Excellent 1st Oceania cruise with caveats

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Insignia

This was our first experience sailing with Oceania. Overall, it was very enjoyable with a few minor problems I’ll outline later. Here are the positive points. Check in was a breeze. We arrived about 2:30pm and were immediately accompanied to the empty immigration and security areas. A few minutes later we boarded and checked in the quiet Insignia Lounge (again zero people waiting) and were ...

Oceania Insignia Review June, 2023 Cabin Class – B1 – Deck 6 We were on a 24-night cruise from Tokyo to San Francisco via the northern Japanese Islands, the Aleutian Islands, the Inside Passage and the Oregon and Washington coasts. SHIP OVERALL Overall, the ship is in very good condition. However, she was built in 1998 (as the “R One” for Renaissance Cruise Lines), as such it is ...

First Oceania Experience

We chose Oceania based on their culinary record, service and small size. We have previously cruised on Viking and love their modern ships. R class ships have been beautifully refurbished. We had sailed on Azamara Quest - a similar ship from Renaissance cruises. We joined the last segment of ATW cruise which began in San Francisco on January 2023! While a majority of the ship had been together ...

Tokyo to Alaska re-positioning cruise

Review for a Transpacific Cruise on Silver Whisper

We chose this cruise because we wanted a luxury cruise at a discount to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary. We also chose this particular cruise because we wanted to visit relatives in Tokyo & see some of the Silverseas ports. We were very happy with all that Silverseas had to offer: service, food quality, alcoholic & non-alcoholic beverages, service, activities, cleanliness, & did I ...

My Worst Cruise

Review for a Asia Cruise on Seven Seas Explorer

We choose this cruise because it was advertised as, "the most luxurious cruise and an unparalleled experience". The transfer from airport to our hotel was badly organised. Following a 13 hour flight and over an hour spent in immigration, we were expected to wait indefinitely for guests arriving on the flights which had not as yet landed. The food in the La Veranda was poor in quality, ...

Japan cruise

We were fans of Crystal Cruises and were looking for a replacement after Crystal folded. We had hoped that Regent would offer a similar experience. It did not. The room (we were the lowest price expensive category) was very small apart from the balcony and there was limited storage. I had to keep half of my clothes in my suitcase under the bed. We have had more storage on lesser priced ships. We ...

Parts were excellent, but a few disappointments

Review for a Asia Cruise on Seven Seas Mariner

We chose this cruise for the itinerary, to visit places that would be difficult to get to otherwise. We had previously visited Japan, and one of us had been on an overland trip to Alaska. This was our 6th cruise and our second Regent. We decided to do the more expensive pre-cruise excursion which took in the Mt Fuji area. The pre-cruise itinerary was quite good, but unfortunately we had a very ...

Stormy crossing

We chose this cruise for its interesting itinerary, which included calling at Petropavlovsk, Russia, en route from Tokyo to Alaska. We also had a three night pre-cruise package included. For reasons best known to themselves Regent flew us from London Heathrow to Tokyo Narita via Doha on Qatar Airways. A rather circuitous route, when LHR to Tokyo direct would have been a much shorter flying ...

Great cruise, great itinerary, great ship from Tokyo to Vancouver

We have completed 13 Regent cruises (with 222 nights), and was surprised with a poor review on Cruise Critic from one couple. We were on that same Regent Mariner cruise and had none of the 'problems' described--we adapted to changes that we could not control. Both Regent and we could not control the weather. First--If they did not like their multi-hour air-schedule, it can be ...

I chose Silver Seas because of the great service, great food and wonderful staff. Getting on board is always easy and fast, and a nice welcome from our butler. Couldn't wait to have my first glass of champagne. The staff is helpful and friendly every day - not just the first day. We asked about a special meal for my husband (he loves escargot) , and of course - he got it! The singers are very ...
