, hot appetizers and officers who truly wanted to engage. There are outdoor fitness machines on the sports deck for those who prefer to enjoy ocean sounds rather than gym noises. Lots of nooks and small group gathering space on the outdoor decks. Loved having laundry facilities on each floor—including an ironing board. Let us pack less with no expense. Free detergent (or you can use your own). Great social spot as we waited for a washer or dryer to open up. Lots of men doing the laundry! Viking also lets you bring your own liquor and wine aboard with no corkage fees. Wine and beer offered freely at lunch and dinner but cocktails are reasonably priced. They treat adults like adults. One initial challenge was loud banging noises in our cabin. The first night there were six crew members including head of housekeeping in our cabin trying to figure out where the noise was coming from. Because cruise was sold out, told no other cabin. Next day, noise was worse. Someone had canceled so we were moved—no noise! Finally a good night sleep! Someone else had also complained about noise and was moved to our old cabin but said the noise was worse so moved back to their previous cabin. Two days later, we found the problem—a ratchet strap hitting the metal on a lifeboat which was right under a vent pipe at our old cabin. Suggested they pad it—maintenance showed up immediately and did so. End of noise. Responsiveness to our complaint was immediate and taken seriously. Commend housekeeping, maintenance and guest relations. Stellar. Loved the heated bathroom floors! Lovely cabins with luxurious bathrooms. Public spaces are inviting. Different music (not loud!) rotated between—a string trio, pianist, jazz, etc. My husband is a singer and would’ve liked a passenger choir to fill some of the Sea days. The CD said he’d been lobbying for one so would keep trying. All in all, loved this cruise. We met more people on this cruise than any other. Signed up for two more in future cruises. Read Less

My husband did the choosing. I was really against 6 days at sea. I mean what can you do doing nothing for 6 long sea days? Anyway, San Juan was wonderful. Our hotel was directly across from the Dock where Sky was berthed. I will admit she was a beautiful site that morning from our hotel balcony. Boarding was a snap. Have crused 25+ times and this really was the easiest. We were greeted once onboard by the crew. In fact one of hem noted our look and asked us if we'd like a tour of the ship. WOW. I can go on and on, the singers were as good or better than any other ships entertainment. Ok, no glitz,,, however the singing was solid. Elvis was cool! The Beatles were totally entertaining. The crew is as good as it gets. One time we had an emergency. The crew , including the Dr ran to the scene. It was a minor item however they were totally on it.I heard later the DR stated with the patent all night in sick bay to make sure the person was ok. This ship is the opposite of the RCL Oasis class ones. As we were on the Oasis 7 days prior with our grandchildren I can tell you they are opposite. Yes we like them both. For very different reasons. The SKY is not a family fun ship. They do not play in that field. What I can say is they are the way my husband and I wish to travel the seas when we are not with the young family members. Our friends came with us.They to agree the SKY is the way to go. Ok, Food is solid. Loved the Buffett. Note: The sea conditions were a bit interesting. Between 3 and 10 meter swells all week. Anyway we Loved it all. Probably why we have 62 additional Viking Ocean days already booked. Team Viking, they are some of the best crew we have ever had the pleasure to cross paths with. Yes, i can name one or two on each cruise we have been on as being wonderful. The team on SKY are all that way. I cannot remember a bad experience. After 7 days at sea (missed St Martin due to heavy seas), you get to know people. . They are the reason why we booked more. Hats off to those who traveled so far to serve my husband and I up a WOW trip. Oh, remember my not wanting 6 days at sea? Well, we wanted a few more when we made it to Barcelona. It was a sad day leaving the SKY. If your wondering, do it. Read Less

My back ground: We are a retired couple, we had been cruised with Carnival, RC, Princess, MCS, Celebrity, HAL for about 20 times. This is the first time we cruise with NCL. More than half of our cruise are more than two weeks and back-to-back. Here the report from a straight shooter. - The Civitavecchia cruise port (1 hour train from Rome) is difference than the other cruise port. Passengers come to the port gate, then take a shuttle to the check-in building. For disembarking the shuttle will take the passengers from the cruise ship to the port gate. - We arrived at the port gate when the RAIN are falling. We, about 300 passengers, had to stand under the rain and wait for the shuttle bus took us to the check-in building. There are only two shuttle bus and it take about 10 minutes to go to the check-in building, so every 20 minutes the shuttles came and pick-up about 120 passengers. The NCL did not provided the UMBRELLA to their passengers. I remember when I cruise with the other cruise line, they provided (loan) the umbrella to their passengers when it was raining at the port of call. NCL don't have umbrella or the officers in charger did not care ? - For about half hour stand under the rain, my wife and can get on the shuttle bus to go to the check-in building. We SOAKING WET and COLD, and NCL served COLD water and COLD juice. I asked for a cup of hot tea or coffee, the answer is: We will get hot drink until we embarked the ship. Some kind of customers care/service that only NCL can provide heh! Or by the Italy law: Can NOT serve hot tea and hot coffee on the check-in area ? Where the heck is the officers in charge of the check-in area ? - After check-in, we have TO WALK UNDER THE RAIN WITH OUT CANOPY NOR UMBRELLA to get on the ship. We get on the ship soaking wet and while waiting for the luggage delivery to our cabin, my wife and I start sneezing from that moment on. - The "gourmet" food from the main dinning room is BAD, it's too salty or did not taste right. NCL must hire the so so (if I don't say bad) executive chef. - The steak is not tender, if you want a well done then you had to order medium rare, if you want a medium rare then you have to order rare, if you want rare then .... good luck. - One dinner they serve escargot, here how they did the escargot, there is only one or two escargot mix with about ten mushroom , stuff in middle of a bun with and" bath" with a dark brown gravy. But on the description they specified garlic and butter. I feel like I got cheat by the chef. - There is a Chinese Japanese restaurant on the ship called Ginza. They made udon soup with a small white noodle is NOT a udon noodle. And they made Chinese shasiu noodle soup with a small white noodle not a yellow egg noodle. And both of the broth are very similar. I am an Asian so I know Chinese, Japan, Vietnam, Thai , Singapore noodle very well. I guess that the chef know nothing about the Asian soup or don't care about the passengers. - After couple nights at the main dinning room, and two nights at the Chinese/Japanese restaurant , both of us start to eat dinner in the buffet. What a depress. - For 14 nights we have 3 productions shows, it kind of normal and below average. There are two bands on the area, one of them are good, and the main band with 5 instrument players and one singer , they get all talents but they pick the wrong song that made the dancing party very boring. The piano player has the talent to play piano but he did not have the voice of a singer, they also has the duet violin and cello that I am not interest so I don't know. - The food cook so bad by the chef that made all of the waiter in the dining room "take all the blame", I feel very sorry for those guys/gals. They tried their best but they can not change the taste of the food. - The house keeping is the same as all the other house keeping in other cruise ship, but they are the super star on the ship because the food is bad the waiter took the blame so the house keeping is the super star of all. - On the NCL Star on the fitness center you will get very few or limiting on the ocean view while you exercise. - There is no free sauna room on the NCL star, they sell the package include the use of sauna, steam room plus bla bla bla for 80 buck per day. I recall that Princess, MSC .... has a free sauna. - There is no laundromat on the NCl Star, I recall there are laundromat on Princess, carnival .... - NCL Star has no Captain dinner that you can have a free drink. - NCL they use the "casual cruising" policy so no formal night. And do not surprise if you see people cover with bath tower on the buffer area, and people with short and sandal in the main dinning room. Final words: I never cruise with NCL again, regardless how cheap their price is and much incentive they give. Read Less

We've been on many cruises with different cruise lines before, but we chose this one because we took one of our children's families on a Thomson's Cruise last year and were very impressed, and the timing was ideal as other child care duties were becoming slightly less pressing. We are not yet convinced by the freedom dining concept which means you don't easily build up contacts with staff and fellow travellers, and we felt that there was some evident cost trimming which meant that staff seemed more hard-pressed. We weren't sorry to lose some of the fringe activities like the chocolate festivals and ice-carving and we felt that fewer invited performers improved our entertainment enjoyment, because the young, 'resident' cast was excellent. TUI's general co-ordination was generally up to the level we experienced last year, but communications regarding the possible impact of the recent hurricanes was not ideal. We were surprised that passengers had to pay to join a passengers' choir. However, the food, service and entertainment were excellent, and the ship and our cabin were maintained meticulously. We couldn't have had kinder, more obliging cabin stewards than Milos and Ganna. The value, given the all-inclusive tariff and the fact that general gratuities were included, was outstanding. We liked the medium size of the ship and the show lounge and walking track in particular. The first time in the Eastern Caribbean and the weather was excellent. I found the islands fascinating and attractive in an uncoordinated way, my wife found them disorganised, impoverished, and sometimes intimidating. Most of the local people were charming. The destinations staff could have devoted a little time in their talks to advising those who who were going ashore on foot. Read Less

The Celebrity Reflection repositioning cruise was an excellent experience, with great weather and lots of options for enrichment, entertainment and relaxation. We chose Celebrity Reflection because of previous very pleasant sailing on the ship; its beautifully designed & spacious multiple spaces that are open and airy; its understated elegance, its arts collection, the wonderful dining venues and innovative delicious menus, the bars, its impeccable "going the extra mile" service from all levels from the cabin stewards, to the restaurant and bar staff, the officers and the staff at gangways, Guest Relations and Excursions desk; and lastly but not last, the enrichment activities, fitness and entertainment -its absolutely wonderful. The crossing was excellent and Celebrity delivered again. I believe that Celebrity offers the best value for its category. Want to recognize the captain Dimitry who was by far the most friendly, amiable and visibly-present throughout the ship I have ever experienced on any prior cruise. We went out of his way to make guests, welcomed, appreciated and entertained. Thanks Captain. Read Less

Another hit by NCL this time on the Getaway during the westbound crossing - Copenhagen to Miami - 14 nights with stops in Ponta Delgada (Azores) and Bermuda (2 day overnight). Bermuda was an added port after the originally scheduled ports of St. Thomas and St Marteen were cancelled due to post hurricane damage. I was traveling solo meeting global friends onboard, I arrived at the terminal around 10am, At the port drop off, the bags are collected by deck number allowing for quicker delivery. The check-in was easy and the port team was knowledgeable of the process and could answer all questions. I boarded the Getaway by 11am, Meeting my friends at the Savor dining room for lunch where we were quickly seated. Luggage arrived by 2pm. The ship was in good shape - clean, comfortable, My balcony cabin - 13170, was convenient to the stairs, health club and sun decks. I traveled solo and found the cabin configuration to meet my expectations. My cabin steward was pleasant and greeted me each time we say each other, I am not a fussy traveler and found the attention to the cabin to meet my needs. The temperature control was working to increase/decrease air conditioning as needed. My neighbors were quiet as were the passageways, Dining: I had several upsale diners and purchased additional, My fare included the unlimited beverage package. My friends and I enjoyed dinner in all of the venues - Tropicana 1 time, Taste 1 time, Cagneys 3 times, Bistro 2 times, Tapenyaki 1 time, Moderno 1 time, La Cucina 1 time, Ocean Blue 1 time. We enjoyed all. The dining staff was friendly and greeted our table, The Tropicana Main Dining room can be crazy buzzy and appear chaotic at times the team delivered a great meal. Lunch at the RAW bar was phenomenal. Fitness: The Getaway offers an unlimited fitness class fee which I did purchase, The package allows for taking unlimited fitness classes as per the set schedule. The instructors were friendly and knowledgeable, If you are not able to keep to the schedule the fee is not for you. I attended classes twice per day, Classes are not offered on port days, Spa package: I did purchase the spa package. Not a good idea on this trip as the spa was crowded (very over crowded) as the weather was cool, cloudy and foggy. Most spa members took loungers and headed beds and stayed for all day, Some even took two loungers (for their hand bags) being totally rude to others who need, All entertainment is good and enjoyable, I have seen most of the shows before either on ship or on land. I highly recommend attending the shows which fit your schedule, On shore I did my own planning with friends and local outfitters choosing not to purchase ship excursions. Being a gay traveler I find the support of NCL with the offering of the daily meetings (Friends of Dorothy) to be a wonderful bonus., The attendance at the daily meetings were well attended allowing a place to gather before dinner and evenings entertainment. Drinks were ship, ship is great and we'll maintained, staff were brilliant and very helpful. However the food was terrible and I was embarrassed for the staff who had to serve this rubbish. Currently on Rhapsody Of The Seas and there buffet is like fine dining compared to MSC. You need to live your game in this reason. Stephen Foster would have to be the best Cruise Director we have encountered in 30 Years of cruising. He is so wasted in that position and should be on the stage full time. Shore excursions were interesting and informative considering the history we encountered. Probably would cruise again but food would have to show a massive improvement to reach the level of other cruise lines we have travelled on over the years. Sinfonia is a nice ship and it's owners need to sharpen up their game to be competative in this industry. Read Less

We had been on the Freedom of the Seas on a few other occasions. The ship is large enough with a variety of activities for a long cruise. Our balcony room was spacious and well maintained by the staff. The health spa on the eleventh floor was well equipped. There are lots of classes and lectures for interested guests. The exercise, language, science oriented and origami classes filled our free time. We chose the "My Time Dining". Our waiter was very attentive. He made excellent suggestions and remembered my preferences after the first day. We did book an evening at Chops and two nights at Giovanni's. The fine dining restaurants were a special treat. The Mediterranean selection was motivated by the selection of the ports of call. We wanted to visit the ports in Portugal and Spain. Each port had it's own special charm. Mallorica, my favorite port, was a smaller trendy yachting city with lots of history. We had a great day enjoying the architecture and shopping in the gardens of the cathedral. The open air stalls of the local artisans were numerous. Read Less

Love TAs never visited Amsterdam. Check in at FLL pier was easy and quick. Room was ready by 1pm. Ship was in pristine condition. Dined nightly in Blu. Friendly staff and good food. Luncheon buffet had many choices all were very good including the daily themes. Crossing was calm seas. Daily lectures very informative. Have booked the Silly again in Nov. for the TA from Rome. Captain Kefetsis was the life of the party, always joking and mingling with the guests. Room steward, Mario, was like a ninja. Room clean and ready at all times, ice provided for wines etc. The band, Casablanca was terrific. Weather crossing was cool and had several days when sitting outside was too cold. Ports of Brugges, Lehavre and Lisbon were perfect. Days sunny and temperate. Spent 2 days in Amsterdam. Loved the canal cruises there. Disembarkation was quite fast and customs check was non existent. The Silhouette is our favorite ship. Read Less
