Ship was dated, service was very poor, dining was average, take a large bank account with you because they will charge you like a wounded bull!! Don't trust what they tell you as we were told that to certain destinations by foot was not possible but it was, again another ploy to sell you their excursions which are grossly overpriced as are their drinks, note you will be paying a daily gratuity ...
1. The day before the cruise a Typhoon hit Tokyo. We understand that you cannot do anything when mother nature hits but there was no communication, no notifications or emails from Princess explaining that there is a delay in the cruise ship coming back into port due to the Typhoon and that there was any delay in embarkation. There should have been an initial email warning of the approaching ...
JUN 25-3 JUL 19 YOKOHAMA JAPAN
20 OUT OF 45 CABINS WERE REPORTED TO BE UNFIT FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS:
1. Broken a/c's in 20 of the rooms the entire trip. The temperature in the rooms reached highs of 24 degrres celsius.
2. Kids on the cruise had to be put to sleep on the 5th floor of the ship every night before bringing them to the room due to the extreme heat.
3. Adults on ...
Wanted to see Japan and the festivals. However the tours were not up to standards. The food was below normal. The service was way below normal. There were no lectures. The International Cafe was missing. Maybe if we went when the weather was not so hot the tours would have been better. I think that Carnival ran this cruise with Princess because we saw lots of carnival-Princess signs. At dinner ...
We just got back from a 9 day cruise around Japan on the Diamond Princess. We booked the cruise because of the itinerary. We had been to Japan several times but had not gone up to the north. This was a great chance to see an area we had never been to.
The Pluses
- The itinerary..some great countryside places, gorgeous cherry blossoms, interesting historical sites
- The room. We had the ...
The ship and the senior crew are an absolute disaster.
- Many plumbing leaks across the ship: in the cabin hallways, toilet overflows into main walkways, buckets in shops to catch the drips from the ceiling. Crew admit the boat is getting old and needs lots of maintenance. Always heater fans working to dry out wet carpet, fans and cables created additional trip hazards.
- 2 hour line up for ...
We chose this cruise to see Japan. The port of embarkation does not even exist on the port of embakation listing, its "home" port is Yokohama in Japan. This shows what a company this is.I would not recommend an American owned cruise company to my worst enemy as they are the masters of spoiling a cruise with their on-board pricing policy. How to give up a drink for 2 weeks unless you have very deep ...
Celebrating a friends birthday with19 in attendance. 8 day Yokohama - South Korea round trip. August / September 2016
Spent time in Yokohama prior to embarkation & also Tokyo / Ginza on return.
For the wrong reasons a trip to remember.
I have never had to write a scathing review ever but I must say that our recent experience is worthy of doing so.
Yes the Diamond Princess has lost her ...
We choose this cruise as we really wanted to see Japan and they had a great itinerary so you could experience the four major islands. We booked a Suite figuring if we are on for 16 days, we liked a larger balcony and stateroom. Quite frankly the ship is OLD. Our suite was not impressive for the price paid, better suites on Holland and Regent, and they have. many more amenities. The ship was ...
We are a couple in our Fifties this was our seventh cruise previously on Princess 2 times, Cunard, Royal Caribbean NCL and Carnival . Our 2 sons (in their twenties were also on this cruise, mainly because of the Itinerary ....effectively a 3 day city break in Tokyo and then a 9 day cruise around southern Japan visiting many of the sites. We booked this because we particularly liked the planned ...
